The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 54
Chapter 54: Battle of Precision (Shion’s Perspective)
(Shion’s Perspective)
A darkness so immense, it seemed it could engulf the heavens, surged from the giant blade held by Berg.
I shuddered at the familiar presence of death that I hadn’t felt in a long time. How could someone so young, barely having lived half my life, possess such strength? How intense and brutal must the time he’s spent have been?
I raised the power of my Thunder Fang Blaze Claw to its limit, channeling all my energy into the blade without losing a single drop, concentrating it.
Twin Polar Flash. It’s a technique as simple as it sounds: a skill where I merely swing the blade imbued with the utmost power of thunder and fire.
But this technique, where two blazing blades are swung at lightning speed, allows no defense or evasion. Even if one stroke is parried, the second blade will follow and surely cut down the opponent.
I will use my strongest skill to block Berg’s strike, ensuring he has no chance to make a second move, no matter how powerful his sword may be. I will handle it.
Berg, taking a stance resembling Iaidō, began concentrating his darkness. In the sensation where time seemed to slow down, Berg rushed forward like pitch-black lightning.
(Not yet…)
The moment he entered my sword’s range, I would step in and block his attack. In the blink of an eye, he’d close the distance.
(Not yet…)
I focused on Berg, who was advancing with darkness flickering around him like flames. Just one more step, and he’d be within striking range.
(Now!)
As he entered the range, I stepped forward and swung down my Blaze Claw.
—
Darkness exploded.
“What!?”
The darkness spread in all directions with a blast, the shockwave stopping the arm I had swung down.
(Damn! But I still know his position!)
Though caught off guard, I knew where he was. I strengthened my right arm, pushed through the blast, and swung down the Blaze Claw.
“Dragon Armor Unleash.”
However, the gap created by the blast—where I should have been able to swing my blade with blinding speed—was enough for him to utter those words.
“High-End: Pinnacle of Life.”
Berg appeared from beyond the darkness, clad in white armor. My Blaze Claw closed in on him, but the blade in his hand was drawn faster than I could comprehend.
My right arm was severed, and the Blaze Claw flew in the wrong direction. The drawn alabaster blade radiated a dazzling light.
(…It’s not over yet!)
I swung my Thunder Fang with my left hand at Berg, who had just drawn his sword. The strike, leaving even sound behind, aimed to slice his torso.
But Berg’s scabbard knocked aside the hand gripping my Thunder Fang and sent it flying.
(…He predicted this!)
Without stopping the momentum of his draw, Berg struck with his scabbard, blocking my second blade. If it had been a normal scabbard, it would have shattered from the force, but the alabaster scabbard imbued with light made it possible.
The tip of his blade pointed at me. I gripped my shattered fingers, swung my Thunder Fang, and inhaled, preparing to unleash a thunderous flame.
But faster than that, the glowing white blade came down, severing my heart with precision.
