The Stand-In Villainess's Contract Marriage: I Was Divorced After a Year, But For Some Reason, My Ex-Husband Seems to Be Looking for Me - Chapter 4
A few days later.
My sister attended the wedding of a friend, dressed in a gown that Liana had completed.
Her friend was overjoyed to see her after such a long time.
She also reconnected with other friends from the academy, and, as Liana had hoped, she met a man.
Najé, the third son of the Viscount Hoard family.
He was a friend of the groom, and though they met for the first time at the wedding, he apparently fell in love with her at first sight and fervently pursued her.
“To think he would flirt with a lady at their first meeting!”
When Liana first heard this, she was furious, but her sister desperately defended him.
“Flirting? You’re exaggerating. He just complimented the dress, saying it was beautiful and that it really suited me.”
As my sister said this, recalling the event, her pale cheeks blushed red, making her look dazzlingly beautiful.
Watching her, Liana’s anger gradually faded.
All she wished for was her sister’s happiness.
If that was what her sister desired, she had no reason to oppose it.
Afterward, Liana discreetly investigated the Viscount Hoard family through a clothing store she delivered embroidery to.
The Hoard family’s land and title were modest, and both Liana and her sister barely maintained their noble status.
While they knew they were not in a position to be picky, Liana still wanted her sister, who had worked so hard, to find happiness.
That’s why she needed to see if Najé from the Hoard family could truly make her sister happy.
Though their title was somewhat lower, the Hoard family was quite old, and Najé’s father, the viscount, worked at the royal palace.
His wife had also once worked at the palace as a lady-in-waiting, and both were known for their seriousness and sincerity.
Najé was the third son of this viscount family.
He was two years older than her sister, making him twenty-four.
Like his father, he worked at the royal palace as a civil servant and apparently had no plans to marry.
So, until now, he hadn’t had a fiancée.
When Liana heard he had approached her sister at their first meeting, she initially thought he must be the type to flirt with any woman, but that didn’t seem to be the case.
On the contrary, he was serious, with no rumors of him being involved with women.
If such a man complimented her sister and spoke to her as if he were wooing her, then perhaps he was truly serious.
Her sister was modest yet refined, with gentle features and a sincere personality.
It was no surprise to Liana that someone would fall in love with her at first sight.
Liana was also happy that the dress she had embroidered, with hopes for her sister’s happiness, had been complimented.
If her sister wished for it, Liana was determined to fully support her.
After the wedding, her sister continued to keep in touch with her friend.
It seemed that the friend was trying to bring her sister and Najé together, inviting her to visit or going out with her and her husband in groups of four.
Seeing her sister so happy filled Liana’s heart as well.
When she heard that her sister had finally been invited to Najé’s house, Liana enthusiastically made her a new dress for the visit.
Of course, it featured Liana’s embroidery.
“Since they’re a practical family, if they ask about our parents’ debt, it’s best to tell them it’s almost paid off and that we’re now studying land management.”
However, she made sure to remind her sister not to mention the Earl of Tweed.
Though Liana was grateful to him, she wanted to distance her sister from the name “Wicked Woman Lana.”
“…I understand. But is that really okay?”
“Of course. I’m sure they’ll bless your happiness, sister.”
Liana said this with certainty and waited for Najé to arrive to pick up her sister.
Since it was her first time meeting him, she felt she had to greet him properly.
With that in mind, she stood beside her sister, waiting for Najé’s carriage to arrive.
Soon, the Hoard family’s carriage arrived.
It was somewhat small, but its dignified presence spoke of the Hoard family’s long history.
Najé, who stepped out of the carriage, was not very tall, but he seemed like a calm and sincere man.
Seeing how he had a similar atmosphere to her sister, Liana thought they would surely make a good couple.
However, after softly smiling at her sister, Najé furrowed his brow slightly as he looked at Liana.
Had something about her displeased him? Liana wondered, tilting her head in confusion.
But since he gazed lovingly at her sister, it didn’t seem to be an issue between the two of them.
“Pleased to meet you. I am Eslee’s younger sister, Liana.”
As Liana greeted him and bowed her head, he introduced himself as well, though his expression didn’t seem entirely friendly.
It appeared that what displeased him was Liana herself.
“My younger sister Liana is always helping me.”
Her sister spoke cheerfully, but she didn’t seem to notice Najé’s gaze.
Deciding not to worry about it too much, Liana smiled and saw them off warmly.
Even after the carriage had left, Liana stood in place for a while.
It might be a bit of a problem if her sister’s potential husband disliked her. Should she try talking to him to improve their relationship?
Or maybe it would be better not to do anything?
(It’s hard to know how to handle this when I don’t even know what he dislikes about me…)
She sighed quietly.
Though he had made a displeased face upon seeing her, there must have been a reason for it.
Despite her concerns, when her sister returned, she seemed overjoyed, and Najé no longer showed any hostility toward Liana.
But…
Liana sensed that his earlier expression hadn’t been a misunderstanding but that he had skillfully concealed his true feelings.
Impressed by how well he hid his emotions, she couldn’t help but admire his professionalism, as one would expect from someone working at the royal palace.
