The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 17
Chapter 17: Consultation
After determining that strategies against Ozuma and defense would take time, we received maps of the surrounding area and were guided to my temporary room to discuss.
“Let’s talk about it in practical terms. What do you all think?”
We set up a soundproof barrier and began the discussion while remaining vigilant of our surroundings.
“I don’t think he was lying. Even if he did, there’d be no benefit.”
“I agree. At least from his gestures and expressions, I didn’t sense anything like that.”
“He didn’t lie. I didn’t detect the heartbeat one has when lying.”
“It seemed like he was telling the truth. There wasn’t any inconsistency between what I heard and Zanma’s warning.”
“…Then it seems cooperating with Gomon to seal the gates of Yomi is the right approach.”
We spread out a map on the table, showing the area around Gomon and discussing our plans.
“Ozuma is to the east, but they’ve already sent surrender advisories to neighboring countries. Though no one has complied yet, some nearby nations might follow soon, given the speed of their advance and potential harbor attacks.”
“We should act as soon as tomorrow. Where should we start?”
“Rakul and I will handle the military and tactical aspects. Aria and Shurin will research this area and create a more detailed map.”
“Serena will generally stay with us, but she’ll also handle negotiations and confirm medical facilities.”
“If anyone has any objections, please speak up.”
We’re still in enemy territory in a sense. While we understand everyone’s strengths, we can’t dismiss the possibility of being targeted when alone.
With Aria’s exceptional breakthrough ability and Shurin’s superb detection skills, even if we’re attacked by many skilled opponents, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Serena might not lead the front line, but with training from me and Aria, she can at least defend herself if attacked.
As long as I’m nearby, I can respond if something happens.
Everyone nodded, then returned to their respective rooms.
—
Late into the night, amidst the silence that dominated the surroundings, Aria came to visit while I was reading Gomon’s history book.
“What’s wrong?”
“Oh, well… it’s about Ruskdite.”
As Aria spoke, Ruskdite transformed from his sword form back into his demon-like appearance, but this time wearing a distinctive red kimono typical of Hizuchi.
“What’s with that outfit?”
“It was a decent attire, so I decided to try it on. It’s no big deal to change what you wear.”
“It suits you, but did you come here just to show it off?”
“There might be a reason… It’s a foreign land after all. One might want to try something different.”
Saying so, Ruskdite loosened his kimono and draped it over me.
“Hey.”
“Don’t worry. There shouldn’t be a problem if we take turns rather than all at once. Tonight, shall you and I have a little company?”
I sighed and pulled Ruskdite closer. By now, I understood that stopping him was futile.
I took out a magic stone from my bag, refreshed the soundproof barrier, and…
