The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 32
Song Feiyu gazed at Gu Yi’s pale, delicate neck, her hand gripping the deep purple glass vial of artificial pheromones. She felt a surge of nervousness.
Taking a deep breath, she peeled off the thin adhesive strip.
Song Feiyu gently pressed her thumb against the back of Gu Yi’s neck, as if trying to locate a vein before an injection. She inhaled deeply again.
“It’s not like you’re the one getting the shot. Why are you so tense?” Gu Yi teased, unable to suppress a smile as she felt Song Feiyu’s warm breath against her skin.
“This is your gland. I have to be careful,” Song Feiyu replied softly, her voice gentle but strained as she fought to steady her trembling hands. Despite her efforts, her fingers continued to shake violently.
She paused, waiting for her nerves to settle. Then, pursing her lips, she injected the lavender-scented pheromones into the back of Gu Yi’s neck.
“Mmm…” Gu Yi hummed softly. Song Feiyu knew she couldn’t stop now, not halfway through. She asked anxiously, “Am I pressing too hard?”
“It’s not your fault. It’s just an Omega’s body reacting,” Gu Yi replied, glancing at Song Feiyu before turning her head away.
Gu Yi felt a surge of relief that the dim light concealed the blush creeping across her cheeks. Otherwise, she would have been utterly mortified.
Both women were exhausted from the day’s ordeal and their injuries. After receiving the Artificial Pheromone injection, Gu Yi drifted into a deep sleep.
The morning sun’s harsh rays pierced through her eyelids, waking her. She squinted, her curled lashes shielding her eyes from the glare.
Gazing at the golden star hanging over the distant desert, she felt utterly alone, as if stranded in a vast, desolate wilderness.
Gu Yi had traveled extensively through the cosmos as a child, visiting countless such places. But this was the first time she’d found herself in this state—unwashed, her body still carrying the faint metallic tang of bl00d.
The discomfort was overwhelming.
Yet, the moment she caught a whiff of that faint lavender scent, a sense of ease washed over her.
“Horsie, horsie, slow your gallop…”
She hummed softly, mimicking Song Feiyu’s melody from the night before.
A smile tugged at her lips. In all her years, no one had ever sung her a nursery rhyme.
Her mother had passed away shortly after her birth, leaving Gu Yi with only fleeting memories of maternal affection.
Her father, on the other hand, always wore a stern expression. Though he treated her well, he insisted Gu Yi learn things she had no interest in—things that would turn her into a mere decorative object.
Gu Yi rebelled, stubbornly enlisting in the Fleet. At the time, not only did the noble Omega ladies she used to play with mock her, but the commoner Alphas in the Fleet also looked down on her, seeing her as a clumsy, useless noble who knew nothing.
Except for Song Feiyu. Despite holding the prestigious rank of Honorary Captain, Song Feiyu showed remarkable patience with newcomers. Whenever she had free time, she would patrol the area, teaching any rookies she found struggling.
Just as Gu Yi was thinking this, Song Feiyu returned carrying a large bundle of firewood. Her slender frame blocked most of the sunlight, casting a shadow over the shelter’s entrance.
“I found firewood,” Song Feiyu said with a smile. “We can have a campfire tonight.”
Dried yellow leaves clung to her long, curly hair. Though vegetation was scarce in the desert, hardy plants like camel thorn managed to survive.
Song Feiyu had walked a long way early that morning—about five or six kilometers—to find these supplies.
But what truly delighted her was discovering a desert oasis.
The water inside was as clear as seawater. Though they were on different planets, all Empire soldiers’ terminals were equipped with detection devices.
A quick test could determine whether the water was toxic or safe for consumption by Empire citizens.
Song Feiyu had just tested it and found no issues.
Finally, they could wash off the stench.
Today, Song Feiyu reinforced the shelter again and went out to scavenge for more supplies.
Gu Yi’s shoulder remained immobile. After examining it this morning, Song Feiyu suspected a dislocation or fracture. She had found a metal plate and crudely strapped it to Gu Yi’s shoulder to prevent further displacement.
Despite the makeshift splint, Gu Yi managed to stand up.
“What are you doing standing? Sit down and rest,” Song Feiyu said, pressing her down.
“I want to help you.”
Gu Yi hated feeling helpless more than anything. Song Feiyu glanced at her.
She poked Gu Yi’s cheek with her fingertip.
“Right now, the best way you can help me is to focus on healing.”
Gu Yi frowned, clearly disagreeing.
“But I hate seeing you so busy, and I can’t do anything…”
Song Feiyu looked at her, remembering the image of Gu Yi piloting her black Mecha to rescue her. Knowing Gu Yi had no desire to be a clinging vine, she nodded.
“Then you can help me search for supplies.”
With that, Song Feiyu playfully swiped her index finger across Gu Yi’s nose, like an elder sister coaxing a sulky child.
Finally, worn down by Gu Yi’s persistence, she agreed to take her to the supermarket for supplies.
The wreckage of the Flying Ship was vast, and they frequently stumbled upon the corpses of Imperial soldiers. Too exhausted to dig graves, Song Feiyu could only drag the bodies to a designated area.
When rescue arrived, they could be returned to their homeland.
Song Feiyu salvaged numerous items, while Gu Yi found a long piece of metal and fashioned it into a makeshift crutch, helping with the search.
“These are bedsheets, and this is a pillow!”
Song Feiyu discovered a storage room specifically for bedsheets and bedding. However, most of the items were damaged to some extent, with cotton and feathers spilling from the pillows.
“What’s the point of these?” Gu Yi asked, puzzled.
She had been searching primarily for weapons. They were stranded on an unfamiliar planet, and they didn’t know if there were any indigenous inhabitants.
If the locals had a taste for Imperials like in those space movies, they’d be in serious trouble.
Song Feiyu gathered the cotton and feathers, carrying a massive pile herself, looking like an angel who had accidentally plunged into a cloud.
“You complained about the floor being too hard to sleep on. This should make it more comfortable.”
Song Feiyu found a blasted-off metal plate, wrapped the cotton and feathers in the bedding, and dragged it back to the shelter.
Gu Yi watched as she first laid down a layer of cotton, then spread the feathers on top, and finally covered it all with a bedsheet.
“There, now we won’t have to worry about getting too cold tonight,” Song Feiyu said, smiling at Gu Yi.
“It looks like a bird’s nest,” Gu Yi observed after a long pause.
“I once saw a space documentary about forest-dwelling birds that build these huge, elaborate nests to attract females.”
Gu Yi gazed at the cotton- and feather-lined nest inside the shelter, imagining a beautiful bird spreading its wings and circling its home.
“You remind me of it,” she said, chuckling at her own thought.
Seeing her amusement, Song Feiyu playfully extended her hand.
“Really? Then perhaps Miss Gu should consider me?”
Gu Yi turned to look at the patched-up shelter and the cotton-stuffed nest inside.
“This was built especially for you, Miss Gu.”
“I’ll consider it… reluctantly,” Gu Yi replied, reaching out to take Song Feiyu’s hand.
Isn’t this just finding joy in the midst of hardship?
