The Senior Student (female) Is Not Human - Chapter 60
Chapter 60: Lucky Star
Overflowing, begging her for relief.
The frantic drama on the stage was interrupted by a group of security guards rushing in from outside the auditorium.
School leaders had received complaints from students in the auditorium:
“The performance by the Literary Research Society in the Grand Auditorium is excessively bloody and violent. For the sake of university students’ mental health and growth, please send someone to terminate the show!”
It was said that someone had even called the police and an ambulance.
The doctors and nurses from the ambulance rushed to the bloody stage as a matter of routine, only to see the “victim” calmly sit up in the pool of bl00d, her voice full of life and cursing:
“Haven’t you ever seen a horror-themed stage performance? What a fuss! Did I ask you to save me?”
One doctor, unconvinced, checked her pulse and heartbeat. Half a minute later, the doctor complimented the extreme realism of her abdominal wound as “professional” before turning to rescue the students in the audience who were vomiting to the point of collapse.
Xie Shiwei watched the student playing the Prince, who was still screaming as the security guards dragged him away:
“Impossible! Absolutely impossible! I just cut open her chest, her bl00d, her internal organs, were all warm, and her heart was still beating! Did you see it? I killed her! I did!”
Even the president standing next to her showed an expression of disbelief.
However, the president was quickly and roughly pulled away by the security guards and taken to the school leaders.
Only Xie Shiwei was left standing behind the curtain, staring blankly at the rapidly spiraling plot.
What was going on now?
Did Jiang Xi-yao really change the script to be horror-themed on her own? And then the Prince went crazy while performing?
Xie Shiwei lowered her head to look at the bloodstain on her skirt hem.
She bent down, rubbing her finger across the dark-red droplet, yet managed to rub off a piece of… paper scrap?
Xie Shiwei vigorously shook her head and focused her eyes on the stage again.
【It’s ketchup, it’s ketchup, it’s ketchup… not bl00d! Stupid brain, don’t faint, don’t faint!】
Perhaps she was focusing too intensely, but in her vision, the spreading bloodstains began to precipitate into fragments. At first glance, the pool of bl00d looked like it was composed of countless dark-red scraps of paper.
The more Xie Shiwei looked, the faker the pool of bl00d seemed.
On the stage.
Jiang Xi-yao stood eerily still in the center spotlight, listening to the doubtful thoughts of the doctors and nurses, and the frantic murmuring of her prey.
【Is that girl a medical student? Those intestines look too real! Or am I just behind the times? Has haunted house makeup gotten this awesome?】
【I definitely killed her! How can she still be alive? Is she a monster? She can’t be human, can she?】
According to Jiang Xi-yao’s usual habits, she should have abandoned this area without hesitation.
She should have moved to a new location.
But Jiang Xi-yao looked at the figure standing blankly behind the curtain and couldn’t move her feet.
—Xie Shiwei is still here. Where else could she go?
Not only did Jiang Xi-yao not hide her abnormality, but she uncharacteristically showed even more of it.
As long as Xie Shiwei didn’t faint, as long as she didn’t show fear or disgust towards her.
Jiang Xi-yao thought that if Xie Shiwei was willing to watch, she could even perform a magic trick. A trick to gather the bl00d and internal organs, turning them back into flying fragments and returning the stage to its original state.
Her dark hair fell messily around Jiang Xi-yao’s face. Her complexion was paper-white from bl00d loss, but her lips were bl00d-red from the poison she had previously swallowed.
The “Snow White,” whose appearance was closer to the original text than ever before, radiated unparalleled allure despite her bizarre state. Yet, she didn’t care how many prey were looking at her; she only cared about that slender figure.
Until Xie Shiwei looked up, her gaze meeting Jiang Xi-yao’s lightless eyes.
Xie Shiwei’s face showed hesitation, but a few seconds later, she still raised her hand and beckoned to Jiang Xi-yao.
“!”
Jiang Xi-yao’s dark eyes instantly lit up.
She rushed towards Xie Shiwei without hesitation, like a dog finally allowed to return to its owner’s side.
The rushing motion made the embrace audible.
Xie Shiwei ignored the spot where she was bumped and cautiously asked: “Are you… okay?”
Jiang Xi-yao tightened her hug, rubbing her cheek hard against Xie Shiwei’s, her tone as spoiled as usual:
“How could I be okay? The ones with the problems are those… idiots who took the stage seriously, right? Haha, did you see? That stupid man’s immersive performance! He actually thought he could kill me!”
Hearing that she still had the energy to mock others, Xie Shiwei felt relieved.
Then the girl couldn’t help but retort:
“How is that stupid? The scene was so real it almost scared me to death, okay?”
【I can’t even imagine if I hadn’t held on and fainted just now, whether I would have forgotten this event or even forgotten you… The thought of that is terrible! After all, I’ve already forgotten you once!】
【Wait a minute, could that be why I had amnesia last time—because I fainted? Given this bad guy’s habits, I feel like the probability is pretty high?】
Hearing her mumbling, Jiang Xi-yao couldn’t help but refute the thought internally.
It was still different from last time.
She raised her hand and stroked the top of Xie Shiwei’s head, thinking pensively:
So, as long as the injury remains within the human range, Xie Shiwei can slowly adapt, but she absolutely cannot reveal her non-human side in front of her.
The bad dog had explored another limit of her owner’s tolerance. She contentedly kissed the girl’s temple and teased:
“Didn’t you already see it in the prop room that day? How are you still scared? You’re so timid, my Xie Shiwei.”
Xie Shiwei couldn’t help but bristle: “How is that the same!”
Jiang Xi-yao’s clear black and white eyes showed confusion. She even looked down at her own empty abdomen, which was also sparse at the moment.
“What’s the difference?”
It’s just the difference between having the internal organs removed already and having them removed right now, isn’t it?
Xie Shiwei was choked with anger.
Her mind uncontrollably replayed the scene she had just witnessed: the Prince swinging his sword, stabbing the girl’s body repeatedly, the red sword coming out of the white flesh. Then he started pulling out…
Stop!
Xie Shiwei felt that recalling such images was still too much for her.
She said angrily: “It was just scary! Scarier than last time!”
Jiang Xi-yao agreed without hesitation: “Okay.”
She kissed Xie Shiwei’s cheek and soft lips again: “It’s all my fault for scaring my girlfriend again. Let me make it up to you, okay?”
The front of the stage was still in chaos, loud and noisy.
The culprit who caused all this, however, was blatantly kissing her girlfriend backstage.
But Xie Shiwei wasn’t buying it.
She still felt something was off.
She pushed away the beautiful face, which looked sinister due to the bloodstains. Her gaze briefly dropped downward then quickly moved away: “The sword that person had looked very sharp… How did you cooperate?”
“Who would cooperate with that pathetic ugly thing?” Jiang Xi-yao was still resentful of hearing others mentioned by her.
But Xie Shiwei looked pale, so she could only silently suppress her ill-timed jealousy and casually made up a lie:
“Don’t they have props like that in magic shows? Swords that can retract. The tip just shrinks in with a little force. Magicians use those kinds of props for things like ‘Sawing a Woman in Half’ and ‘Silver Sword through the Box,’ right?”
Jiang Xi-yao firmly guided her girlfriend towards what she could accept.
“As for the internal organs taken out afterward, those were specially custom-made, too, remember? Last time you guessed there was something under my clothes, right? I thought it was a good suggestion, so I made some realistic internal organs.”
“Of course, I also hid the snake or centipede you mentioned inside. Do you want to see?”
Jiang Xi-yao made up stories while constantly preparing to modify the form of the skin covering her abdomen based on the ample malice she had just absorbed.
In any case, this body was formed from her original template. If she wanted to, she could mold herself into any shape.
Even if Xie Shiwei suddenly imagined some bizarre creature, like a human with a snake’s tail or a human with a fish’s tail, Jiang Xi-yao could mold herself into that.
Evidently, Xie Shiwei’s capacity for acceptance couldn’t keep up with her imagination for the time being.
The girl instantly sprang out of her embrace.
“A snake? A centipede? Did you really put them in? Alive or dead? Don’t come near me!”
Jiang Xi-yao slowly puffed out her cheeks like a pufferfish.
She glared at the distance that had opened up between them.
In less than three seconds, she chased after her again, pulling her back into her arms. Her silky black hair cascaded down, like a black cage descending from all directions, locking the girl back in her embrace.
“I misremembered. I think I forgot to add the snake and centipede. Xie Shiwei, don’t hide from me.”
Xie Shiwei tried to contain herself, then looked up at her sincerely: “…It’s hard for me not to hide from those things.”
Jiang Xi-yao ignored her: “I said, don’t hide from me!”
Xie Shiwei was used to humoring such petulant demands. After saying “Mhm, mhm,” she poked her head out to look at the still chaotic front stage. She then took Jiang Xi-yao’s hand and led her through the backstage area, heading home under the moonlight.
The Literary Research Society’s shocking performance sparked a fervent discussion in the school for half a month.
It was said that many students suffered serious psychological distress after watching the show. Parents sought accountability from the school, and the leaders, in turn, pressured the president of the Research Society and his parents.
The society was quickly disbanded.
At the same time, the school tightened its review of club activities.
Because the performance incident led to many discussions about internal activity scores, the school administration specially revised the credit rules. Internal activities were henceforth only for students’ entertainment to enrich their lives and would no longer count toward academic credit evaluation.
In the end—
Xie Shiwei, solely by virtue of her excellent GPA and perfect attendance, was awarded the school scholarship.
The day the scholarship notification arrived in her account, her feelings were complex.
She heard a feigned sigh of worry coming from behind her.
A slightly cool body pressed against her without any gap. Jiang Xi-yao kissed the round vertebrae of her neck, moving downward one section at a time.
“You’re so hard to please, Xie Shiwei.”
“You’re unhappy when you have no money, and you’re unhappy when you have money. How can I make you happy all the time?”
It was said that people live longer when they are happy, so Jiang Xi-yao hadn’t bullied her to tears recently.
Xie Shiwei blinked, avoiding the tickle of her kisses.
Apart from her “active invitation” in the drama’s dressing room, Jiang Xi-yao had only been giving her ordinary hugs and snuggles since then.
A body accustomed to feasting on delicacies, now starved for a long time, magnified even the smallest intimate contact infinitely.
Xie Shiwei even felt her scalp tingle from the kisses.
Her answering tone began to waver: “I’m not unhappy?”
She was the one who pulled away first, and now that the kissing had stopped, she was the one actively leaning back.
The girl, greedy for touch, spoke the truth without thinking:
“I should say my feelings are complex.”
“I used to be a very unlucky person. If there was a stone on the road, out of all the pedestrians who walked by, I would be the one to trip. If there was a creep in the crowd, out of all the girls who walked past, I would be the target.”
“I thought I could only rely on my own ability to achieve things in this life. If my ability wasn’t enough, I would never reach it.”
“But ever since I met you, I feel like I’m slowly learning what good fortune is.”
Xie Shiwei had always believed that an unlucky person like her would only bring misfortune and disaster to those around her.
But Jiang Xi-yao was the first person in her life who not only wasn’t afraid of these calamities but would actively provoke them. She resolved the disasters for Xie Shiwei and even brought Xie Shiwei unexpected gains.
The girl curiously leaned back into her arms, looking up at her beautiful face:
“If I said I thought you were my Lucky Star, would you be angry?”
Profiting from your girlfriend causing trouble to gain happiness—that sounds pretty despicable, doesn’t it?
Jiang Xi-yao lowered her gaze, looking into her pure, clear eyes.
After a long while, the monster smiled—
Everyone who meets her only harvests misfortune.
Those people’s originally peaceful and successful lives, merely by being drawn to Jiang Xi-yao’s face and then harboring some dark thoughts, would immediately rush toward the worst possible ending.
Previously happy families would be ruined, falling apart. Formerly solid friendships would develop rifts. Even fiercely devoted couples would turn against each other because of Jiang Xi-yao’s presence.
Meeting her was a sign that one’s life was headed for a dead end.
This was the first time since her existence that Jiang Xi-yao had heard anyone call her a Lucky Star.
She lowered her head to kiss Xie Shiwei’s lips: “Then you have to utilize me to the fullest—”
“You have to let me bring you more and more good luck.”
Xie Shiwei couldn’t help but nip her: “Using such an unpleasant word as ‘utilize,’ don’t you have anything nice to say?”
【Having this kind of unexpected gain once is great! How can one always do nothing and wait for good luck to fall from the sky?】
【Besides, I feel like… genuinely entertaining the thought of ‘utilization’ would lead to some very scary outcome.】
Jiang Xi-yao smiled without answering.
It was her nature to lure human malice. Even when facing Xie Shiwei, she couldn’t restrain herself.
She would always be delighted by Xie Shiwei’s exceptionalism, and always slightly annoyed that Xie Shiwei wasn’t as easily lured by her as others. Therefore, the one who was better at restraint between them had always been Xie Shiwei.
Just like now, the reason she could always stop at the edge of intimacy was that she saw the desire constantly accumulating in Xie Shiwei’s body.
Soon.
This person would be overflowing, begging her for relief.
Xie Shiwei saw the meaningful smile in her eyes and wondered why she stopped kissing her halfway.
【It seems to be like this lately. My waist injury from the collision is healed, but why does she still just hold me and snuggle when we sleep at night? Has she already lost interest in me?】
【Right, nudity is easy to get tired of when you see it every day… But I haven’t even had a taste yet! I haven’t had my dinner, oh my goodness! Okay, I’m going to order a bunch of sexy outfits later!】
【I’m going to give her a little newness! I don’t believe she can resist that!】
Jiang Xi-yao slowly raised an eyebrow.
She began to look forward to the “newness” Xie Shiwei mentioned.
For this, she deliberately reduced the fragmented “decorations” she piled on her girlfriend in the following days, just to properly welcome that new experience.
…
New Prey
When Xie Shiwei went to the courier station to pick up her stack of packages, she encountered another unexpected “surprise.”
“Xie Shiwei.”
A pair of tired eyes with dark circles stared chillingly at her from between the courier shelves.
Xie Shiwei was startled: “…President?”
Hadn’t this person dropped out of school because he couldn’t afford to compensate the other students for the emotional damages caused by the performance and was afraid of the accusations? Why was he here?
The president stared at her eerily: “I’ve been looking for you for so long.”
In the past few days, he vaguely realized that the upheaval in his life was all connected to Jiang Xi-yao joining them.
But he couldn’t shake his obsession with her.
He just didn’t understand: “You and I killed her together that day. Why aren’t those people coming to you for compensation?”
Xie Shiwei clutched the express box and cautiously stepped back.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Are you alright? Should I call the police for you? Or should I call the psychiatric hospital?”
The courier station was a public place.
It was rush hour, and many adults picking up packages also looked over.
The president finally burst out in rage:
“What are you pretending about? The apple you gave her that day contained highly toxic cyanide. I personally injected it, but you were the one who handed it to her, weren’t you?”
“Those guys in the audience were terrified because of that. Even if I was wrong, you are my accomplice—shouldn’t you share the compensation? Xie Shiwei! Don’t think you can run!”
A collective gasp of horror swept through the crowd, and people subconsciously moved away from the two of them.
Whispering started nearby.
“What’s going on? Holy cow? Is this a criminal dispute? What terrible poison are they talking about? Did these two poison someone? We need to call the police!”
“Such a young girl, goodness, you really can’t judge a book by its cover.”
“These two are only university age, right? What kind of grudge do they have with someone to use such a cruel method?”
Xie Shiwei felt her temples throbbing.
But she understood the president’s meaning.
It turned out this person was being chased by the students’ parents for debt and was now looking for a scapegoat.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I only found out that day of the play that you privately changed the script and made the scene bloody and violent, which caused some audience members to suffer psychological trauma.”
“You can’t afford to compensate those students for emotional damages, and now you’re trying to extort people who were also in the performance that day? Cyanide apple? I’ve never heard of it. Jiang Xi-yao is perfectly fine. Do you want me to take you to see her?”
Hearing the name “Jiang Xi-yao,” the president’s eyes glowed with an intense fire.
“Of course I want to see her! It’s all because of her! It’s her fault I became this way—How is she not dead! The poison in that apple was a lethal dose! Why isn’t she dead!”
The murmuring onlookers stopped.
They looked left and right, seemingly understanding the situation now: a seemingly mentally ill person was harassing the young woman.
They enthusiastically blocked the troubled man for Xie Shiwei.
As Xie Shiwei turned to leave with her packages, she heard the president’s breakdown echoing behind her:
“She should have died by my hand! I was the one who killed her first! Me!”
The stage play had ended long ago, but as Xie Shiwei left the courier station, she suddenly recalled the characters like the ‘Huntsman’ and the ‘Dwarfs’ who had rushed to kill Jiang Xi-yao.
Their race to murder seemed far from over, and even the president had joined in.
Xie Shiwei stopped halfway, acting on a sudden impulse. She took out her phone and searched:
Does cyanide have a smell?
“It usually has a bitter almond smell, but the specific perception varies from person to person. Some people may not be able to detect it, or they might describe it as the smell of a swimming pool.”
Like disinfectant, and a bitter, mutated version of the almond juice she drank as a child.
Xie Shiwei stared fixedly at her phone.
A cheerful figure came toward her, with a familiar tone of complaint:
“Didn’t you just say you were going downstairs to grab a package? What took you so long? Were you trying to secretly unpack and try it out—”
Jiang Xi-yao’s familiar, spoiled tone suddenly stopped.
She heard Xie Shiwei’s thoughts clearly nearby:
【Was she just performing a prank that day…】
【Or did she actually die twice for real?】
