The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 40
## Chapter 40: The Demon’s Joy
(Demon’s side)
“Aah… aah…”
I grumbled as I lay down in the place where I had just been fighting. There were no signs of life around, and I inhaled the now familiar smell of blood, waiting for Rust Unyielding to call out to me.
Since wielding Rust Unyielding, nothing but fighting mattered. I didn’t feel hunger or thirst.
Rust Unyielding would lead me to where strong opponents or many fighters were, and until then, I would just lie down or wander aimlessly.
“Hmm?”
As Rust Unyielding conveyed its message, I heard the sound of hooves. Turning towards the source, I saw someone who hadn’t been destroyed earlier, riding a black horse.
—
(Berg’s side)
“Wow! You’re back!”
The demon sprang up with a gleeful expression and grabbed the great sword, ready to pounce at any moment.
“Hey, since you came back, you’re going to fight me, right?! You’ll use that black thing again, right?! Come on, let’s do it!”
“Before that, I have something to ask. If you answer, I’ll fight you.”
“Something to ask? Hmm, well, if you’ll fight me, sure, what is it?”
Considering the possibility of an immediate fight, the demon was more willing to talk than expected.
“Where did you get that sword?”
“Hmm… I don’t remember. There was a noisy day, and when I realized it, I had it.”
“Do you have any family?”
“I don’t know. I feel like I was with my dad.”
“Why do you crave fighting so much?”
“Because it’s fun.”
The demon said this, stroking the great sword and speaking eloquently with an ecstatic smile.
“When I fight, I feel clear-headed.
The feeling of not knowing who I was or the tightness in my chest goes away. Rust Unyielding told me that I should keep fighting.”
The great sword, Rust Unyielding, radiated tremendous power and a presence.
(As I thought)
Rust Unyielding, like Chaos Crusader, housed countless souls. But unlike Chaos Crusader, the souls within Rust Unyielding were filled with a spirit of conflict and a destructive urge.
This power likely altered the user’s body and mind.
“Is that all? I’m getting impatient.”
“Yeah, just one last thing… let’s make a promise.”
I gave the demon a simple promise, tilting its head.
“If you lose, you must obey the winner. If you agree to this, I’ll fight you.”
“Haha, what’s that? Are you saying you’ll beat me and let me live?”
The demon laughed uncontrollably, then took a stance while still laughing.
“Fine, do it if you can!”
The demon kicked the ground and leaped. Tracking the demon’s movements, I drew my sword and spoke powerful words.
“Dragon. Armor. Deploy.”
The alabaster sword shone, and light enveloped my entire body.
