The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 31
Though the soup didn’t look particularly appetizing, it was surprisingly comforting to drink. Gu Yi, who rarely finished even the most exquisite dishes at the Gu Family mansion, found herself emptying the entire bowl.
“Slow down,” Song Feiyu said with a gentle smile, wrapping her arm around Gu Yi and feeding her slowly, spoonful by spoonful.
The planet was bathed in the golden light of its setting sun, which hung neither too close nor too far in the sky. As the temperature began to cool, Song Feiyu pieced together several metal plates to create a makeshift shelter and carried Gu Yi inside.
Like a child scavenging for scraps, Song Feiyu carefully moved their belongings outside, one item at a time. Beneath her robes, the bandages were already soaked with bl00d, but she concealed them from Gu Yi’s view.
As night fell, a fierce wind howled against the battered metal plates, creating a cacophony of clanging and rattling.
Gu Yi stared up at the roof with wide eyes. “Will it collapse?”
To be honest, as a pampered young lady, the worst living conditions she had ever experienced were during her time on the Flying Ship, when she had to share an eight-person dormitory.
“It should hold,” Song Feiyu said, though she immediately went outside to reinforce the structure. After tinkering for a while, she secured the metal plates and crawled back inside.
“Are you okay now?” Song Feiyu asked Gu Yi softly, her face smudged with dirt.
“Your face is dirty,” Gu Yi said, reaching out. But her injured shoulder wouldn’t straighten, and the movement sent a sharp pain through her. She frowned.
Song Feiyu leaned closer, letting Gu Yi wipe her face clean.
“It’s nothing, just some dust. Metal blasted by artillery always gets covered in ash.”
Gu Yi sighed. She hadn’t imagined she’d end up like this—unable to move and relying on Song Feiyu, who was injured herself, to take care of her.
“Don’t sigh,” Song Feiyu said, hugging Gu Yi tightly. “I found the signal flares. Once the rescue team gets closer, we can fire them, and they’ll see us.”
The wind howled louder, and the temperature plummeted. Song Feiyu took off her jacket and draped it over both of them, holding Gu Yi even tighter.
Feeling Gu Yi’s body gradually grow colder, Song Feiyu’s heart inexplicably panicked.
In this desolate desert, there was nothing to keep them warm. Even the scraps of wood she’d used to cook earlier had been salvaged from broken chairs.
All she could do was hold Gu Yi tighter and tighter.
“Gu Yi, please don’t fall asleep,” Song Feiyu pleaded, her voice trembling. She feared that if Gu Yi closed her eyes, she might never wake up again.
“I’m so sleepy…”
Gu Yi turned her head and pressed her forehead against Song Feiyu’s neck, her voice slowing considerably.
“Song Feiyu, let me sleep for a while.”
“Don’t sleep. I’ll sing for you.”
Song Feiyu wanted to pinch Gu Yi awake, but she worried about worsening her injuries. Reluctantly, she abandoned the idea and tried a different approach to coax her. It worked—Gu Yi lifted her head to look at her.
“Sing,” Gu Yi said, her eyes shining.
“Ahem…” Song Feiyu cleared her throat, gently patted Gu Yi’s shoulder, and began to sing softly:
“Horse, horse, run slowly,
You can’t eat all the grass on the prairie…”
Song Feiyu sang in tune, her voice soft as the lingering warmth of late summer, carrying a hint of coolness and comfort. The lyrics contained a regional dialect, and Gu Yi had to listen intently to understand them. But her focused attention completely banished her drowsiness.
“Where is this song from?” Gu Yi asked curiously after Song Feiyu finished. She had never heard it before.
“My mother used to sing it to me,” Song Feiyu explained with a smile. “On my home planet, everyone knows this song.”
Seeing that Gu Yi was now fully awake and practically clinging to her, Song Feiyu felt a tightness in her chest and found it hard to breathe.
Gu Yi patted Song Feiyu’s hip.
“My wound is throbbing a bit.”
Gu Yi immediately moved aside.
“Did your wound reopen too?” she asked, her voice laced with concern. This situation was truly adding insult to injury.
“No, it’s just a bit sore from your weight,” Song Feiyu replied. As she spoke, her eyes lit up as if she’d remembered something. “Gu Yi, I remember Alpha pheromones have pain-relieving properties.”
Gu Yi stared at Song Feiyu, shifting slightly to avoid pressing down on her. “That’s true, but if we do that, we’ll both trigger Heat.”
The idea of engaging in a mating ritual just to alleviate pain felt increasingly absurd.
“It doesn’t have to be pheromones,” Song Feiyu whispered, leaning close to Gu Yi’s ear. “Saliva works too.”
Gu Yi lowered her gaze, her eyes flickering thoughtfully before she finally spoke.
Just as Song Feiyu leaned in, convinced Gu Yi was about to agree, Gu Yi pulled back slightly.
“No way. That’s kind of gross.”
Song Feiyu: ……
Though both women were covered in bloodstains, failing to manage the pain would only worsen their situation.
“Be good.”
She reached out and gently stroked the back of Song Feiyu’s head, as if soothing a disobedient cat. Her fingers combed through the strands of hair, like grooming fur.
In Gu Yi’s imagination, their intimate moments would unfold in a luxurious suite, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the dazzling city lights. She would sip a glass of red wine, slightly tipsy, and lean in to kiss the corner of Song Feiyu’s lips.
Not this: a desolate landscape of yellow sand, where howling winds battered their makeshift shelter of corrugated iron.
Reality rarely matched the richness of fantasy. No matter how vivid and elaborate the dream, the outcome was often stark and disappointing.
Gu Yi knew further resistance was futile. She closed her eyes.
“Hurry up.”
“There’s no rushing something like this,” Song Feiyu said with a smile, steadying Gu Yi by the waist as she slowly sat up. Then she leaned in for a gentle kiss.
The faint scent of lavender mingled with the rich fragrance of jasmine, their aromas intertwining, blurring the boundaries between them.
“Mmm…”
Gu Yi felt as if the air were being sucked from her lungs. She raised a hand to tap Song Feiyu’s shoulder, but fearing she might hurt her, she held back her strength.
Song Feiyu waited a moment before pulling away.
Ignoring the mark at the corner of her mouth, she immediately asked with concern, “How are you feeling? Has the pain in your wound eased a bit?”
Gu Yi nodded. “It’s definitely less painful now.”
Only then did Song Feiyu embrace her. “I estimate it will take the rescue team several days to find us. We’ll need to continue this for the next few days. It will help with your recovery and pain relief.”
Gu Yi couldn’t tell if Song Feiyu was genuinely trying to take advantage of her. But even if she was, it wouldn’t really matter.
Still, she disliked feeling so passive. Gu Yi reached out and gently lifted Song Feiyu’s chin with her finger. “Song Feiyu, does this mean you’ve ruled out my Heat?”
I literally just warned you about it.
Song Feiyu shook her head. “Gu Yi, just bear with it for a few days.”
“I remember you have artificial pheromones on your necklace.”
Hearing this, Gu Yi retrieved the artificial pheromone vial hanging around her neck. The purple glass bottle contained only a small amount—just enough for emergencies.
“Inject me with it,” Gu Yi said, tearing off the necklace and handing it to Song Feiyu.
