- Episode 2.17 - Let's Make the Crown Prince Regret It!
The letter said this:
**”To the Hero Who Saved the Nation, Lady Mistia Redfield, I hope this letter finds you well.
I sincerely thank you for your kindness at the recent ball.
Now, our country, Terre, has decided to hold a garden party.
Of course, this is to celebrate the birth of a hero in our allied nation, Asteria.
We would be honored if you and the spirits could attend.
May the friendship between Asteria and Terre be eternally blessed.”**
A garden party is an event where the country invites guests on a grand scale to celebrate special occasions. The venue is usually an outdoor garden.
At first glance, this letter seemed like a normal invitation.
However, if you interpreted it more directly, it actually meant this:
**”We’re hosting a party, and you’re the main guest. Attendance is mandatory. No excuses!”**
And it even included a subtle but clear threat:
**”If you don’t attend, it will be a diplomatic issue!”**
Most likely, the officials struggled to soften Prince Gilbert’s direct orders as much as possible.
Although the sender was Gilbert himself, the letter repeatedly mentioned the names of both Terre and Asteria. This showed how much pressure was being placed on Mistia, a noble lady, despite not being royalty.
And since the letter had reached Mistia’s hands, it was clear that King Orland was aware of it as well. Mistia now had no way to escape.
Beyond being exasperated, she started feeling a headache. Just then, Skia spoke.
“Are you okay?”
“Ah… well…”
Mistia couldn’t even bring herself to say “yes.” Seeing her speechless, Solm looked worried. Noticing this, Skia offered his help.
“Can I take a look at the letter?”
“Yes, no problem.”
Mistia handed the letter to Skia.
After reading it, Skia had the exact same expression as Mistia had earlier. Solm’s worried face grew even more anxious.
“…Ha. To sum it up, this is an invitation to the garden party in Terre. It’s not about you personally, so you don’t need to worry too much.”
“I see…”
Hearing Skia’s words, Solm let out a small sigh of relief. Mistia felt bad for making him worry so much.
“I’m sorry, Lord Solm. I will decline the invitation, so please don’t be concerned.”
Mistia placed a hand on her chest and gave a slightly awkward smile. Solm paused for a moment, as if thinking. Then, with a determined expression, he spoke.
“If you refuse, it will bring great shame upon you. That is not something I wish to see. Please, go ahead and attend… Though, having someone like me by your side must be embarrassing.”
“Embarrassing? Not at all!”
Mistia stood up suddenly, responding to Solm’s self-deprecating words with all her might.
Solm was so taken aback by her intensity that he stared blankly. Their eyes met, and he felt a warmth spreading inside his chest. Quickly, he turned his gaze away.
Seeing Solm’s ears turn red, Skia slightly furrowed his brows but soon returned to his usual expression. Then, he spoke again.
“As he said, declining will hurt your reputation, Mistia. I also think you should attend. However, just going there as you are would be boring. Let’s polish this rough gem into a perfect jewel and make his former master regret losing him. I’d love to see the look on his face when he sees a perfectly refined gentleman.”
“Make Gilbert regret it…?”
Solm felt as if lightning had struck him.
Indeed, he had suffered greatly under Gilbert. In the end, he was cast aside and labeled as “useless.”
But because of his kind nature, Solm had never thought about getting revenge or making Gilbert pay for what he had done.
However, if improving himself could prove Gilbert wrong, that would be satisfying. This would be a **positive revenge.**
“If moving forward allows me to make him regret his actions, then I will do everything I can.”
“Lord Solm…”
Mistia’s emerald-green eyes softened with warmth.
Hearing Solm’s sincere words, she felt deeply moved. If he wanted to change, then she wanted to help him.
“I understand. If that’s what you wish, Lord Solm, then let’s go to Terre and make the prince regret it!”
The spirits were mesmerized by Mistia’s radiant smile.
Her smile brightened the atmosphere, like sunlight breaking through the clouds.
Unaware that she had captivated them, Mistia continued speaking.
“Now then, we must prepare an outfit for you, Lord Solm. I have some connections, so I’ll call for a tailor.”
“…I have never had clothes specially made for me before. But unfortunately, I have no money. I will repay this favor through my work as a spirit.”
“I’d like to say don’t worry about it, but… you should thank Skia instead.”
After all, Mistia still had a **huge** amount of money left in her account from selling Skia’s spirit sword. Remembering the astronomical sum, she let out a dry chuckle.
Skia, who had been dragged into the conversation, simply shrugged.
“Then, Lord Solm, how about training with me in swordsmanship? You should be happy—you’ll be personally trained by a Great Spirit.”
Smiling brightly.
A dazzling, perfect smile, almost too cheerful.
Solm had a bad feeling about this and twitched the corner of his lips nervously.
