The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 43
**Episode 43: The True Identity of the Demon**
The demon, who had dropped Sabifuri and fallen after the power dissipated, had his horns on his forehead shorten and hide under his hair. He was still breathing, so it seemed he was alive.
“Surprisingly, it worked well.”
I thought that absorbing the rampaging soul within Sabifuri with Chaos Crusader might stop the demon, and it seems I was right.
I see the demon, who has lost consciousness and fallen after removing his armor. Upon closer inspection, his clothes and body are tattered and dirty, with the clothes barely retaining their original form.
I managed to absorb part of the rampaging soul with Chaos Crusader to stop it, but it seems this isn’t enough.
(There was a small stream nearby.)
I carry the demon and grab Sabifuri, calling Garma to move. Perhaps because of fear of the demon, there are no signs of observers or familiars around, and there is no one who witnessed the battle with the demon.
Upon arriving at the stream, I take out a pot from my bag, fill it with water, and add a magic stone inscribed with the “boiling” spell.
(It looks like there are no injuries, but… this appearance is something else.)
Sighing, I immerse the demon in the boiling water and wipe his hands and face with a wrung cloth, trying to wake him up. Though dirty, the demon’s face has a androgynous and well-formed appearance.
(Now for the body… Though I’m not looking forward to it.)
I try to remove the tattered clothes to wipe down the body but stop when I notice something.
(…Not there?)
The demon’s chest had definite curves. The body was slim but rounded, and the waist had a curve. Most strikingly, there was something that is normally present in men that was missing.
“…A woman?”
There’s no response from the still-unconscious demon. Based on the battle performance, the way I refer to them, and the high-pitched, childlike voice, I thought it was a man…
I compose myself, clean the body, check for injuries, and put some spare clothes on them, covering them with a blanket.
I take out the communication crystal and connect with Aria. It connects immediately, and Aria’s face appears on the screen.
“It looks like everything is okay. Did it go well?”
“Yeah, I managed to calm things down for now, but the sun will set soon. It looks like returning to the castle will be tomorrow.”
“I understand. I’m progressing as instructed, but is there anything additional you need me to do?”
“Nothing in particular. It might be a burden, but I’m counting on you.”
“Okay, be careful on your end as well.”
After ending the communication, I start preparing for the camp before the sun sets. By the time I finished preparing a spot a little away from the stream, it had grown completely dark.
(What should I do…)
As I prepare the meal, I think about the situation. The souls absorbed from Sabifuri were quite unruly and could only be absorbed by Chaos Crusader and me.
But if these souls are the source of Sabifuri’s power, does it mean the strength I was counting on is now gone?
Also, it can be said that she was possessed by Sabifuri, and she has no obligation or need to keep that promise.
So, I’ll have to reconsider the plan…
“U…”
While I’m thinking about this, the demon girl wakes up.
