The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 23
The Executive Officer’s reminder made Song Feiyu feel a little embarrassed, but she couldn’t directly reveal her girlfriend’s current identity. She could only offer an awkward smile.
“I’ll be careful. Thank you.”
Leaving the conference room, Song Feiyu’s light brown leather combat boots moved swiftly down the corridor. Her footsteps were rapid but steady, carrying a sense of urgency, like a soldier returning home after a successful mission, eager to see his beloved wife.
But when she opened the door, the room was as tidy as she’d left it, and the person she longed to see was nowhere to be found.
“Gu Yi?” Song Feiyu called out anxiously. Didn’t I tell her to wait? Why is she gone?
Just as she was about to search the other rooms, a warm body pressed against her from behind. Gu Yi covered Song Feiyu’s eyes, a suppressed laugh tugging at her lips. She’d been waiting like a hunter lying in wait for hours, and finally, the plump rabbit had fallen into her trap.
“Stop messing around,” Song Feiyu said, trying to pry Gu Yi’s fingers away from her eyes, desperate to escape the darkness.
“You went to a meeting and came back so soon?” Gu Yi’s voice was soft and sweet, carrying the contented purr of a well-fed cat.
“Were you thinking about me?”
Though her tone dripped with pride and self-satisfaction, she was actually half-right.
“Did you just leave a lipstick mark on my neck?”
Song Feiyu evaded the question. That was just her way. If someone failed to guess her intentions, she would laugh softly, almost mockingly. But if they hit the mark, she would subtly shift her gaze, a hint of embarrassment flickering across her face.
Like now.
“Yes, and it looks good, doesn’t it?”
“Empire regulations require all pets to wear identification tags. Isn’t it perfectly normal for me to give you one made of lipstick?”
Gu Yi’s voice lifted slightly, as if saying, See? You should thank me.
“It does look good, but what if someone sees it?”
Song Feiyu turned to find the Captain’s Quarters door still open and quickly shut it.
Isolating their pheromones within the small space, she leaned closer, pressing her forehead against Gu Yi’s.
“Guess what they’re saying outside? That I have a lover behind your back.”
Song Feiyu’s nose brushed lightly against Gu Yi’s pale, slender neck, feeling herself drowning in the intoxicating jasmine scent.
“Mm-hmm,” Gu Yi nodded, her response perfunctory.
“I’m your lover now, Captain. My enlistment name is Ryan Kerlo.”
“Just call me Ryan.”
Gu Yi lowered her head, unable to resist reaching out to pinch Song Feiyu’s cheek.
Seeing that usually untouchable face pulled slightly upward, revealing a comical expression, she found it particularly amusing.
“Ryan, such a lovely name. It’s a pity Kerlo is a commoner’s surname…”
“It doesn’t suit your aristocratic looks.”
“My dear wild rose.”
Song Feiyu slipped into character effortlessly, playing the part of a woman who, despite having a fiancée, was still scheming and clinging to Gu Yi.
Song Feiyu lowered her head, letting their hair intertwine as she kissed those soft lips, tracing their contours slowly, meticulously.
After a long moment, Song Feiyu finally broke away.
Seeing Gu Yi’s slightly flushed cheeks, she couldn’t resist pecking them again.
“Why are you acting so flustered?”
This wasn’t like Gu Yi at all.
“Meeting the Captain is bound to make me nervous,” Gu Yi replied with a smile, clearly still in character.
Song Feiyu nodded.
“Darling, after we return, Miss Gu’s father will likely tear me to pieces. You should cherish these moments.”
Gu Yi: ……
“Can you not mention that?”
“With me here, I won’t let anyone harm you.”
As expected, the mere mention of her father shattered Gu Yi’s facade in an instant, reverting her to her true persona.
“I know. I trust you.”
“But for now, I still have to deal with the Interstellar Pirates and the Zerg, so I might be coming home late these next few days.”
Song Feiyu seized the opportunity to explain what had happened earlier.
“Why are there Zerg here?” Gu Yi asked, puzzled. After all, this was within the Empire’s Interstellar Space, and the Zerg rarely dared to venture into human-controlled territory.
“I heard the Zerg Queen has been absorbing smaller Zerg tribes these past few years. Perhaps her power has grown, and they’re testing the Empire’s borders again.”
Though Song Feiyu primarily worked in the training department, she still had friends who knew some inside information.
“Their audacity is growing. That’s not a good sign,” Gu Yi nodded.
“I understand. But you need to be careful.”
“And…” Gu Yi’s voice trailed off, her fingertip lightly tracing the lipstick mark on Song Feiyu’s neck.
“What do you want?” Song Feiyu asked, her gaze unwavering. Her expression suggested she would give Gu Yi anything, even her life.
“Transfer me to your side,” Gu Yi replied. “Any position will do, preferably as your assistant or secretary…”
Gu Yi made her request, determined to avoid returning to the cramped eight-person dormitory where sitting up would have her head bumping against the upper bunk.
“That’s no problem at all,” Song Feiyu agreed readily.
She immediately went to her study to address the crises posed by the Zerg and Interstellar Pirates.
She convened a holographic conference with the captains of several auxiliary fleets, outlining the current situation.
“Fight! Why wouldn’t we fight?” one hot-tempered captain roared. “Are we afraid of the Zerg?”
Despite his fiery temperament, the captains held Song Feiyu in high regard. Facing half the Zerg’s forces, she had remained unflappable, sacrificing her entire fleet to protect Alber Star’s defensive perimeter. Her strategic brilliance and leadership were undeniable.
“Come on, buddy, think before you act,” another captain, a bespectacled and refined man, countered. “We know the Zerg have new mechs. It could be a massive force. Their memories are interconnected—how can we outpace their information network?”
Song Feiyu nodded in agreement.
“You’re right. We’re here to wipe out the Interstellar Pirates, and we didn’t bring much advanced equipment. A direct confrontation would likely put us at a disadvantage.”
The meeting grew heated, but after hours of debate, no consensus emerged.
Song Feiyu reluctantly called a recess. Letting them argue endlessly would achieve nothing; it would be better to question each member individually later.
With that thought, Song Feiyu shut down her terminal and rubbed her temples wearily.
The door to her study slid open from the outside. Gu Yi entered, dressed in a civilian uniform—a crisp white blouse with her long hair neatly tucked behind her ears, cascading over her shoulders.
“Captain, your tea.”
Gu Yi carried over a cup of clear tea.
Song Feiyu glanced up at her pristine uniform, the creases still visible. She couldn’t resist reaching out to gently smooth them.
“Why did you take up your post so quickly?”
Gu Yi merely nodded slightly, observing Song Feiyu’s troubled expression.
“If I didn’t come, who would bring you tea?”
“They’re all afraid of my father and wouldn’t dare get too close to you, would they?”
Otherwise, why would Song Feiyu have grabbed her at the door to deliver ointment?
She probably had no one else she could trust.
