The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 54
With its energy reserves fully replenished, the Starship set sail once more.
Compared to its previous sluggish pace, this time it moved much faster, as they were now very close to the border.
Finally, Song Feiyu arrived at her target location.
However, she didn’t spot any sign of the Wanderers. This didn’t surprise her; no fool would reveal themselves so openly.
So, Song Feiyu followed her usual procedure, sending out scouts to probe the area first.
Learning from her previous experience, she didn’t have them pilot aircraft this time.
Instead, they disguised themselves as a small cargo drone, drifting aimlessly through the Wanderers’ hidden space, probing for any reaction.
If anyone couldn’t resist hijacking the drone, their position would be exposed.
During this waiting period, Song Feiyu simply set up camp on a nearby barren planet. Activating the Flying Ship required immense energy, so in non-combat mode, it was best to let it rest and recharge via solar energy.
This conserved resources.
The planet where they camped was desolate, much like the place where the two had crash-landed before.
The only difference was the presence of indigenous inhabitants here.
Song Feiyu sat on a chair in front of the camp, watching the soldiers conduct simulated training exercises with little interest.
“Your coffee.”
Gu Yi emerged, holding a cup of coffee that smelled exactly like the one she had made before.
Song Feiyu took a tentative sip and nodded in satisfaction. It was indeed sweetened with two lumps of sugar.
“Delicious.”
“Not bitter anymore?” Gu Yi teased with a smile.
“Not bitter at all. If it were still bitter…” Song Feiyu trailed off, reaching out to gently curl a strand of Gu Yi’s long black hair around her finger.
She suddenly recalled that day at the inn, when Gu Yi’s hair had been just as soft, tangling around her shoulder and wrist.
“But you’re here, aren’t you?”
Gu Yi remembered how Song Feiyu had shared the coffee’s bitterness with her last time. She looked up at Song Feiyu.
“So you really do use me as sugar?”
Though her words carried a hint of mock complaint, there was no real anger in her tone. Clearly, Gu Yi was quite fond of this dynamic.
As they chatted, the hatch of one of the Flying Ships opened, and a black mecha soared out.
The mecha stood tall and imposing, its most striking feature being the razor-sharp blade mounted on its arm.
Song Feiyu gazed at the massive machine, a sense of familiarity washing over her. Suddenly, she remembered the time she had been in grave danger, and Gu Yi had piloted this very mecha to rescue her.
“Obsidian Mecha,” she murmured, and Gu Yi nodded in confirmation.
“Can you operate it?” Gu Yi asked.
“No, I haven’t piloted a new mecha in years,” Song Feiyu replied.
Rumor had it that the Obsidian Mecha utilized the Empire’s latest operating system, completely different from the control schemes of older models.
“Then I’ll teach you,” Gu Yi said, rising to her feet and taking Song Feiyu’s hand, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “You’ve always been the one teaching me. Today, it’s my turn to teach you!”
Gu Yi knew how to pilot the Obsidian Mecha. The reason was simple: the Gu Family was responsible for its development. This was Old Master Gu’s pet project.
The two climbed into the mecha’s cockpit and watched as the hatch slowly sealed shut. Song Feiyu settled into the pilot’s seat and took a deep breath.
“Don’t be nervous,” Gu Yi reassured her.
Gu Yi wrapped her arms around Song Feiyu from behind, her slightly cool fingers gripping the back of Song Feiyu’s hand.
“Look, this is the neural interface system,” Gu Yi said. “It needs to connect to the nerves in your fingers.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Song Feiyu’s fingers pressed against the transparent sensor.
“Song Feiyu, try lifting your finger.”
Song Feiyu obeyed. As she lifted her finger, the Obsidian Mecha stirred to life.
“Most mecha use full-body controls, but that has its advantages and disadvantages. In the heat of battle, pilots often forget crucial tasks,” Gu Yi explained.
“Like reloading ammunition or using precision instruments like tracking cannons.”
“With finger controls, you can multitask much more efficiently.”
Of course, the Obsidian Mecha also had a full-body control system.
Most pilots familiar with standard mecha could also operate the Obsidian Mecha.
Under Gu Yi’s guidance, Song Feiyu quickly mastered the finger control system.
“You need fast reflexes to learn this,” Song Feiyu remarked.
After practicing all morning, Song Feiyu rubbed her wrist and couldn’t help but sigh in admiration.
“Of course,” Gu Yi replied, standing beside her. “But your hand speed is quite impressive.” She leaned in to kiss Song Feiyu’s forehead. “You’re learning even faster than I did.”
Song Feiyu looked up at Gu Yi, and for some reason, a mischievous thought suddenly crossed her mind.
She slowly lowered the back of her chair.
“Really?”
“There’s one other thing I learn quickly too.”
As the chair reclined, Song Feiyu braced her hands on either side of the backrest, looming over Gu Yi.
“What’s that?”
Gu Yi lay back in the chair, gazing up at Song Feiyu, momentarily at a loss for words. Why is she lowering the chair? It’s comfortable like this, but how can she teach me now?
Song Feiyu placed her fingertips on Gu Yi’s knee.
“Remember that day?” she asked softly, her voice drawing Gu Yi back to that memory. “After you marked me…”
Fragments of that day flashed through Gu Yi’s mind, and her face flushed crimson.
“Why do you always bring up the one thing I don’t want to talk about?”
She turned her head away, refusing to meet Song Feiyu’s gaze.
The memory of that drunken night flashed through her mind: she had cradled Song Feiyu’s cheeks, laughing like a fool.
She spoke slowly, her voice measured.
“Song Feiyu…”
“I don’t need my hands…”
Before Song Feiyu could agree, Gu Yi pressed her down and lowered her head.
The terrible memory faded, leaving Gu Yi feeling utterly mortified.
“Don’t do that,” she said sternly, rubbing Song Feiyu’s ear. “We’re still in the cockpit.”
Song Feiyu nodded.
“I didn’t say I was going to do that,” she protested innocently. “I just said I could learn too.”
“You should like it…”
Song Feiyu continued shamelessly.
Gu Yi quickly covered her mouth, straightening up until their foreheads touched.
“Please, don’t say that here,” Gu Yi pleaded, closing her eyes, the tips of her ears burning crimson.
“Then let me try it when we get back, okay?”
“Gu Yi.”
Gu Yi remained silent, and Song Feiyu leaned in closer.
Knowing that if she didn’t agree, Song Feiyu might persist, Gu Yi could only nod.
“Okay.”
Song Feiyu finally smiled happily, patting Gu Yi’s back.
“Don’t be shy. It’s my honor to make you happy.”
“I don’t know much. I haven’t had much exposure to knowledge before. If you’re willing to teach me, I can learn gradually.”
After speaking, Song Feiyu secretly thought to herself:
Perhaps I should cram more on this topic, learn what Omegas like and dislike. That way, I can make Gu Yi even happier.
The two lingered in the cockpit for a while before finally emerging.
