- Episode 2.9 - The Crisis Revealed
Mistia’s face turned pale.
“Urgent request for review: Reports of a poor harvest in Fura Village, northern Redfield Territory. There is a risk of famine… What a disaster!”
Mistia covered her mouth in shock.
There had been bad harvests before, but this was the first report of a failed harvest. She didn’t know the cause, but as the head of the territory, she couldn’t ignore the crisis her people faced. She couldn’t sit still.
“We must go to Fura Village immediately. We need to see the villagers’ situation for ourselves!”
“Understood. I’ve been to that village before on an expedition, so I can use teleportation magic to get us there.”
“…! Thank you very much.”
Teleportation magic could only be used for places one had previously visited.
Fura Village was three days away by carriage.
Mistia sighed in relief.
“Before we leave, we should inform the Earth Spirit, Solm.”
“Yes, I’d be worried about leaving him alone.”
Solm was still recovering, so dragging him around would be too much.
Mistia nodded and headed back to Solm’s resting room.
She knocked on the door four times.
There was no response.
As she hesitated, wondering what to do, Skia suddenly reached out from beside her and, without hesitation, forcefully opened the door.
Skia had no concept of politeness—except when it came to Mistia.
“We’re coming in.”
At those words, Solm, who was sitting up in bed, frowned deeply.
“I haven’t even responded yet. How polite of you.”
“The room felt stuffy, so I thought I’d air it out.”
A sarcastic exchange followed.
“Sigh… So, what do you want now?”
Solm sighed, realizing arguing further was pointless.
Maybe because his wounds had healed, he seemed less tense than yesterday.
His face had regained some color, and he no longer looked completely exhausted.
He had also changed out of his tattered robe into the simple clothes Mistia had prepared.
“We need to leave immediately for urgent matters. Since you’re still recovering, we’d like you to stay here and rest, Solm-sama.”
Hearing this, Solm’s eyes widened in visible shock.
“Are you going to see him? There’s no way he would take me back. It’s pointless.”
It seemed Solm thought they were heading to Gilbert.
Mistia spoke gently to reassure him.
“You are my spirit. Even if His Highness demanded I return you, I would refuse. If you are uneasy… Well, if you’d like, would you come with us to Fura Village?”
“Fura Village?”
Solm blinked in confusion.
“Yes, it is a village in my territory. We received reports that all crops have died. We are leaving immediately to investigate.”
“…I see. But I cannot believe it without seeing it myself. I will go with you.”
“Are you sure you’re well enough?”
“There is no problem.”
“Understood. But please don’t push yourself. Skia, take him with us.”
“Got it. Teleportation.”
As Skia raised his hand, Solm’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Wait, what kind of magic is that—”
His protests were in vain.
The teleportation magic activated, and the three of them vanished, leaving behind only silence.
