The Temptation of Neighbors - Chapter 24
“What is ‘Pammy Wireless’?” John asked, unable to resist his curiosity.
“It’s a wireless network technology that uses ‘dark crystals’ as a radiation source,” it replied.
“What are its special features?” John asked again.
“One of the greatest features of ‘Pammy Wireless’ is that it can turn the virtuality of the network into reality. All of people’s material and spiritual needs can be realized and satisfied online,” it explained patiently.
Wow, this is so impressive! Our excitement is high.
Kov glanced at me, then turned to the monster and asked, “Can you be more specific?”
The monster wiggled its tentacles and replied, “Yes, let’s start with the physical aspect. For example, if you want an apple, you can go to a fruit website and download the apple cells from the website to your computer. When you want to eat the apple, you power on the bio-cloning machine next to your computer. Then, run the bio-cloning software on your computer, copy the apple cells from your computer to the bio-cloning machine, and click the “Clone” button on the bio-cloning software. After a few seconds, a fresh red apple will roll out of the bio-cloning machine and onto your computer desktop. It’s spotless and ready to eat without washing. The whole process is as simple as printing a paper document.”
My heart pounded as I heard it speak, and I felt a slight tremor in my limbs.
I wondered: Is there such online technology? My companions felt the same way. They seemed in disbelief at what they were hearing. Some stared in shock, while others chuckled.
“What else?” Ellie asked, seeming completely convinced.
“The greatest appeal of the ‘Pammy Wireless Network’ is that it can satisfy people’s spiritual needs face-to-face. For example, if you want to listen to a pop star sing or find a beautiful woman to share a glass of wine with, you can log on to a talent resource website and download a compressed file containing the person’s original cells and brain. First, you’ll clone her body in the biological cloning machine next to your computer, then implant the downloaded thoughts into her brain through a computer program. Then, a living, thinking person will emerge from the cloning machine and sing for you or drink with you.”
“Oh my god, is there such a thing?” I exclaimed.
“Of course it does,”
the monster continued. “The most fun thing about the ‘Pammy Wireless Network’ is the online movies and games. You can clone yourself and immerse yourself in the game or movie to experience the most realistic thrills and excitement.”
We stopped asking questions because it sounded so real.
We were all deeply interested and yearning for this wireless network. It would be great to try it out for ourselves.
“Can we try it out?” Yili expressed our deepest desire.
“Yes, once you’re all well, we’ll send you to the ‘Global Village’ and give you each a computer.” The monster patiently continued answering our questions.
“We don’t want to go back to Earth,” Jordan protested.
“Not back to your Earth, but to the ‘Global Village.’ There’s a village on our planet called ‘Global Village,’ inhabited only by Earthlings.”
“Huh? Are there Earthlings on this planet?” Alvin asked eagerly.
“Yes, 21,569. Now, including the eight of you, that’s 21,577.”
“Ah, so many Earthlings, how did they get here?” Alvin asked again.
“They came differently than you did. You came here on your own spaceships, but they didn’t…”
“How did they get here?” John asked.
“You’ll find out when you get to the ‘Global Village.’ I have things to do, so I’ll answer all your questions first. I’m leaving now. Welcome to Planet Pammy,” the monster said politely, turning and walking away.
Our eyes followed it to the door, and finally, coming to our senses, we happily hugged each other.
“Do you believe in real aliens?” Yili asked Lian Zhengyu.
“You saw it with your own eyes, and you still don’t believe it?” Lian Zhengyu replied, looking at her.
“I can’t believe it,” Yi Li said to Lian Zhengyu. “It seems your directness was right.”
“My directness is the master’s directness. By the way, master, what’s your name?” Lian Zhengyu asked, tilting his head.
“Oh, what’s my name? I was just about to ask you, what’s my name?” I asked back. “
You forgot your own name, no wonder you can’t remember ours,” Yi Li said with a smile, making everyone laugh. I smiled foolishly too.
With something like this happening, how could we not be happy?
Of course, it wasn’t about my name, but the fact that we had arrived in a highly civilized and advanced society.
I think we’ll be reluctant to sleep for a long time, because everything here has us so excited.
I suspected I had amnesia and asked them to accompany me to see a doctor, and they happily agreed.
As we were about to leave, I noticed everyone was wearing a tight white suit. I guess it was the uniform issued to patients at this hospital.
I led everyone out of the large ward.
The hallway’s floor and walls were crystalline. Each round door had an electronic sign, written in a variety of languages: insect-like, Sanskrit, English, and Chinese.
I only understood the Chinese, but it said: Child Growth Room, Flesh Cloning Room, Respiratory Conversion Room, Brain Microcrystal Storage Room, Cranial Nerve Implantation Room, Brain Microcrystal Repair Room, and Defective Nerve Removal Room.
Just then, two people emerged from one of the rooms: one was the “ant tribe” monster from earlier, and the other was Long Yuhan.
Seeing Long Yuhan, Yili quickly stepped forward, stepped down, grabbed both of his arms, and examined him from head to toe.
“Sister, what’s wrong with you?” Long Yuhan asked expressionlessly.
“Are you okay?” Yili asked, concerned.
“I’m fine. By the way, are you all okay?” he asked.
“We’re all fine,” Lian Zhengyu said.
Long Yuhan leaned over to the monster doctor and asked, “Doctor, are you still answering my question?”
“What’s the question?” Yili asked curiously.
“I asked it, how did we get here?”
What Long Yuhan said was what we wanted to ask, and we all turned to the monster doctor.
It saw the doubts in our eyes, so it took out a computer button from its jacket pocket, launched the screen, moved its tentacles, and answered us in Chinese translated from the screen: When you fell into Huolang Star, you were discovered by our space rescue search team, and we used an airship to intercept your spaceship and rescued you. When you were sent to the hospital, you adults were still breathing a little, and no part of your body was burned. We repaired it with a simple operation because your brain nerve microcrystals are still in your body. However, Long Yuhan had already died when he was sent here, and his brain microcrystals had overflowed from his body. We performed a major operation on him. First, we took out an active cell from his body for cloning, and then implanted his brain microcrystals found in the atmosphere into his body, and he came back to life…
