The Strongest Delivery Man - Chapter 14
As Wen Xin watched the taillights ahead gradually disappear, she couldn’t even find the urge to complain anymore. She turned her head and glared fiercely at Fang Ye.
“Don’t do anything ruthless! The race has just started!” Fang Ye was startled by her intense gaze.
Wen Xin scoffed. “Relax, if I were to do anything, it’d be on the way down the mountain—that way, we’d die more thoroughly. By the time the ambulance arrives, we’d be long gone!”
“I told you, I won’t lose.” Fang Ye smiled faintly and floored the accelerator—the infamous twenty eight bends lay ahead.
Wen Xin screamed, “What are you doing?! That’s a sharp turn ahead! Slow down!”
The Wuling Hongguang S had reached its top speed. It wasn’t a McLaren, but it was still hitting 130 km/h. Taking a turn at that kind of speed with this kind of car could only end in disaster!
Fang Ye steered with one hand, completely unfazed. “Relax, I’m not blind.”
The spectators were dumbfounded by the sheer madness of what they were witnessing.
As the van entered the turn, Fang Ye’s left hand remained still while his right hand became a blur, moving too fast for the eye to track. Under his almost supernatural control, the van hugged the curve perfectly, executing a flawless drift—precise to the centimeter.
The crowd collectively gasped. This was pure insanity—one small mistake, and it was a straight ticket to the afterlife!
“No way! How the hell did that work?!”
“That wasn’t just dumb luck. That drift was too perfect!”
“Wait… is this guy actually good? Can he really beat a McLaren with a Wuling?!”
“I find that hard to believe…
******
“We… we made it?!” Wen Xin could hardly believe her eyes. A van—drifting that cleanly?!
Fang Ye didn’t slow down in the slightest. Still steering one-handed, he entered the next turn and pulled off another picture-perfect drift, leaving the audience in awe.
Not even halfway through the Twenty-Eight Bends, Liu Fei caught sight of Fang Ye’s headlights in his rearview mirror.
“What the hell?! He caught up?!” Liu Fei’s face turned pale, nearly sending his car off the cliff.
“Fei, hold steady!” Li Qiqi was on the verge of wetting herself.
The Winter Resound Mountain wasn’t the tallest, but a fall from here would still be a good forty to fifty meters, causing instant death.
She was young, pretty, and definitely not ready to die!
“Shut up!”
Gritting his teeth, Liu Fei pushed his speed up a notch, but he still instinctively braked before every turn.
On a road like this, even going over 60 km/h was already pushing it. He wasn’t insane enough to take every corner at over 100 like Fang Ye.
Losing the race was one thing, but losing his life was another.
Before the race was even over, the Wuling Hongguang had overtaken the McLaren.
Liu Fei’s heart shattered as he saw Fang Ye in the driver’s seat—one hand on the wheel, looking completely at ease.
By the time the Wuling Hongguang S reached the finish line, the McLaren P1 was still struggling through the final set of hairpin turns.
A bet’s a bet. With so many eyes on him, Liu Fei had no choice but to hand over his car keys and transfer 10 million dollars to Fang Ye’s account.
“Pleasure doing business.” Fang Ye grinned as he took the keys, then casually handed them to Wen Xin, who was still in shock.
“I’ll keep the money, but the car’s yours.”
“This car… for me?” Wen Xin couldn’t believe her ears.
This was a supercar worth over 10 million dollars, and he was giving it away just like that?!
“If you don’t want it, I’ll just auction it off right here,” Fang Ye teased, pretending to take the keys back.
“Who said I don’t want it?!” Wen Xin snatched them away. “Consider it compensation for the emotional trauma you put me through.”
“Huh? What trauma?” Fang Ye asked, acting puzzled.
“Ever since you picked that Wuling Hongguang for therace, my heart has been in distress. I still haven’t recovered!”
“You really know how to twist things…”
As Liu Fei watched his beloved car, along with the infamous Veneno drive away from the Winter Resound Mountain, he clenched his teeth in fury.
Losing money and a car was one thing—but the worst part?
A video of him losing to a van would be all over the internet soon.
His title as “Winter Resouns Mountain’s Racing King” was now a thing of the past…
After returning to the Trench Warfare internet Café, Meng Hu and his friends were still happily gaming with the female staff. Somehow, having beautiful women around had significantly improved their PUBG skills.
The very cheerful Wen Xin decided to waive all their internet fees, as well as promising that all their future internet fees will be waived as well, but only on one condition—— Fang Ye had to be here.
“Why do I have to be there? You’ve got some ulterior motive?” Fang Ye frowned. With his roommates’ shamelessness, he knew they’d drag him here every day.
“No ulterior motives at all,” Wen Xin said sweetly. “I just want you to play PUBG with me.”
“If you really don’t want to come, I can take back my offer—no more free access, even if you do show up. Happy now?”
“Wait, you misunderstood! Xiao Ye didn’t mean that!” Meng Hu quickly stepped in, grinning. “You’re so beautiful, he’d be lucky to even play with you! Don’t worry, we’ll be here every day. If he dares skip out, we’ll just drag him in. What’s he gonna do, fight back?”
“Mmph—mmph!” Fang Ye tried to protest, but Qin Yiming and Hu Fei had already clamped their hands over his mouth.
He had no choice but to surrender.
******
The next afternoon, as soon as Fang Ye started working, he received his first order.
The destination was a youth apartment complex near the shopping district.
After ringing the doorbell, a beautiful young woman opened the door.
“Hi, your bubble tea is here.”
“Thanks.” As she took the drink, she suddenly gave him a curious look. “Wait… are you Fang Ye?”
“You know me?” Fang Ye was puzzled. “Who are you?”
“I was your high school classmate!” The girl smiled. “What, a little makeup and you don’t recognize your old friends anymore?”
Fang Ye’s memory clicked. “Wait, you’re Shen Yaner!”
Back in high school, she had been both the class president and the school beauty. After a few years, she had only gotten more stunning.
“Took you long enough,” Shen Yaner pouted playfully. “Didn’t you write me a love letter back then?”
Fang Ye gave an awkward laugh. “Hahaha… did I? I don’t really remember…”
Back in high school, he had been young and naïve—thanks to too many romance dramas, he’d written quite a few subtle love letters to various pretty classmates. Whether he had sent one to her, though… he genuinely couldn’t recall.
Shen Yaner sized him up. “Didn’t you get into Hua University? Why are you…”
“I’m just working part-time,” Fang Ye explained with a smile. “Didn’t you get into Huahai Normal University? Renting an apartment with your boyfriend?”
“Oh, shut up. Where would I even have the time for a boyfriend?” Shen Yaner sighed. “I’m renting this place for the same reason as you—to make money.”
“Your little brother’s illness still isn’t cured?” Fang Ye remembered her family’s struggles. Her brother had a rare disease that had drained their family’s finances for years.
Shen Yaner nodded. “It’s stable now, but I need to save 500,000 dollars for his surgery. The doctor says there’s an 80% chance it’ll fully cure him.”
“How much do you still need?” Fang Ye asked. “I’ve saved up some money recently. If you—”
“No need,” she interrupted with a smile. “I know your family’s situation too. If it weren’t for my brother, I might’ve ended up as your girlfriend back then.”
She continued, “I’m streaming on the Squid platform now. I earn way more than a delivery job. But still, thanks for the offer.”
Fang Ye fell silent. He knew she was too proud to accept charity.
“How about this?” he suggested. “Give me your channel info, and I’ll bring my roommates to support you.”
“That won’t be too much trouble?”
“Not at all. They’re all hopeless single guys, once they see a pretty girl, they won’t leave.” Fang Ye smiled, “I’ll ask them to sign up for a card and send those little gifts in live streams, that won’t cost much.”
“Alright then, thank you in advance!” Shen Yaner didn’t insist any further. Getting a card only cost six yuan anyway. It really wasn’t a big deal.
