The Senior Student (female) Is Not Human - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: The Police Station
No one can refuse her—
When Jiang Xiyao’s gaze swept across the police station lobby for the first time, she seemed to lose her target.
However, there were only a few girls within her line of sight—
【Ahhh! I accidentally entered Senior Sister Wife’s line of sight again, I’m so happy, woohoo!】
【Although I don’t know which lucky goose my wife is looking at, to be briefly gazed upon by those eyes, this servant can die without regrets! Ah! The sky in the police station is blue! The wind in the police station is the scented breeze breathed by my wife!】
I’m looking right at you.
Jiang Xiyao endured the loudspeaker-like noise and sternly focused on a pair of thick, heavy black-framed glasses.
She only knew before that the police station could deter malice, shield negative energy fields, and lower the volume of trashy heart-voices. She never knew it could also amplify others’ positive emotions toward her.
But Jiang Xiyao only found it noisy.
It felt like a damp female ghost being chased and illuminated by four lamp-warmed bath heaters on a 40-degree Celsius day.
Where did this ugly…
Hmm?
Jiang Xiyao’s gaze swept over the girl’s heavy, eyebrow-covering bangs, then over the old-fashioned, face-obscuring glasses, finally stopping at her sharp chin.
The mediocre disguise, which could block casual scrutiny, could not fool Jiang Xiyao.
Based on her understanding of human skeletal structure and physiognomy, a 3D model of the person with her forehead exposed and glasses removed instantly appeared in her mind. After coloring it with the same skin tone as her jawline…
Jiang Xiyao let out a soft sneer.
She slowly changed the word “ugly freak” in her heart to “ugly duckling.”
This ugly duckling was not only self-conscious but also cowardly. Jiang Xiyao watched as the girl was carried out sideways less than five minutes after following the female officer into the corridor.
The female officer, who had placed the girl on a nearby bench, looked over apologetically:
“She accidentally saw a photo of the deceased and fainted. You two are from the same school, right? Classmate Jiang, could I trouble you to look after her for a moment? Just call me if anything unusual happens!”
Jiang Xiyao intended to ignore her and walk away—
【Ah! Ah! Ah!】
The squealing chicken, its neck squeezed, crowed loudly in her mind again.
【What is a ‘screen-filling beauty critical hit’?! Senior Sister Wife’s top-tier godly face can totally withstand all death angles! Too beautiful, too beautiful, I’m rewarded!】
Actually, when Xie Shiwei opened her eyes, she knew she’d been scared unconscious by a horrifying image again.
But this was the first time she was so grateful that fainting temporarily erased the relevant memories. Her mind was blank now, she couldn’t recall walking into the statement room, but she did remember:
Close my eyes, open them, and voilà! A miracle happened!
She desperately wanted to faint happily like that again!
But the female officer, ever mindful of her duty, rushed over: “Classmate, are you awake? Your statement wasn’t finished. Could you please continue with us?”
Xie Shiwei sat up regretfully.
However, her eyes unconsciously drifted toward the elegant green skirt of Jiang Xiyao as she approached.
Perhaps genuinely angered by Senior Sister Tang’s pursuit of identical clothing, Jiang Xiyao had changed into a classical, formal outfit. Shimmering light danced across the sheer fabric of the skirt, and the embroidery on the material looked hand-stitched.
She secretly rewarded her eyes and answered the female officer honestly:
“I only saw this boy during the elective class. Lots of students were in that class.”
The female officer: “But someone said they saw both you and him heading toward the school’s artificial lake after class. That was the last place he went before he died in the dorm. Can you try to recall?”
The artificial lake?
Hearing the location, Xie Shiwei felt strange. Only she and Senior Sister Tang were there at the time.
Who is this mysterious person reporting that they saw the deceased there?
Jiang Xiyao, standing nearby with her arms crossed, pondering how to kill her, rolled an elegant eye.
Stupid thing.
Jiang Xiyao didn’t remember the name of the guy who blocked her path to confess, but that didn’t stop her from guessing the reason for the secret report just by hearing the duckling’s few heart-voices.
Humans always develop dark psychologies out of boring jealousy, or the humiliation of having an embarrassing moment witnessed.
Jiang Xiyao wasn’t surprised by the person’s action, only shocked by the ugly duckling’s innocence and simplicity—
Ah. I remember.
She had heard from her kind that some people are born with a good heart, seeing good in everyone, and always look for reasons within themselves when misfortune strikes. Even when they encounter her, it’s hard for them to harbor ill-will.
However, if she custom-made some tragedies for such a person, the negative emotions generated when that pure, flawless heart finally gets stained with a tiny bit of black ink—the day it turns completely black—would be more delicious than anyone else!
At this thought, Jiang Xiyao’s anger from the mental noise slowly faded.
Her intent to kill this ugly duckling also transformed into a slightly expectant appetite.
She had to push this girl into an unprecedented desperate situation. After that heart slowly turned black with despair, she would drain her dry, bit by bit.
Holding onto the anticipation of a grand meal, Jiang Xiyao waited patiently until they walked out of the police station before turning and reaching out to Xie Shiwei.
“You were there yesterday. You had something to give me, didn’t you?”
Her lips curved slightly, showing a familiar, heart-stirring smile, and she lowered her voice, feigning friendliness.
Instead, she saw the girl inexplicably shiver.
Just as Jiang Xiyao found it strange, the other girl obediently took the pink love letter out of her backpack and carefully handed it over.
Her eyes were filled with disdain for this corny confession, but Jiang Xiyao wouldn’t miss this perfect opportunity to harshly humiliate the girl’s heart and embarrass her.
“Tear!”
On the busy street, she brutally and mercilessly ripped open the pink envelope.
“Cheap perfume. It’s so strong it’ll give someone a sinus infection. Don’t you smell it yourself? Did you know you weren’t good enough for me, and deliberately tried to make me sick, to create an opportunity to take advantage of my weakness?”
“What ugly, scrawled handwriting. It wastes paper and pollutes my eyes. What ‘You are my Four Seasons Spring?’ How dare you plagiarize a line with a 100% overlap with a bubble tea shop ad? Who are you taking for a fool?”
“You Jiayi? So that’s your name? Quite creative. ‘Oil plus one’ (Yóu Jiā Yī). I’ll definitely remember you when the restaurant runs out of oil for frying. With this oily piece of work of yours, even gas stations can’t compete.”
Passersby stopped and gathered, drawn by the sharp, melodious voice.
When they realized the two protagonists of the confession scene—one as beautiful as a 3D model from a historical game, and the other sloppily dressed in an old T-shirt and baggy, frayed jeans, with half her face bowed down into the street—they instantly understood the object of the confession’s bad temper and venomous tongue.
The toad wants to eat the swan meat.
Xie Shiwei felt she was about to burst into tears under those mocking, watching-a-clown eyes.
Just before the tears could fall, she heard the name “You Jiayi.” She suddenly took a deep breath and pushed up the glasses sliding down her nose:
【Phew, that was close. She’s scolding You Jiayi. It’s all because Senior Sister’s voice is too pleasant, I almost took it personally.】
【Woohoo, I knew her smile just now meant trouble. Who has ever seen my wife smile and not ended up getting scolded like a dog? It’s my fault, I have no self-control. I rushed up just to listen to this melodious fragrance!】
【Thank you, You Jiayi, for giving me this chance to hear my wife speak so many words! Rest in peace, You’re out! I’ll burn two extra sticks of incense for you during the holidays! Ah, Senior Sister’s voice is killing me, my ears are getting pregnant—】
Jiang Xiyao, who seriously wanted to kill her, heard her becoming absurdly busy naming the two “sensitively pregnant” ears, and her beautiful face suddenly warped.
—She cursed this hard, and the person who wrote the love letter wasn’t even her?!
So this Xie Shiwei, who had followed her the whole way since yesterday, who timidly mentioned having a private matter at the lake to the police, was just helping someone else deliver a love letter?
This was the first time Jiang Xiyao encountered someone so shameless—who broadcasts her affection with a speaker, yet doesn’t even write her own love letter, piggybacking on someone else’s!
Oh no, this loudspeaker hadn’t even uttered a single “like” in her heart-voice.
Jiang Xiyao was enraged to the extreme by Xie Shiwei’s inner monologue, which was debating whether to record the scolding so she could put on headphones and secretly relive it later.
‘Crack’
A subtle, rustling sound, like silk tearing, whispered.
Xie Shiwei’s peripheral vision suddenly caught sight of the seductive red mole at the corner of the beauty’s lips. It seemed like an active goldfish, swimming, trying to break through the skin of her snowy cheek.
【Wow, ancient people painted dragons and dotted the eyes, am I now crazy with love? Is Senior Sister so beautiful in my eyes that even a mole is vivid and full of unique vitality?】
‘Crack’, ‘Crack’, ‘Crack’
The small sounds of skin tearing open, fueled by Jiang Xiyao’s fury and Xie Shiwei’s increasingly brazen heart-voice, became uncontrollable.
Just as the skin on her body was about to collapse—
“Jiang Xiyao.”
A call suddenly came from nearby.
She stood still. Her dark eyes darted around, and as she looked toward the speaker, she belatedly remembered the passersby who were watching the show.
Tang Hui had watched near the police station for a while before confirming that the person who died was not Jiang Xiyao, but the boy who had acted violently by the lake yesterday.
Although she didn’t understand what happened, it didn’t stop her from clearly realizing the regret in her heart.
Jiang Xiyao actually didn’t die.
And now, it seemed the timid, weak junior sister had somehow seized the opportunity to be alone with Jiang Xiyao before she did—Damn it!
She approached with a smile, deliberately stepping between Xie Shiwei and Jiang Xiyao, forcing them apart. She put on a bright expression: “Jiang Xiyao, it’s really great that you’re okay.”
From an angle no one could see, the black aura emanating from her floated like silk toward Jiang Xiyao, silently stitching up the small cracks forming in her hair and under her clothes.
Instinctively consuming this nascent malice, Jiang Xiyao’s fixed gaze shifted, and she casually glanced at Tang Hui.
【She actually didn’t die? She definitely has a secret. I heard that the abandonment of the old school building was also related to her. Does Jiang Xiyao use some kind of special curse to kill people?】
【I need to figure out her secret and get a hold of her weakness. Then… she’ll beg to date me to keep her secret safe, right?】
Surrounded by familiar malice, Jiang Xiyao’s emotions became much more stable.
She listened as Tang Hui falsely expressed concern for her, then gave Xie Shiwei a perfunctory expression of sympathy for being involved in the police investigation, before changing the subject:
“Both of us accidentally passed by that artificial lake and had the bad luck to cross paths with the dead student. This is very unlucky. But I happen to know a little ritual to ward off bad luck.”
“If we hold a sending-off ritual for the deceased near the site at an auspicious time, it won’t just ward off bad luck, it can even bring good fortune! Want to try it together?”
Tang Hui said “we,” but her expectant gaze was only on Jiang Xiyao.
Jiang Xiyao, who heard her scheme loud and clear, chuckled softly.
The abandoned old school building was her favorite playground, after all.
【Oh my god, what’s the difference between this and dancing on a grave? I haven’t read much, Senior Sister Tang, don’t lie to me. I’ve been told since childhood to stay away from places where people have died. Ugh, no way am I going.】
Xie Shiwei broke out in a cold sweat just hearing Tang Hui’s suggestion. She could already picture the pitch-black night in the abandoned school building and the terrifying noises that randomly sprang up.
She cautiously looked at Jiang Xiyao, her gaze only daring to rest on her perfectly beautiful chin.
“Senior Sister Jiang…” She was trying to figure out how to gently advise Jiang Xiyao not to seek death.
However, that heavenly voice softly chimed in at that moment:
“Sounds good.”
Jiang Xiyao agreed without hesitation. Her deep, captivating eyes, as if possessing magic, looked at Xie Shiwei:
“Then let’s go together?”
Xie Shiwei’s face showed an unprecedented conflict. Even the fingertips clutching her glasses frame turned white with effort.
Even without hearing her heart-voice, Jiang Xiyao knew which way the internal scale would ultimately tip.
After all, no one can refuse her—
“S-Sorry.”
A few seconds later, Xie Shiwei’s weak, cowardly voice sounded: “I, I won’t go, okay?”
