The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 17
The doorbell rang repeatedly before the two finally opened the door.
It was Ji Ham, the older man, waiting outside. His gaze swept back and forth between them. As an Alpha, he could naturally detect the faint floral scent clinging to their bodies.
The overpowering jasmine fragrance completely masked the lavender, rendering its presence almost undetectable.
In a sense, Gu Yi hadn’t been wrong. Song Feiyu truly couldn’t be coerced into marking her.
How much possessiveness could an Alpha possibly possess if their pheromones could be suppressed by an Omega’s?
Song Feiyu had braced herself for a storm of accusations, but when she pushed open the intricately carved brown door, the man simply greeted her with a smile.
“Come, sit down.”
Song Feiyu sat awkwardly across from Gu Xuanyu. His hair was half-gray, but his face remained remarkably smooth, showing signs of careful grooming. A string of polished wooden beads adorned his wrist, emitting a faint sandalwood aroma.
“You’re Song Yin?” Gu Xuanyu’s first words immediately exposed Song Feiyu’s true identity.
“Yes,” she nodded.
“Since Gu Yi insists on choosing you, I won’t object,” Gu Xuanyu said calmly, taking a sip of tea.
But all three knew the truth: if he truly didn’t mind, why would he have sent assassins to eliminate her?
“Since you’ve made your choice, you must take responsibility. I think we can move the wedding date forward.”
Song Feiyu’s heart skipped a beat, and she spilled a good amount of tea from the cup in her hand.
“Really?”
She hadn’t expected Gu Xuanyu to so readily agree to marry his daughter to her.
But anything that came too easily always had a catch, so caution was paramount.
Gu Xuanyu looked up and chuckled.
“Of course it’s true. But you’ll have to take my family name.”
This condition was acceptable. Song Feiyu nodded; she didn’t care about family names.
If not for her extraordinary luck, she might have perished in that battle long ago.
“That’s not a problem, but I don’t have…”
Song Feiyu nearly blurted out her infertility before Gu Yi clamped a hand over her mouth.
Gu Yi’s other hand pinched Song Feiyu’s waist sharply, warning her not to speak carelessly.
Song Feiyu blinked.
Fine. With current technology, extracting their genes to produce a child wouldn’t be difficult.
“I don’t have anything…”
Gu Xuanyu, observing his daughter’s anxious demeanor, began to suspect something.
He felt a pang of frustration. Could this old father really be less important than Song Feiyu, whom she’d only known for a few days?
A pretty boy is just a pretty boy, only good for seducing people with his looks.
Gu Xuanyu gazed at Song Feiyu’s pale, refined face, her high-bridged nose, and the faint air of heroism between her brows—a look currently trending in the interstellar entertainment industry.
After leaving Gu Xuanyu’s room, both women exhaled in relief, though the smoothness of their plan’s execution had exceeded Gu Yi’s expectations.
Still, she was delighted that her scheme had succeeded.
Once the deed was done, even her father’s fury would be powerless to undo it.
“My dad just said he’s transferring you to the training base here in the Imperial Capital. You’ll stay here for a year or two, and we’ll discuss other positions after our wedding date is set,” Gu Yi said as she strolled down the corridor, heading for a bath.
Song Feiyu followed her.
“Being an instructor is fine. I can command warships, but I don’t understand the political maneuvering in the Imperial Capital.”
Song Feiyu didn’t lack understanding; she simply loathed it.
As a former captain, she had often needed energy and supplies, and each request required navigating bureaucratic labyrinths, dragging on for weeks.
By the time the resources finally arrived, the Zerg were practically nipping at the warships’ heels.
“Whatever,” Gu Yi replied, turning and taking Song Feiyu’s hand. “You’re covered in injuries. I don’t want you to overwork yourself.”
“Just take good care of yourself. As long as you can keep up with me at night, you’ll be fine.”
Song Feiyu: ……
The more she heard, the stranger Gu Yi’s words sounded. Well, I haven’t been at my best lately, but what can I do?
Her injuries had severely weakened her joints and physical functions.
“Hey, I saw an exoskeleton mechanical leg on the Interstellar Network the other day,” Gu Yi said, pushing open the bathhouse door. As a noblewoman, two baths a day were essential.
“Your joints have been acting up, right? You should try getting one custom-made. It’ll probably make walking less painful on rainy days.”
Song Feiyu wanted to refuse, but she knew Gu Yi meant well. Maybe I should try out some of the Empire’s new technology, she thought, nodding in agreement.
Just then, a butler-like figure emerged from the bathhouse. He wore a black waistcoat over a white shirt, accented by a patterned bow tie. His long hair was half-tied back, giving him the look of a medieval servant.
The butler’s gaze fell on Song Feiyu, a hint of disdain in his eyes. Yet he bowed his head respectfully and reminded Gu Yi, “Third Miss, engaged couples are not permitted to bathe together.”
Gu Yi bristled at the sight of such a disciplinarian, but she knew he was right. Noble families had rules. Before marriage, couples were expected to maintain a distance, symbolizing a focus on preparing for the wedding.
With the wedding date still undecided, the housekeeper’s lecture seemed rather premature.
However, Gu Yi had never been one to make things difficult for servants. She nodded and murmured, “I understand.”
Then, under the housekeeper’s watchful gaze, she pressed herself against Song Feiyu, her crimson lips nearly brushing her ear.
“Go to the third room on the left. I’ll come find you later.”
Song Feiyu glanced at Gu Yi and nodded silently.
Forced to separate, one went left, the other right.
The housekeeper followed Gu Yi, helping her prepare towels and bathing supplies.
Once everything was ready, he quietly withdrew, leaving Gu Yi alone in the vast bathhouse.
Gu Yi soaked in the water for a while, but quickly grew bored. She had originally planned to tease Song Feiyu in the water for fun.
But now…
The housekeeper had discovered them. How infuriating!
Gathering her things, Gu Yi headed toward the bathhouse’s hidden door.
The Gu Family estate had stood for centuries, and many secret passages had been built for escape.
Gu Yi had known the locations of these passages since childhood, which was why she had instructed Song Feiyu to go to the third room on the left.
That was the passage’s exit.
Twisting the statue’s toe, the hidden door slowly creaked open, revealing a lit passage. Gu Yi stepped barefoot onto the damp floor and descended step by step.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Song Feiyu had just arrived at the bathhouse and was immediately stunned by the vast, seemingly endless pool.
Steam rose in thick clouds, and countless lifelike statues adorned the pool. Marble carp sculptures spouted warm water in gentle streams, perfect for cleansing one’s back while reclining in the pool.
Truly, this was the epitome of luxury for the nobility.
Song Feiyu had never seen anything like it in her life. Though born into nobility herself, her inheritance consisted only of endless grasslands and wilderness, along with vast herds of cattle and sheep.
