The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 1
“I’m sorry, but I still don’t think we’re a good match,” the woman said, rising from her seat at the café. Her tone was apologetic as she paid the bill.
Song Feiyu remained seated, slightly dazed.
This marked her thirty-eighth failed matchmaking attempt.
Ordinarily, Alphas were highly sought-after in the matchmaking market, yet she kept hitting dead ends.
Once, Song Feiyu had been a dazzling, genius-like figure. Tragically, an accident had damaged her glands, rendering her incapable of marking others. Even her pheromones were now as faint as diluted perfume.
While Alphas were generally desirable, an Alpha without marking or reproductive capabilities was considered worthless.
“Not again,” Song Feiyu muttered, propping her cheek against her hand as she dialed the Matchmaker’s terminal.
“I want to cancel my VIP membership with your agency,” she stated bluntly.
“Instructor Song, is there something you’re dissatisfied with? Please don’t cancel! We can introduce you to another beautiful Omega right away.”
“No, thank you. I think I’m better suited to a life of solitude.”
Song Feiyu drained her still-warm coffee in one gulp. Rather than endure repeated humiliation, she preferred to withdraw from this circle entirely.
“But what about your mother? She must still want you to find a partner, Instructor Song.”
“I’m just a useless alpha,” Song Feiyu said, setting down her coffee cup and stepping out the door. “No one would ever want me.”
As she focused on her phone call, arguing with the Matchmaker about canceling her membership, Song Feiyu barely glanced ahead. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her shoulder.
She looked up and realized she had bumped into someone.
The woman wore a brand-new instructor’s uniform: a black jacket paired with knee-high leather boots, adorned with three or four badges. Her pale, almost translucent skin radiated an air of nobility, as if the slightest touch would leave it flushed with red marks. Under the sunlight, her skin nearly blinded Song Feiyu.
“I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry!” Song Feiyu apologized profusely.
“It’s fine,” the woman replied, her voice like a cool spring, icy and clear.
Only then did Song Feiyu notice the woman’s extraordinary beauty. Her delicate eyebrows arched slightly, carrying a hint of the unique, heroic spirit of a female instructor. Her nose was straight and refined, but it was her eyes that truly captivated: dark as the abyss, like black holes in the starry sky, capable of drawing anyone into their depths with a single glance. Her lips were thin but a soft pink, like cherry blossoms in spring.
For a moment, Song Feiyu stood frozen, mesmerized by the woman’s beauty.
“Hello? Hello? Instructor Song, please reconsider! If you cancel your membership now, you’ll lose at least half your deposit.”
Damn it! Song Feiyu cursed inwardly. What a heartless recruitment agency.
Outwardly, however, she remained calm and composed.
“Then I won’t cancel my membership just yet. I’ll give you a few more chances.”
As Song Feiyu spoke, she walked away, leaving Gu Yi standing alone. Gu Yi pressed her lips together, a subtle tenderness flickering in her eyes.
“Captain Song… Song Feiyu…”
“Don’t you recognize me?”
Her words carried a deeper meaning as she gazed at the retreating figure.
When Gu Yi returned home, her body felt feverish. She grabbed a suppressant from the table, her slender fingers tearing open the plastic packaging.
Omegas were born with an inescapable heat cycle, and Gu Yi loathed the primal craving for an Alpha.
Only after the suppressant’s icy chill coursed through her veins did she collapse onto the carpet.
Her father wanted to arrange a marriage for her, but she refused.
She refused to be marked by a stranger. Licking her slightly cool lips, Gu Yi opened her eyes.
Her mind was filled with the person she had met that morning: Song Feiyu.
If she had to choose someone, she would rather be marked by Song Feiyu.
After all, years ago, Song Feiyu had risked her life to save her. Now, it was time to repay that debt with her own body.
Gu Yi reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a pocket watch. She opened it to reveal an old photograph inside.
The photo showed Song Feiyu in her prime, her slightly wavy hair framing a face that radiated both warmth and intellectual beauty. Even with her sheep-like features, she stood out as the leader of the flock.
What would someone like her look like when suppressed, when crying? Gu Yi wondered, her curiosity piqued.
Having inherited her family’s superior genes, Gu Yi was a rare top-tier Omega, capable of suppressing the pheromones of ordinary Alphas.
She remembered Song Feiyu being just a regular Alpha.
Suppressing her with pheromones would be effortless, Gu Yi thought, gently closing the pocket watch.
Letting her imagination run wild, Gu Yi pictured Song Feiyu’s slightly wavy hair—it must be as soft as wool.
After tonight, she’ll be my Alpha.
Song Feiyu was the fleet’s instructor, responsible for training the new recruits to adapt to the space environment.
But just a few days ago, Song Feiyu’s longtime partner had retired due to reaching the mandatory retirement age.
Now, she was supposed to have a new partner.
When she saw the woman disembarking from the small shuttle, Song Feiyu’s eyes widened. Wasn’t this the woman she had seen collapse in the café the other day?
“Instructor Song, hello.”
The woman wore an instructor’s cap, its height towering over Song Feiyu’s own stature, creating an invisible sense of pressure.
“Hello.”
Song Feiyu shook the woman’s hand, but the moment their palms met, she felt the warm pad of an index finger brush against the web of her right hand.
The strange sensation came and went so quickly that Song Feiyu couldn’t quite grasp it.
“My name is Gu Yi. You can call me Instructor Gu from now on.”
Gu Yi released her hand and gazed at Song Feiyu. The other woman remained unchanged from years ago, her slightly wavy long hair, gentle eyes, and warm smile—exactly the captain she remembered.
Seeing Gu Yi’s earnest expression, Song Feiyu dismissed the incident as an accidental brush of fingers. Her lips curved into a slight smile as she returned the gesture.
“Instructor Gu, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Song Feiyu—the ‘Fei’ of ‘jadeite’, the ‘Yu’ of ‘jade pendant’.”
Gu Yilai had replaced a retired colleague. The medals on her uniform made it clear she wouldn’t be staying at the training base for long; she was destined for reassignment.
What surprised Song Feiyu was that Gu Yilai took over training duties on her very first day, without even taking time to rest or settle in.
Fleet soldiers needed to meet rigorous physical standards across all areas and be prepared for any contingency. Training was therefore exceptionally harsh.
Today’s simulation was of an alien battlefield.
Some planets had toxic atmospheres and extremely viscous soil, requiring recruits to learn how to barely walk and fight in such conditions.
Gu Yilai ordered the recruits to put on gas masks and stood coldly to the side.
“Get in. You’re not allowed out until an hour has passed,” she commanded in a frosty tone.
Song Feiyu watched as the recruits plunged into the mud pit like dumplings being dropped into boiling water.
Frowning, she was about to intervene when she saw Gu Yilai’s lips pressed into a thin line and her eyes as cold and serpentine as a snake’s. She knew this woman was no pushover.
“An hour is a bit excessive,” Song Feiyu said softly, her voice gentle. Though she was a few centimeters taller than Gu Yilai, she seemed shorter because she disliked wearing the instructor’s cap.
“Instructor Song, are you feeling sorry for them?”
The thought inexplicably soured Gu Yilai’s mood.
“Add another half hour,” she said coldly.
