The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 39
The Second Prince, having already established his own household, resided outside the imperial palace. His estate was grand and imposing, with towering marble walls that resembled a snow-capped mountain fortress from afar.
Tourists often stopped to take photos at the entrance, but the Second Prince didn’t mind; on the contrary, it helped him cultivate popular support.
Gu Yi and Song Feiyu barely left their vehicle as they drove deep into the estate.
A grand ball was being held that evening, drawing a large crowd. Rumor had it that even the Crown Princess would attend. Gu Yi wasn’t surprised; no matter how fiercely the Second Prince and the Crown Princess clashed in private, they always maintained a facade of sibling affection before the Emperor.
Song Feiyu wore an exquisite noble’s gown—truthfully, she had never worn anything so fine before. Gu Yi had prepared a complete set of noble attire for her, but had forgotten to include gloves. Song Feiyu found this odd but didn’t press the matter, dismissing it as a minor detail that would likely be provided later.
Clutching a lavender-scented artificial pheromone in her hand, Gu Yi took a deep breath and turned to look at Song Feiyu.
“Song Feiyu,” she called softly.
Song Feiyu immediately turned her head. “What is it?” she asked, her tone remarkably gentle.
“Help me,” Gu Yi said, handing Song Feiyu the purple glass vial. She turned sideways, her slender, jade-white fingers smoothing her soft hair upward, revealing her long, graceful neck.
Song Feiyu immediately understood. Ballrooms, with their chaotic mix of people, were breeding grounds for accidents. The nobles had lost count of how many times Omegas had been forcibly marked at such events, each incident plastered across the tabloids, a true disgrace.
Leaning closer, Song Feiyu peeled back the adhesive patch covering Gu Yi’s scent gland, then took hold of the purple vial. She had done this countless times before. Compared to her trembling hands the first time she held the artificial pheromone, her fingers were now steady, and she knew exactly where to inject to minimize Gu Yi’s discomfort.
In moments, Song Feiyu completed the injection. She gently pressed her thumb against the gland to ease the pain before reapplying the adhesive patch.
“All done,” she said.
From start to finish, Song Feiyu moved with swift, delicate precision, barely allowing a wisp of jasmine scent or lavender aroma to escape. Even the chauffeur remained unaffected.
After exiting the car, they walked directly into the mansion’s grand hall, already bustling with guests.
Gu Yi recognized most of the guests, having visited them frequently with her father in the past.
Song Feiyu also recognized some faces, though she had only seen them on television. Meeting them in person for the first time left her somewhat awestruck.
“Song Yin, you’ve finally arrived!”
A blond man approached, his golden hair soft and slightly tousled, meticulously styled into a short, refined cut. He wore a white suit adorned with an emerald brooch that sparkled brilliantly under the crystal chandeliers.
“Your Highness,” Song Feiyu greeted politely. Only then did the Second Prince turn his attention to Gu Yi.
“Gu Yi, how is your recovery progressing?”
Gu Yi simply nodded.
“Excellent. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to attend your own ball.”
Neither used honorifics; the Second Prince addressed her by name, and she addressed him by name. Their familiarity was evident, suggesting a close acquaintance.
Song Feiyu glanced between them, puzzled, before realizing she couldn’t ask questions at that moment. She waited until the Second Prince moved to greet others before turning to Gu Yi.
“Do you two know each other?”
Gu Yi glanced at Song Feiyu and nodded.
“We attended the Royal Elementary School together. But after my father sent me to the academy for training noble ladies, we didn’t see each other much anymore.”
Song Feiyu nodded, not delving deeper into the matter.
But her newly settled heart was soon stirred again by the Second Prince.
After finishing his conversation with the elder statesmen, he turned to face Gu Yi.
“I didn’t expect you to be engaged after just a few months apart. Why isn’t there a wedding banquet? Is the old gentleman displeased?”
“You know the answer to that,” Gu Yi replied, her tone tinged with cold indifference.
Today, Gu Yi wore a long white dress that restricted her movements. In the past, she would have simply turned and walked away. Now, she could only cross her arms and watch him, her expression faintly frosty.
“Gu Yi…”
The Second Prince tried to continue, but Gu Yi’s patience was wearing thin, her delicate brows furrowing slightly.
Her expression silenced Pervy, who could only sigh softly and abandon the conversation.
As Pervy walked away, his figure seemed forlorn.
Song Feiyu, however, had sensed the strange tension between them. She reached out and gently took Gu Yi’s hand, leading her to a secluded corner.
“What’s your relationship with him?” Song Feiyu asked, her voice low and urgent, almost pulling Gu Yi into a hug.
She pressed Gu Yi against the cool marble pillar, her tone slightly stern. Gu Yi could even detect a faint scent of lavender.
Song Feiyu was barely restraining her temper.
But I didn’t say anything wrong just now, Gu Yi thought, tilting her head. Maybe Pervy’s tone was too suggestive.
So she took the initiative, cupping Song Feiyu’s cheeks and gently pressing a kiss against them. She was wearing vibrant lipstick today, and even the softest touch left a faint red mark on Song Feiyu’s cheek, like a vivid flower petal.
“What does it matter? I only like you,” Gu Yi declared, taking the offensive and leaving Song Feiyu momentarily stunned.
Looking down at the other woman, Gu Yi voiced her suspicion: “Does the Second Prince have feelings for you?”
Gu Yi didn’t answer, so Song Feiyu continued, “Just because they spent time together as children, he’s been hung up on you ever since? That’s quite devoted…”
Before Song Feiyu could finish her assessment, a finger gently pressed against her lips.
“Song Feiyu, let’s not talk about him.”
“I’m yours now.”
With those words, Gu Yi reached out, wrapping her arm around Song Feiyu’s neck and pulling her close.
Gu Yi wore exquisite makeup today, her crystal earrings swaying with each movement.
Song Feiyu hated her own inexplicable bad temper, but the way Pervy had looked at Gu Yi made her uneasy.
Suppressing the strange feeling in her heart, Song Feiyu closed her eyes and gently returned Gu Yi’s jasmine kiss.
The mingling scents of lavender and jasmine soothed the bitterness in Song Feiyu’s heart.
Yet for some reason, this time her kiss lacked its usual tenderness.
It was almost… harsh.
Song Feiyu only released Gu Yi when she felt the third tap on her shoulder.
“What’s wrong?” Gu Yi asked, rubbing her lip where her makeup had smudged.
Did Song Feiyu eat gunpowder today? Gu Yi wondered. She’s in such a foul mood.
They hadn’t even said anything to the Second Prince. If Gu Yi truly liked Pervy, why would she have traveled all this way to find Song Feiyu?
After all, the VIP star coins she’d specially recharged for Song Feiyu at the Matchmaker Agency were still unused.
