The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 23
Chapter 23: Overwhelming Victory
“What’s the casualty report?”
After scattering the Ozma Army and joining forces with the ambush unit, the leaders of the unit bowed in response to my inquiry.
“We have some wounded, but all are minor. No fatalities.”
“Same here.”
“I see.”
After listening, I surveyed the area, checking the annihilation of the Ozma Army and the condition of Gomon’s soldiers. Then, raising my sword, I declared loudly for the wind to carry my voice.
“Raise the victory cry! This battle belongs to Gomon!”
At my words, the Gomon soldiers raised their weapons and shouted. The fact that we had decisively defeated Ozma naturally stirred their souls.
“Berg.”
Amidst the celebrating Gomon soldiers, I reunited with Aria and the others. I noticed Shurin holding a paper with holes in it.
“Well done, everyone… What’s this?”
“I felt something unusual, so I shot down a normal bird, and it turned into this.”
“Indeed… Hinowa, can you make anything of this?”
Taking the paper from Shurin, Hinowa stared at it, tracing the characters written on it before responding.
“This is a talisman for a shikigami… On the Hume Continent, it falls under the category of familiars. From the spell structure, it’s clear it shares vision with the spellcaster.”
“Sharing vision… So the spellcaster knows about us?”
This was troublesome. The reason we annihilated the enemy in this battle was to delay the knowledge of our presence.
Before the information spreads, we needed to reorganize our troops and aim to capture at least two of Ozma’s castles nearby, but now that we’ve been found out, we’ll have to change our plans.
“Everyone, come with me. We need to move up our plans.”
Alongside Aria and the others, I headed towards Raigou. When Raigou saw me, he approached with a broad smile.
“Lord Berg! That was a magnificent battle!”
“Thank you, but Ozma now knows about us.”
Showing Raigou the talisman, I explained the situation. Raigou listened attentively, his expression serious.
“Lord Raigou, we’re going to attack one of Ozma’s castles. Please handle the aftermath here. Also, I need about a thousand troops ready to move immediately.”
“Understood. I’ll have a thousand cavalry ready for you.”
With a nod, Raigou turned on his heel and issued commands to the soldiers. The unit leaders quickly responded, and soon, a thousand cavalry gathered under my command.
“Listen up, warriors of Gomon!”
Raigou’s voice resounded throughout the area, commanding with an electrifying presence.
“Lord Berg will now lead an attack on one of Ozma’s castles! The time for endurance is over! Now is the time for us to strike back against Ozma!”
Raigou’s words tightened the expressions of the Gomon soldiers. As someone entrusted with the role of general, his words carried significant weight.
“Cavalry, follow Lord Berg! His words are my words! And understand, they are also the words of our Lord!”
“The rest of you, return with me and prepare for the next battle!”
“Yes, sir!”
And so, leading the cavalry, we headed towards Ozma’s castle…
