The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 34
Gu Yi sat by the lake, its pale blue waters icy cold. Song Feiyu held her ankle, meticulously wiping away the bloodstains with a torn piece of cloth.
“Are you cold?” Song Feiyu asked, noticing Gu Yi shivering.
In her lifetime, Song Feiyu had endured far worse. The Alber Star Defense Battle, in particular, had been a descent into a mountain of corpses and a sea of bl00d.
Having experienced far grimmer conditions, Song Feiyu’s heart remained calm. But Gu Yi was different. As a sheltered young lady, she had never faced such hardships.
“A little,” Gu Yi murmured, pressing her lips together to suppress the chill. “But it’s bearable compared to the stench.”
Song Feiyu nodded and continued wiping. After cleaning Gu Yi’s leg, she rinsed the bloodstained cloth in the lake, watching as the crimson stains faded under the churning water.
She then wiped Gu Yi’s face, paying special attention to the area behind her ears, leaving no detail overlooked.
However, as she moved lower, the situation grew awkward.
Song Feiyu noticed Gu Yi’s ears turning red. Knowing the young lady was embarrassed—after all, they were in the wilderness, where the wind blew icy cold—she closed her eyes.
“I won’t look…” she said with a gentle smile, trying to reassure Gu Yi.
Gu Yi remained silent.
Gu Yi’s chest was now stained with bl00d that had trickled down from her shoulder. If Song Feiyu saw her like this, it would be incredibly awkward.
Leaving a bad impression would be disastrous.
She nodded, and Song Feiyu promptly closed her eyes. Gu Yi’s fingers groped blindly, her lake-soaked hands icy cold. Gu Yi felt as if she were sleeping on a snow-capped mountain, the chill raising goosebumps all over her body.
After wiping Gu Yi clean, Song Feiyu stared at the bl00d-soaked towel, surprised.
“You’ve lost so much bl00d. Is there a wound near your heart?”
The heart was a vital area; even a hidden injury could lead to serious complications. That’s why Song Feiyu was so concerned.
“No, it’s just bl00d from my shoulder,” Gu Yi explained, and Song Feiyu finally exhaled in relief.
Song Feiyu’s fingers remained strictly professional, never venturing into inappropriate territory. Even when she reached more sensitive areas, she would close her eyes obediently, though this made the process slower.
Gu Yi felt like she was enduring torture, but she couldn’t bring herself to ask Song Feiyu to open her eyes. Even with all her confidence in her body, she couldn’t bear the thought of being seen covered in bl00d.
Finally, after the ordeal was over, Song Feiyu removed the metal brace from Gu Yi’s shoulder, helped her change into fresh clothes, and carefully re-secured the brace.
“Just wait another two or three days until the flesh on your wound has healed, and then you can bathe,” Song Feiyu explained softly.
It was the first time she had ever seen Gu Yi so shy, her ears, cheeks, and neck flushed crimson.
After speaking, Song Feiyu set down the towel and began unbuttoning her coat.
“What are you doing?” Gu Yi asked, shocked.
Song Feiyu neatly folded her coat and placed it on a rock beside Gu Yi.
“Washing myself,” she replied. “Otherwise, you’ll be clean while I’m still stinky. You won’t be able to sleep with the smell.”
With that, Song Feiyu stepped into the lake. Her slightly wavy long hair became soaked, resembling seaweed swaying in the ocean currents, its edges curling and undulating with the water.
“I didn’t wash my hair,” Gu Yi grumbled, slightly dissatisfied. Song Feiyu dove underwater and swam to her side. When she resurfaced, every strand of her hair was drenched.
Song Feiyu retrieved the soap she had found and quickly washed her hair.
“Wait until your wound heals to wash your hair,” she said. “You’re still weak, and catching a cold would only make things worse.”
It wasn’t that Song Feiyu didn’t want Gu Yi to get clean; Gu Yi understood her concerns. Resigned, she watched Song Feiyu wash her hair in the lake, her own disheveled strands hanging loose.
Nearby, Song Feiyu dug a small pit and lined it with cotton cloth to filter the water. This would provide cleaner water for drinking tomorrow.
They didn’t have to worry about drinking each other’s bathwater.
Fortunately, Song Feiyu had meticulously cared for her hair every day before the incident. Even after a day or two, it wouldn’t become smelly or greasy.
It was just a bit dry and fluffy, like wild grass growing freely on a wasteland.
“Song Feiyu…” Gu Yi called out. The woman who had just washed her hair looked up and obediently swam over.
“What is it?”
Gu Yi lowered her gaze. Water droplets clung to Song Feiyu’s thick eyebrows, and her eyes were deep black, like jewels fallen into a deep pool.
“You’re so beautiful, like a lotus rising from the water,” Gu Yi murmured, cupping Song Feiyu’s face and lowering her head to brush her lips lightly, like a dragonfly skimming the surface of a pond.
Song Feiyu chuckled softly. Miss Gu still adored her, rushing over as soon as she was clean.
But she didn’t resist, letting Gu Yi draw closer.
“Gu Yi…”
In the brief moment they parted, Song Feiyu tilted her head back, gazing into Gu Yi’s eyes.
“I’ve always wanted to ask… why do you love me so much?”
“I suspect you recognized me long ago, but I can’t remember you at all.”
This was something that had always troubled Song Feiyu, making her feel heartless.
“Because I am Gu Xueze, serial number 0728.”
When Gu Yi revealed the truth, Song Feiyu had shown Gu Xueze kindness the moment she stepped out of the hovercar.
Gu Yi resented that.
She disliked her elder sister because Gu Xueze always blamed everything on their mother.
But the truth was that Gu Yi’s mother was merely from a wealthy family, not a Noble, and had no real choice.
When Gu Xuanyu declared his love for her, she had no option but to accept it.
Otherwise, her entire family would have suffered dire consequences.
Everyone desires a love that can bask in the sunlight. Gu Xueze’s mother, unable to defend her own, turned her blade against the weaker party.
Many times, Gu Yi wanted to grab her sister by the collar and demand:
“You call my mother an interloper, but did she have any choice? Wasn’t she just like you, fighting desperately only to be forced to submit in the end?”
But people only see what they want to see, and Gu Yi was no different.
She couldn’t ignore her father’s kindness, yet she loathed him with all her being.
This contradiction had twisted her personality into its current conflicted state.
Despite being showered with affection, Gu Yi couldn’t bear to stay in the Gu Family for even a day.
It wasn’t until she met Song Feiyu that Gu Yi truly understood what genuine patience, respect, and love meant.
It wasn’t a shackle, nor was it a responsibility.
It was simply a flutter of the heart.
“How could it be you?” Song Feiyu paused, then realization dawned. “You were wearing a skin mask back then, weren’t you? No wonder you never seemed to smile. I thought you had facial paralysis.”
The facial paralysis Song Feiyu referred to was the genuine kind, caused by nerve damage.
“Exactly. You just figured that out?”
“It’s been so long, I can’t remember clearly.” Song Feiyu looked slightly apologetic. She tilted her head, her cool lips brushing against Gu Yi’s soft earlobe.
“After the Alber Star Defense Battle, when I was rescued, my brain suffered severe trauma. I forgot many things then, and they only gradually came back to me later.”
“If your sister hadn’t been so beautiful, I probably wouldn’t have remembered at all.” She reached out and tapped Gu Yi’s nose with a fond smile.
“Besides, your voice was as soft as a mosquito’s back then. It made it even harder to recall.”
