The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 3
Hearing Gu Yi cough, Song Feiyu turned her head in confusion. Her glass-like eyes held a hint of concern.
“What’s wrong? Is the cough a symptom of your Heat?”
Heat wasn’t just Heat; some Alphas experienced additional symptoms like fever and coughing.
“I’ll get you the cough medicine.”
Song Feiyu remained earnest, about to stand up and leave.
Gu Yi, desperate, reached out and grabbed her wrist.
“What I mean is… let me mark you.”
Song Feiyu: What?! This is outrageous!
She had agreed to try dating Gu Yi, but she certainly hadn’t agreed to be marked on their first day. She wasn’t that kind of woman.
She immediately eyed Gu Yi warily.
“I never said I was going to marry you right now.”
When Song Feiyu grew serious, an inexplicable pressure seemed to emanate from her. Yet her sheep-like face, when she looked at people, lacked any real intimidating presence.
“You won’t get pregnant, Instructor Song,” Gu Yi said, enunciating each word deliberately. “You’re an Alpha, after all.”
“That has nothing to do with whether I’m an Alpha. This is a matter of principle. You’re being far too casual…” Song Feiyu frowned, visibly angry.
Gu Yi paused for a moment, then burst out laughing. “If that’s the case, why did you agree to this arranged meeting with me?”
Song Feiyu’s face flushed crimson. How could she explain? Her body was in a precarious state, neither fully functional nor completely broken. She needed someone to help her through the unbearable heat cycles, because with her glands damaged, suppressing her pheromones with inhibitors was no longer an option. Yet her pheromone function wasn’t entirely destroyed either, creating an extremely awkward situation.
“You want this too, don’t you?” Gu Yi leaned in close, almost able to smell the faint scent leaking from Song Feiyu’s neck.
In the dimly lit inn, sunlight streamed through the narrow window, illuminating fine dust particles floating in the air.
Song Feiyu desperately wanted to choose a better inn, but this was the closest one to the café. Gu Yi’s condition was deteriorating rapidly, leaving them with no better options.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Song Feiyu took a deep breath.
Normally, Alphas cannot mark each other, and their pheromones would repel each other. However, if one Alpha’s gland marked the other, it could alleviate some of the physical strain. This was a common practice on battlefields where Omegas were scarce.
Song Feiyu tore open the gland patch. Her gland had been damaged, leaving a jagged, unsightly scar.
“Hurry up,” she said, pressing her hand against her gland.
Gu Yi approached, gently pushing Song Feiyu’s fingers aside to examine the vicious scar on the back of her neck. She touched it with a pang of sympathy.
“How did you get this?” Gu Yi asked, though she already knew the answer. The depths of her eyes concealed her true intentions, making them difficult to discern.
“Blown up, what else?” Song Feiyu replied casually, closing her eyes as she recalled the memory. The only sound that echoed in her mind was the roar of laser cannons exploding.
“It was too long ago. I can’t remember clearly.”
Gu Yi leaned closer, her warm breath brushing against Song Feiyu’s neck.
Then, a sharp pain pierced her throat.
The anticipated pheromone rejection wasn’t as intense as Song Feiyu had expected. She opened her eyes in surprise.
She had never marked anyone, nor had she ever been marked herself.
She didn’t know what it felt like.
But the violent pheromone rejection she had imagined never materialized. Perhaps her own pheromones had grown too weak to even mount a basic defense.
Song Feiyu didn’t know whether to feel dejected or relieved. But the situation had reached this point, and there was no turning back.
The delicate scent of jasmine filled the room, as if every vein in Song Feiyu’s body had been infused with the flower’s essence.
Her fingers gripped the edge of the bed tightly. It took her a long moment to open her eyes, the corners already reddened.
“Why isn’t your pheromone aggressive?” she asked, puzzled. Alpha pheromones were typically far from sweet and cloying; they were intensely aggressive and stimulating, never this gentle.
“Because I’m special,” Gu Yi replied smoothly, resting her chin on Song Feiyu’s shoulder and feeling the slight curl of her long hair.
Gu Yi smiled as she gazed at the teeth marks on Song Feiyu’s damaged gland.
“Is it because other Omegas look down on you for lacking an Alpha’s dominance?” Song Feiyu ventured. Gu Yi nodded in agreement.
“We’re both flawed, so we’re a match made in heaven, right?”
Song Feiyu pressed her lips together. She wasn’t someone who needed to settle down with just anyone; she simply didn’t want her mother to worry.
Ignoring Gu Yi’s remark, Song Feiyu turned to face her directly, met her gaze, and suddenly leaned in close.
“Feeling better now?”
Gu Yi froze for a moment, caught off guard by the sudden counterattack, then nodded. She flicked her tongue out, licking her lips with lingering satisfaction.
“Mm, that should suppress it for now.”
Though she said this aloud, Gu Yi’s thoughts were far from sincere. As if! she thought. An Omega having a Heat? That’s just a convenient lie.
“That’s good…” Song Feiyu sighed, her tense expression relaxing. She reached out, her slender fingers tracing soothing circles across Gu Yi’s back, as if offering comfort.
“Gu Yi, if you ever feel unwell again, just call me. I’ll come whenever you need me.”
Having decided to give this relationship a try, Song Feiyu was determined to show her commitment. She didn’t care whether Gu Yi was an Alpha or an Omega. All she wanted was for them to get along well. After all, this was a girlfriend she’d finally found through a matchmaking event—if she let this chance slip away, she might never get another one in her lifetime.
After all, only a minority were willing to accept a useless Alpha.
“You’re being so obedient?” Gu Yi asked, surprised. She had expected Song Feiyu, given her past temperament, to ignore her for at least a few days.
“This isn’t about obedience. I’m in my heat cycle,” Song Feiyu replied truthfully.
Gu Yi blinked, understanding her meaning. She pointed at herself. “I marked you just now, Song Feiyu. Shouldn’t I be the one showing off?”
Seeing Gu Yi’s narrowed eyes, Song Feiyu knew her competitive spirit was flaring. She lowered her head.
“I checked your profile, Gu Yi. You’re younger than me, right?”
“Then what should you call me?” Gu Yi’s gaze drifted away, reluctant to admit it but unable to deny the truth. She was indeed a year or two younger. Gu Yi felt as if her mouth had been sewn shut, unable to utter a word.
“Sis… Sister.”
She called out tentatively, then immediately regretted it, wishing she could bite off her own tongue.
This is fucking embarrassing.
Song Feiyu nodded, her eyes narrowed slightly. For the first time, she noticed that Gu Yi, who was usually so stern and aloof at the base, could actually blush and look so mortified she wanted to crawl under the floor.
“That’s right. It’s no big deal that I let you have your way.”
“But…”
Song Feiyu’s fingers brushed against the gland at the back of Gu Yi’s neck, her gaze dangerous.
“So, having an Alpha mark your gland feels this good? It’s completely different from what the books say.”
Song Feiyu leaned closer, her nose almost touching Gu Yi’s.
“I may not be able to mark you, but I can still inject pheromones. Want to try it? You’re in Heat, after all. It might make you feel better.”
Song Feiyu meant well, but she had no idea Gu Yi was actually an Alpha.
