The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 2
Is this person deliberately trying to antagonize me?
The thought flashed through Song Feiyu’s mind, but she shook her head. That can’t be right.
She had no prior interactions with this person, except for accidentally bumping into them while on the phone a few days ago. There had been no other contact.
Maybe I’m just overthinking it.
After all, the other party clearly appeared to be an Alpha. They wouldn’t hold a grudge over something so trivial.
Petty Alphas were a rare species on this planet.
Instructors were required to live in the base dormitory. Although Gu Yi had just started her job, someone had already moved her luggage into her room.
Over the next few days, Gu Yi only caught glimpses of Song Feiyu during morning drills. Otherwise, she never saw her at all.
Gu Yi felt restless and irritable, especially since she had to take suppressants every few days, which made her feel even worse.
Omegas needed the comfort of Alphas.
For years, Gu Yi had relied on suppressants to get by, but her body had long developed immunity to them.
What used to require just one dose during her heat cycle now required two.
After tearing open the pheromone-blocking patch, Gu Yi expertly applied it to the back of her neck. The patch was designed to mask her pheromones; due to her obsessive cleanliness, Gu Yi hated letting anyone catch even a whiff of her scent.
This is too slow!
Gu Yi studied her reflection in the mirror. The corners of her eyes were red, making her look disheveled.
She recalled the time she’d run into Song Feiyu at the café. Song Feiyu had been on her terminal, discussing a blind date with someone.
With that thought, Gu Yi pulled up her own terminal.
Given her status, it wasn’t difficult to access VIP memberships at several matchmaking agencies. Soon, Song Feiyu’s profile appeared on the screen.
When Gu Yi saw the words “Gland Defect: Unable to Mark,” her eyes widened in shock. She quickly realized that Song Feiyu’s profession likely came with a decent salary, especially considering she was a popular Alpha.
Logically, finding a lifelong partner should have been the easiest thing in the world for her.
Unfortunately, being unable to mark completely nullified Song Feiyu’s greatest asset as an Alpha.
She was reduced to being like a supermarket product, left to be picked over by Omegas and Betas.
Moreover, the inability to mark likely meant her reproductive capabilities were also compromised.
No wonder Betas had overlooked Song Feiyu.
Gu Yi’s fingers flew across the keyboard as she registered for VIP membership on the matchmaking site. But when she reached the “Gender” field, she hesitated.
If she simply entered “Omega,” Song Feiyu would probably agree without a second thought.
Gu Yi didn’t want that kind of response. She wanted Song Feiyu to be truly infatuated with her, not just obsessed with the special pheromones of a top-tier Omega.
In the end, Gu Yi typed “A.”
She dialed the matchmaking center’s contact number, and the familiar voice crackled through the line.
“Congratulations on registering for VIP membership on Red Thread Matchmaking! Alpha, what are your criteria for a partner?”
“I’ve got my eye on someone. Just arrange a blind date for us.”
Gu Yi cut straight to the point.
If her father knew she had turned down countless eligible Alphas only to call the matchmaking center and ask to be introduced to a disabled Alpha, the old man’s beard would probably bristle with fury.
“Who is it? Tell me, tell me!”
The person on the other end had already pulled out a notebook, ready to take notes.
“Song Feiyu, VIP number 8633.”
Afraid they might have trouble finding her, Gu Yi kindly offered a reminder.
“Wait a minute, Miss Gu, are you sure you haven’t made a mistake?”
The Matchmaker’s voice was filled with disbelief. She stared at the file she had pulled up—Song Feiyu was someone she knew intimately, having just planned to introduce her to her thirty-ninth blind date.
“Song Feiyu is an Alpha!”
“You two have the same type!”
“What does that matter?”
Gu Yi brushed aside the objection, her tone almost commanding. “Just arrange for us to meet.”
“This… I’ll have to ask Song Feiyu first,” the Matchmaker hesitated.
“Go ahead and ask,” Gu Yi replied.
It was still the same café. Song Feiyu took a deep breath as the matchmaker informed her that the other party was an Alpha.
She was quite surprised. Why would an Alpha want to meet another Alpha?
Still, Song Feiyu was willing to meet any woman. She firmly believed that with a sincere heart, someone would eventually accept her.
Even an Alpha wouldn’t be a problem. After all, it was the modern era; two Alphas being together was perfectly normal.
As she pushed open the door, her first instinct was to look for her usual seat.
There, she saw a tall figure in a crisp white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, a delicate silver bracelet glinting against her pale skin. The cold, metallic sheen of the bracelet only accentuated her aloofness, making her seem like a snow lotus blooming high in the mountains.
“Hello,” Song Feiyu said, settling into her seat. When she looked up and saw the other woman’s face, she was stunned.
Why does this face look so familiar?
The more she looked, the more she resembled someone—her colleague!
“Instructor Song, long time no see,” Gu Yi said, removing her sunglasses and flashing a smile.
Her features were striking, yet her makeup was light, a style that didn’t quite align with the typical Alpha aesthetic.
In truth, they had just met yesterday.
“You’re not deliberately trying to mess with me, are you?”
“Dear Instructor Gu, have I done something wrong?”
Song Feiyu rubbed her temples, already sensing this blind date was about to fail.
“No,” Gu Yi replied, shaking her head slightly. She took a small sip of coffee from her pale pink lips.
“Since you’re a useless Alpha anyway, why not try getting along with me?” Gu Yi proposed.
“Instructor, I can’t mark anyone,” Song Feiyu stated bluntly.
“Perfect. I’ll mark you,” Gu Yi nodded. While ordinary Omegas couldn’t mark Alphas, elite Omegas possessed this special privilege.
Though the mark would be temporary, it would prevent the Alpha from marking anyone else for a short period.
This was essentially a cheat skill granted by noble lineage.
“Is that so? But then I wouldn’t be able to have children?” Song Feiyu pointed out.
Alphas weren’t Omegas; they lacked reproductive organs.
Song Feiyu gazed at the other woman’s pale, almost translucent skin, and the truth wasn’t hard to guess.
Someone like her must be of noble birth.
How could she possibly not demand an heir? This was something Song Feiyu couldn’t provide.
“It’s fine. I don’t mind,” Gu Yi said. “I never planned on having children anyway.”
Seeing Gu Yi’s insistence, Song Feiyu could only nod. She extended her hand.
“Then let’s try.”
Gu Yi took her hand. Song Feiyu’s palm was rough, her fingers long and slender, with prominent knuckles.
Gu Yi gripped her hand tightly.
At first, Song Feiyu didn’t understand the other woman’s intent. But when she saw the fiery glint in Gu Yi’s eyes, she felt like she was about to be devoured whole.
“What’s wrong?” Song Feiyu asked softly.
“I know this is sudden, but I’m in my heat right now,” Gu Yi blurted out.
“Then I’ll go get you some suppressants,” Song Feiyu said, rising to her feet. As someone whose glands had been destroyed, she rarely experienced heats anymore and had no need for suppressants.
“Ahem.”
Gu Yi was speechless. Did this woman really not understand what she meant?
Just like before, she was still such a clueless idiot.
