The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 81
Chapter 81: Thunderous Roar
The Beast of Yomi raised the spines on its back. The next moment, the spines shot out all at once, raining down from above.
I avoided the falling spines, deflecting the ones I couldn’t dodge with my sword. The spines that stuck into the ground caused the areas where they pierced to melt away.
“Poison…”
As I slipped through the rain of spines and closed in, the beast opened its jaw, lined with sharp fangs, and came at me. I dived downward, got behind its head, and fired a beam from the white sword, piercing its skull.
However, immediately after, the snake-like jaws lunged at me from the side. I clashed my sword and the Seven-Branch Sword against its fangs, kicking its lower jaw to prevent being eaten. Then, I shot several arrows from my cloak into its mouth, piercing it.
After escaping from its jaws, the beast’s clawed front legs swung down at me. At the last moment, I thrust the Seven-Branch Sword forward, piercing its front leg while preventing myself from being blown away. However, the beast tried to slam me into the ground.
I covered my body with lightning as I spun with the wind, slicing through the front leg and jumping into the air, only for the second leg to kick me away.
(It’s accurately tracking my position.)
When I spread my wings to adjust my posture in the air, I saw that all the eyes on the beast’s body were looking at me. Those eyes, scattered across its body, seemed to cover any blind spots, allowing it to track even the smallest and fastest targets.
“If those eyes regenerate too… then my options are limited.”
As the beast lunged toward me again, it exhaled a toxic breath from its mouth. I blocked the incoming poison with a light blast from my white shield and closed the distance. I strengthened the light and unleashed a flash of brilliance.
In the brief moment when the beast’s vision was obscured, I thrust the Seven-Branch Sword deep into the regenerating head until the blade was fully buried. I followed up by summoning chains, wrapping them around the beast’s head and grabbing them tightly.
The beast thrashed, trying to shake me off. I climbed onto its head and extended blades from the soles of my feet, driving them in to secure my position.
While controlling the chains like reins, I rode the thrashing beast. Its tail, resembling a snake, bared its fangs at me. I blocked the poisonous spit with my sword and then used a light slash to sever the snake’s head.
At that moment, the surrounding flesh began to writhe, and Yomi soldiers emerged. The Yomi soldiers closed in, but I withdrew my blade and clashed with them while remaining on top of the beast.
I twisted my body to dodge a spear thrust from a Yomi soldier. After cutting off its head with my sword, I pulled the chain to entangle another Yomi soldier approaching from the opposite side, restraining its movements.
I kept the Yomi soldier trapped as I dropped down, stabbing several more swords into the beast’s side. As I did, I threw an axe at a Yomi soldier approaching from behind, slicing through its upper body. Then, I tightened the chain wrapped around the Yomi soldier, strangling it.
I used the chain to climb back up, but multiple slender snakes from the beast’s body wrapped around me, trying to bind me. The regenerating tail snake glared at me, sticking out its tongue.
“…Don’t glare at me.”
I deployed several weapons from my armor and cut through the restraints. From among them, I grabbed a sword wrapped in darkness and used “Black Blade Storm Dance, Stormbringer” to obliterate the snake before me.
As I descended back onto the beast, I noticed lead-colored clouds gathering in the sky above. Seeing this, I grabbed the white spear and descended smoothly, piercing its foot.
After piercing it and embedding the spear into the ground, I transformed it into a halberd and fixed it in place. I quickly backed off and shouted.
“Eight Thunder Gods!”
“Kakakaka! Return to Yomi!”
From the clouds above the beast’s head, a massive bolt of lightning struck the Seven-Branch Sword. The lightning engulfed the beast’s entire body, burning it to ashes, not even allowing it to scream in its final moments as it was swallowed by the storm.
By the time the thunderous roar echoed across the battlefield and faded, the Beast of Yomi was gone, leaving only scorched remains behind.
