The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 7
Gu Yi lowered her head, gazing at the two pieces of fried fish on her plate. The fish emitted a rich, savory aroma, far more appetizing than the bland meat soup and compressed biscuits she’d had earlier.
“Where did you get this?” Gu Yi asked, picking up a piece with her chopsticks and tasting it.
The fish wasn’t as dry as she’d expected. The crispy skin clinging to the flesh added a hint of oily richness.
“I made it myself,” Song Feiyu replied. She wanted to laugh, but the wound at the corner of her mouth pulled painfully when she smiled.
“Then how did you get that?” Gu Yi set down her chopsticks, stood up, and gently touched Song Feiyu’s injured lip with her fingertip. Her eyes held an unreadable expression.
“It’s nothing. I just got into a fight earlier,” Song Feiyu said, turning her head slightly to avoid Gu Yi’s gaze.
“Your temperament isn’t one to start fights over a few words,” Gu Yi countered, grabbing Song Feiyu by the collar and forcing the slightly guilty Alpha to meet her eyes.
“It’s just… it’s just…” Song Feiyu stammered, her words faltering under Gu Yi’s intense stare. Gu Yi’s beautiful eyebrows furrowed as she pressed her gaze.
“Someone was maliciously speculating about our relationship.”
Song Feiyu stared at Gu Yi, explaining slowly, “What malicious speculation?”
Gu Yi sat back down, picked up another piece of fish, and savored it. She had tasted countless delicacies in her life, but this was the first time she felt that ordinary pan-fried fish could rival the dishes prepared by the imperial chefs.
“I’m the bottom,” Song Feiyu blurted out. Just as she wanted to crawl into a hole, she heard a violent coughing fit beside her.
“Cough, cough…”
“What’s wrong? Are you choking?” Song Feiyu rushed over, her eyes filled with concern, and patted Gu Yi’s slender back.
“No,” Gu Yi managed to swallow, her face composed, though her heart couldn’t help but flutter with joy.
She had proven she could achieve what she set out to do: tame Song Feiyu.
“I know you’re happy, but…” Song Feiyu leaned closer to Gu Yi’s ear, her eyes burning with stubborn defiance. “Alpha and Alpha… it’s all about strength. There are some things we need to settle between ourselves.”
Song Feiyu refused to accept being protected. How could she let a beauty like Gu Yi be merely enjoyed without claiming her? She would regret it for the rest of her life.
After finishing her meal, Gu Yi immediately resumed watching videos. Song Feiyu took the plate away to wash it.
Just as Song Feiyu stepped out of the tent, Gu Yi’s terminal rang at an inopportune moment.
“What is it?” Gu Yi answered, but as she looked at the face on the holographic projection, her previously cheerful expression gradually crumbled.
The call was from the Gu Family’s private channel, specifically her father’s assistant.
“Miss, the gene matching database has yielded new results. Master is urging you to return immediately.”
The assistant, dressed in a crisp suit with his hair half-gray, gazed at Gu Yi through the holographic projection with deep concern.
“I’ve told you countless times—I will not marry a stranger,” Gu Yi said coldly, glaring at her father’s assistant. She had repeated this sentiment countless times, yet the old man acted as if he hadn’t heard a word.
“Miss, this isn’t a decision you can make,” the assistant retorted, refusing to back down. The tension between them reached a fever pitch.
“Fine, very well!” Gu Yi nodded sharply. “If you have the guts, come and drag me back.”
With that, she abruptly ended the call and wearily rubbed her temples.
An Alpha could mark multiple Omegas, but an Omega could only be marked by a single Alpha.
How utterly unfair! A person only gets one chance to choose their life partner. What if they end up with a complete scoundrel?
Removing a mark is a life-or-death gamble, one that not all Omegas can endure.
Gu Yi rummaged through her luggage and pulled out a tube of medicinal ointment. Her elder sister had given it to her, claiming it could soothe anything from a minor lip injury to a broken bone.
After circling the camp, Gu Yi finally spotted Song Feiyu.
She found her sitting inside a makeshift tent, her fingers flying across a screen as she searched for information.
Gu Yi leaned over to peek at the screen.
Song Feiyu was searching for: “How should two Alphas have a peaceful relationship?” and “Little-known physiological facts about Alpha-Alpha relationships!”
Wearing black-rimmed glasses, Song Feiyu looked exactly like one of those bookish nerds from her high school class—the ones who always aced every exam. She was meticulously copying down what she deemed useful knowledge.
“What’s the point of reading all this?”
Gu Yi approached from behind and covered Song Feiyu’s eyes with her hand.
Though she was reluctant to admit it, she wasn’t an Alpha. Some physiological differences meant this little dork was wasting her time studying things that wouldn’t apply to her.
“I’m learning,” Song Feiyu said with a soft laugh, clearly embarrassed to be caught secretly cramming.
“What’s the point of learning this? Why not just practice it yourself?”
Gu Yi hooked her finger under Song Feiyu’s collar, her voice softening, a stark contrast to her usual demeanor in front of others.
“How would you practice?”
Song Feiyu looked up at Gu Yi, a hint of confusion in her eyes. The next moment, a pair of warm lips pressed against hers.
Before Gu Yi could linger for even a second longer, a loud clatter rang out.
Song Feiyu tumbled off the chair, her hands bracing against the floor, her face flushed with disarray.
Her cheeks, neck, and the roots of her ears were all crimson.
“Why did you suddenly…?”
Song Feiyu couldn’t find the right words, only staring at Gu Yi with a look of wounded innocence.
“See? What’s the point of all that theoretical knowledge? When it comes down to it, you still lack the courage.”
Gu Yi crouched down, unscrewing the lid of the ointment she’d brought. She scooped a small amount of the white cream onto her fingertip and gently applied it to the corner of Song Feiyu’s lip.
The cut still stung slightly, causing Song Feiyu to wince.
In the past, she had endured the roar of battle without so much as a flicker of pain. But after years away from the front lines, even a minor lip injury now felt unbearable.
“Who says I lack courage? I just…”
Song Feiyu trailed off, unable to finish her sentence.
When she was Captain, countless Omegas had been introduced to her, but Song Feiyu had been completely focused on her career. As a result, she had never even kissed a woman’s lips.
Now, suddenly being kissed, she was somewhat flustered.
“Just what?” Gu Yi leaned closer, her forehead pressed against Song Feiyu’s. The faint jasmine scent invaded Song Feiyu’s nostrils.
“Just… I haven’t experienced it before,” Song Feiyu admitted, avoiding Gu Yi’s gaze. She closed her eyes as Gu Yi inhaled the faint lavender fragrance from her slightly curled hair.
After a long moment, Gu Yi finally murmured, “Coward.”
As soon as the word left her lips, Gu Yi stood up, but Song Feiyu gripped her wrist tightly.
“Don’t go.”
Song Feiyu looked at Gu Yi, recalling the earlier insult. She wasn’t some subordinate. Even if she was now disabled, she would still fight for her position.
With that thought, Song Feiyu rose to her feet. The toe of her black combat boot nudged Gu Yi’s pristine leather shoe. Using those few centimeters of height to her advantage, she looked down at Gu Yi with a commanding gaze.
