The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 37
### Chapter 37: The Unexpected Turn
It appeared suddenly.
The figure was about the same height as Shurin, with tattered clothes and unkempt hair. The thin limbs that could be seen looked like those of a starving child.
However, the horns growing from its forehead and the ominous aura emanating from its entire body, along with the uniquely shaped large sword that resembled an oversized crescent axe, exuded an extraordinary pressure.
“Ah ha.”
The horned child swung the large sword, slicing through the armored Ozuma soldiers and cutting their bodies in half.
“Ah ha ha.”
As the horned child swung the large sword, it ran toward us. Each swing of the sword sent Ozuma soldiers flying like pieces of paper.
“Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!”
The laughter echoed through the area. The Ozuma soldiers, even the medics, showed signs of fear.
“An ogre…”
Someone muttered, and it spread like ripples, reaching the Ozuma soldiers.
“An ogre! An ogre has appeared!”
“Run away!”
“Ahhhhh!?”
The once formidable Ozuma soldiers retreated in fear. The armored medics faced the horned child, but their armor was shattered in a single swing.
The child approached me directly, receiving the rusty large sword that was swung down.
“Ugh!?”
The impact transmitted through the ground, and the shockwave spread around as the ground cracked.
“Ah ha, it won’t end with just one hit.”
The child, landing, grabbed the cord tied to the large sword and swung it around, cutting down the surrounding soldiers. As the sword was thrust into the ground to be stopped, the child pulled the cord to retrieve the sword and charged forward, gouging the earth.
(Ogre, was it?)
Ignoring the situation around, the overwhelming force that mowed everything down was certainly like that of a non-human.
But at the same time, it was convenient for changing the flow of battle.
I concentrated on dodging the ogre’s attacks rather than receiving them. For some reason, the ogre was targeting me and was chasing me while scattering the surroundings.
Each time I dodged, the Ozuma soldiers were blown away. The more I fled, the more the ogre chased me, increasing the damage to the Ozuma army.
Then, from the side, flames and lightning struck the ogre. Shion, in a stance with his twin blades, shouted.
“Retreat all troops! We’re getting caught up in it!”
At Shion’s command, the Ozuma army began to withdraw. Shion, looking at me, said,
“The appearance of the ogre was unexpected… but we can’t get caught up in this. Farewell.”
As I watched Shion withdraw with his soldiers, I turned my gaze back to the overwhelming pressure emitted by the ogre, which should have been affected by the flames and lightning.
The charred left arm was healing quickly. Once the healing was complete, the ogre’s eyes, filled with madness, locked onto me.
I fired a signal flare made from magic stones, signaling an immediate retreat. At this distance, it should reach Aria and Rakul.
“Ah ha ha, ah— it’s been a while since it hurt like this.”
The ogre laughed as it raised the large sword, and with an almost visible surge of fighting spirit, it attacked.
Each swing of the ogre’s large sword split the earth and made the air scream. Avoiding, deflecting, and sometimes blocking the rusty blade that would not be taken lightly if hit directly.
“Great, great, great, great! To endure so much of my power! Not breaking against me!”
The ogre continued to swing the large sword, its joy unmasked, and the power of each swing increased.
“More! Let’s fight more! More!!”
The ogre approached with a laugh, and as the Ozuma soldiers vanished, two signal flares were fired.
I blocked the large sword and engaged in a sword lock. The ogre pushed with tremendous force, but I matched it head-on.
“Sorry, but this is where it ends.”
Muttering this, I removed my military gear. Tens of thousands of souls became a storm of darkness, sweeping through the entire area and blowing the ogre away.
The ogre stopped, gouging the ground with its large sword, and looked up, but the surroundings were already empty.
“… Ah, they escaped.”
The ogre’s muttering faded into the devastated battlefield.
