The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 41
The ball appeared lively, but in reality, it was rather mundane. Guests clinked glasses, their opulent noble attire flaunting their privileged status.
Gu Yi’s slender middle and ring fingers gripped a stemmed glass, the cool crystal pressing against her skin, offering a refreshing comfort.
However, alcohol’s effects were swift. The more she drank, the stronger the urge to use the restroom grew.
Gu Yi subtly tightened her legs and turned to Song Feiyu beside her.
“Song Feiyu, I’m going to the restroom.”
Song Feiyu was currently engaged in conversation with a Fleet commander who knew her real name and had thoroughly studied the battles she had led.
“Do you want me to accompany you?”
Though Song Feiyu held a glass, she wasn’t drinking.
This was her habit as a Captain—always allowing herself a light buzz, but never intoxication.
Because she had to be ready for unexpected situations.
The warm yellow banquet lights bathed her face. Song Feiyu wore minimal makeup, but the faint flush on her lips from their recent intimacy made her look irresistibly healthy and alluring.
“Why do I need company to go to the restroom? I’m not a child,” Gu Yi said, waving her hand dismissively. She handed her wine glass to Song Feiyu, crossed her legs, and hurried forward.
To maintain an air of elegance, the nobles had designed the restrooms to be quite far from the ballroom. Gu Yi had to navigate several winding corridors before finding the nearest one.
After using the restroom, she checked her makeup in the mirror, touching up the areas she had missed earlier. Only then did she step out.
But as soon as she took a step, Gu Yi was hit by an overwhelming scent—not pleasant, but acrid, almost overpowering the restroom’s lavender fragrance.
“Who’s messing around again…?” Gu Yi muttered under her breath. Unfortunately, such incidents were all too common at noble balls.
Her slender heels clicked crisply against the marble floor as she hurried down the corridor.
Before she could reach the corner, she spotted a man.
He radiated an intense pheromone signature—fierce but foul-smelling, like rotting flowers mixed with rainwater from a garbage heap.
“You’re an Omega?”
The man tugged at his tie, his eyes bloodshot, a fierce desire burning in their depths.
Gu Yi sensed something was wrong. This man was a top-tier Alpha.
She frowned.
Damn it, she thought, why did I have to stumble into this situation?
She hadn’t brought any self-defense tools, but…
Gu Yi gripped the Lavender Pheromone pendant around her neck. Even though the pheromone had been depleted, holding it still gave her a sense of security.
“Perfect,” he growled, “I was just looking for an Omega.”
He strode toward her, his steps urgent.
Gu Yi instinctively retreated a step or two, but she knew she couldn’t match a top-tier Alpha in physical strength.
She resolved to wait for an opening and deliver a decisive blow, relying on her remaining pheromone to hold him off for a while.
But after only a couple of steps, another figure lunged forward, his fist striking the man’s nose with lightning speed.
Gu Yi initially thought it was Song Feiyu, but when she saw the newcomer’s profile, her heart sank.
This man wasn’t Song Feiyu either, but an unfamiliar Alpha.
Legend had it that if an Omega in heat was simultaneously detected by multiple Alphas, it would trigger an extremely awkward struggle. Such incidents had occurred only a handful of times in the Empire’s history.
Gu Yi never imagined she would become the protagonist of such an event today, especially since she had done nothing wrong. Her pheromone patch was securely in place, and she had even applied a dose of artificial pheromones before leaving home.
If only I had asked Song Feiyu to come with me, Gu Yi thought with a pang of regret.
Seeing the current situation, escape seemed to be her only option. She retreated into the restroom, locked the door, and activated her terminal, only to find its signal blocked.
Gu Yi’s suspicions solidified.
This elaborate scheme… they must be trying to ruin my reputation.
If she were to be marked by another Alpha while already marked, the pheromone rejection reaction would push Gu Yi to the brink of life and death. Adding a third Alpha to the mix would guarantee her demise.
The sounds of fighting erupted outside the door as the two Alphas’ pheromones clashed violently. Gu Yi, overwhelmed by the chaotic energy, felt dizzy and disoriented.
Gu Yi instinctively reached for the purple glass tube hanging around her neck, bringing it to her nose and inhaling lightly to maintain her composure.
“Don’t faint…” she repeated silently to herself, a mantra to stay conscious.
Ten minutes had passed. Even a trip to the restroom shouldn’t take this long.
Song Feiyu frowned, her eyes brimming with worry. She had no interest in continuing the conversation.
“Excuse me, I need to check on Gu Yi. She’s been gone too long, and I’m getting anxious.”
“Omegas are like that—a bit high-maintenance, but that’s normal,” the man persisted, trying to reassure her.
But something snapped in Song Feiyu’s mind. Her gaze swept across the man’s face, as if sensing something amiss.
“Are you trying to stall me?”
The question was sharp, swift, and ruthless, almost spitting out of her mouth.
The man froze, momentarily stunned, his face plastered with an awkward smile.
“How could you think that? I genuinely admire Captain Song’s tactical brilliance.”
Song Feiyu’s expression vanished in an instant. Her brows lowered, her eyes radiating a chilling warning—like the biting wind before a battle, cold enough to strip flesh from bone.
“You’d better hope nothing goes wrong. Because if it does…”
“I’ll take you down with me.”
Song Feiyu had always been like this—a barefoot warrior who feared no one in shoes.
The man, sweating under her intense stare, found himself at a loss for words.
Song Feiyu turned and strode away, inwardly berating herself. She should have stayed by Gu Yi’s side. Despite knowing how many scandals could erupt at these social gatherings, she had let Gu Yi attend alone.
Despite the numerous Alphas at the banquet eyeing Gu Yi, Song Feiyu had been so careless.
“Song Feiyu, you’re such an idiot,” she muttered to herself, then sprinted in the direction Gu Yi had just left, nearly tripping several times in her panic.
As she approached, she saw the restroom door had been forced open, with two Alphas shoving each other to squeeze inside.
“Gu Yi!” Song Feiyu shouted, breathless and disheveled, her elegant Noble dress slightly unbuttoned from the frantic running.
Her eyes fixed on the scene inside: Gu Yi was leaning weakly against the wall, her hands clenched tightly around a small glass vial, desperately clinging to her sanity to prevent herself from losing control and rushing out.
Hearing the shout, Gu Yi looked up and saw Song Feiyu.
Before she could register any relief, the two Alphas turned around.
“You want to snatch the Omega too?” they snarled, their voices burning with fury. Clearly, they had lost all reason, driven mad by the faint jasmine scent. They believed that claiming Gu Yi in that moment would be worth dying for.
“You’re not worthy,” Song Feiyu retorted, ripping off her navy blue tie and wrapping it tightly around the knuckles of her right hand—a precaution to protect her joints during close-quarters combat. She wound the tie tighter and tighter, her heart already seething with murderous intent.
