The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 43
The western district of the Empire, primarily a residential area, was quiet and peaceful. The streets were impeccably clean, and occasionally one might spot a stray cat or dog, their fur gleaming white.
Gu Yi moved with just a suitcase or two, true to her minimalist nature. She had never been one for excessive baggage.
The mansion left by Gu Yi’s mother was showing its age. Despite annual maintenance, the lack of occupants had accelerated its deterioration.
The lawn, trimmed just a month prior, had grown wildly, now reaching past her ankles.
Song Feiyu surveyed the property, quite pleased with what she saw.
Gu Yi immediately ordered a three-day luxury home repair package through her terminal, designed to restore the mansion’s dilapidated areas. The package included trimming the overgrown grass, shrubs, and flowerbeds.
Excellent, she thought.
As for herself, she focused on selecting new clothes and furniture. She couldn’t let Song Feiyu’s mother arrive to find the place filled with relics from decades past.
The first day was chaotic, with Gu Yi directing the repair crews and finally organizing the specific areas needing attention.
On the second day, Gu Yi slept in late.
She didn’t wake until afternoon, when she activated her terminal and lay by the floor-to-ceiling windows, meticulously browsing furniture options.
A specialist was explaining the features through a holographic projection.
“Miss Gu, this furniture set is made from wood imported from Huaien Star. The wood has a fragrant aroma and beautiful grain. While it’s a bit pricier, we guarantee you’ll be absolutely satisfied with your purchase…”
Gu Yi nodded along, adding everything she liked to her shopping cart.
After finalizing another furniture purchase, she realized something was off.
Where was Song Feiyu?
Gu Yi scanned the room, but there wasn’t a trace of lavender scent. It seemed the woman had vanished since morning.
Where could she have gone?
Gu Yi stood up and began frantically searching the room, as if she’d lost her terminal. But after only a few steps, she spotted a busy figure outside through the floor-to-ceiling glass.
One of them was tall and slender, with long, straight legs.
Who else could it be but Song Feiyu?
She was pushing a metal lawnmower, her arms flexing slightly beneath her tank top, her fair skin glowing in the sunlight. Her curly hair was tied back, and she wore a sun hat.
She was chatting with a maintenance worker, who was also mowing the lawn, though his pace was noticeably slower.
Dressed in brown work pants, Song Feiyu could easily pass for a laborer—if not for the scars on her arms and abdomen.
Gu Yi stared for a long time, completely lost in thought. Grass clippings flew from the lawnmower, sticking to Song Feiyu’s arms and pant legs.
But she didn’t mind at all.
She patiently brushed off the grass clippings.
“You’re the owner of this estate. Why are you helping us with the work?” the Beta from the maintenance company asked, genuinely puzzled. Song Feiyu didn’t strike him as someone who would skimp on expenses.
“I’m on vacation and have nothing else to do,” Song Feiyu replied with a smile. “Helping you out is better than just sitting around.”
“You’re truly diligent,” the Beta praised. “Though I can’t help but feel you remind me of someone…”
He trailed off, but Song Feiyu finished his sentence.
“You mean Song Yin, right? We do look quite alike.”
Saying goodbye to her former self had been a difficult process. It had taken Song Feiyu a long time to emerge from that shadow.
Now, she could speak about her previous name with ease.
“Exactly! You’re practically identical,” the Beta agreed.
Gu Yi, still watching from the window, saw Song Feiyu laughing warmly with the Beta. For some reason, a strange unease settled in her heart.
But then she chided herself for being overly suspicious.
Song Feiyu wasn’t the type to be unfaithful. Even if she wanted to stray, her fragile health wouldn’t allow such indulgences.
Song Feiyu’s physical fitness was actually decent, but prolonged activity caused joint pain, and her glandular issues further complicated matters.
Even if she wanted to emulate the philandering ways of some Alphas, her body simply couldn’t handle it.
Dealing with just Gu Yi was already exhausting.
“Miss Gu… Miss Gu…”
The holographic presenter called out tentatively a couple of times before Gu Yi finally snapped out of her daze.
“Hm? What did you say?”
But her mind and gaze seemed to linger on Song Feiyu.
Damn it, that girl shouldn’t be wearing a tank top. She’s making me hungry again.
If I were an Alpha, I’d ravage her thoroughly!
But an Omega would do too.
Just need to be careful with Song Feiyu’s pheromones—can’t be too demanding.
“This furniture set is currently on sale…”
Gu Yi barely registered a word. She nodded and pressed the purchase button.
“I’ll take it all. Please have it delivered tomorrow.”
The presenter was surprised by her lavish spending, but seeing the luxurious decor of her home, they quickly nodded.
“We’ll arrange expedited delivery for you immediately.”
Gu Yi stepped outside. The Empire’s weather was consistently pleasant, and today was no exception—a clear, sunny day without excessive heat.
A gentle breeze brushed against her face, bringing a touch of clarity.
“Time to get up!”
Song Feiyu stopped what she was doing when she saw Gu Yi, smiling at her.
She wanted to approach, but noticing the grass clippings all over her clothes, she quickly brushed them off.
“I never knew you enjoyed working,” Gu Yi said, circling her with a hint of meaning in her voice.
“I was just bored,” Song Feiyu replied.
The bandages over Song Feiyu’s eyes had been removed, but close inspection revealed faint suture lines.
“Bored, huh? Come with me.” Gu Yi paused, then took Song Feiyu’s hand. “Don’t run too fast.”
Confused, Song Feiyu watched Gu Yi’s skirt sway slightly as she followed without resistance.
“Be careful not to trip,” Song Feiyu called out from behind, worried Gu Yi might fall.
Behind the house was another patch of lawn, but the maintenance crew hadn’t gotten around to trimming it yet.
Gu Yi wrapped her arm around Song Feiyu.
“I thought you weren’t fully recovered yet. Now you have the energy to work?” Gu Yi’s voice was soft, almost a whisper, as if afraid someone might overhear.
“It’s just a minor eye injury. Nothing serious.”
“Alphas naturally have strong healing abilities.”
Song Feiyu smiled, explaining that even a low-quality Alpha was far stronger than a Beta.
“Really?” Gu Yi’s tone was skeptical. Song Feiyu wasn’t sure what she was getting at, but she nodded anyway.
“Yes, I’m mostly recovered. You don’t need to worry so much…”
Before she could finish, Gu Yi’s lips pressed against hers.
Gu Yi leaned in almost aggressively, and Song Feiyu, trying to steady her, tumbled backward into the hay pile. The overgrown grass, its edges slightly fuzzy, tickled her skin.
“Gu Yi…”
Song Feiyu’s head swam from the fall, but her hands remained firmly clasped around Gu Yi’s waist.
“Song Feiyu, do you know? I’ve always thought you were so much like…” Gu Yi cupped Song Feiyu’s face, her gaze lingering on the curls spread across the green grass. She pressed her nose against Song Feiyu’s cheek.
“Like what?” Song Feiyu asked, wrapping her arms around Gu Yi. She was endlessly patient, always the first to grant leave to her trainees and the least likely to punish them. The trainees adored her.
Almost everyone’s first impression of Song Feiyu was one of gentle warmth.
But only she knew that those were just formalities.
In her entire life, she had never wanted to be so kind to someone.
“Like a little lamb, like the gentlest little lamb.”
