The Top Omega Girlfriend of a Useless Alpha - Chapter 9
“Does it really matter? I’m here now, and none of you can tell anyway,” Gu Yi said dismissively.
This underground bunker was just a temporary shelter, devoid of any luxuries. Aside from a rust-stained iron bed, there were only some emergency medical supplies.
After rummaging through the supplies for a while, Gu Yi couldn’t find any suppressants, and her heart sank.
She had rushed out in such a hurry that she had only brought some ointment and nothing else.
Although she had one suppressant left, it was nearly empty—a discarded vial she had pocketed after using it, too rushed to throw it away.
After all, she was using Omega suppressants, which couldn’t be carelessly tossed into the trash without raising suspicion.
“What are you looking for?” Song Feiyu asked, having just caught her breath. Seeing Gu Yi frantically searching, she moved closer to investigate.
In the dim light, Gu Yi clutched a silver suppressant vial tightly in her hand. Only a tiny bit of pale green liquid remained.
“This is bad…”
Song Feiyu didn’t know what to say. They definitely couldn’t go outside now.
If they did, Gu Yi would be dragged back for another matchmaking session.
Even ordinary Omegas had the right to choose their Alpha, but nobles were restricted to a tiny pool of candidates, all under the euphemistic pretense of “pure bloodlines.”
Gu Yi used the last of the suppressant, then unbuttoned her shirt. Song Feiyu couldn’t bear to watch.
She turned away, pressing her forehead against the cold tiles.
“Don’t do this. I can’t mark you. My pheromones are useless…”
It would be better to spend more time resisting her Heat.
“What are you thinking? You’re disgusting.”
Gu Yi spread her coat on the bed and habitually rolled up her shirt sleeves to her elbows.
Then she lay down.
“I’m going to rest now. Remember to come lie down later, or you’ll definitely catch a cold sleeping on the floor.”
So what if she was out of suppressants? She’d endured worse on the battlefield, gritting her teeth and surviving those days.
Now it was just a day or two.
Gu Yi trusted her own endurance.
She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, but her slumber was far from peaceful.
In her dream, Gu Yi was captured by a man whose pheromones reeked of nauseating tobacco. She was forced to change into a beautiful, long, sky-blue dress.
Accompanied by her elder sister and second brother, she arrived at a grand evening party teeming with top-tier Alphas.
Every Alpha scrutinized Gu Yi with the calculating gaze of someone appraising merchandise, making her deeply uncomfortable.
Countless Alpha pheromones assaulted her senses, leaving her dizzy and feverish.
She felt like she was drowning in warm water, but then, a faint lavender scent drifted from beside her.
The calming aroma made Gu Yi snap her eyes open. She realized Song Feiyu had fallen asleep beside her.
Song Feiyu’s jacket was draped over Gu Yi, while Song Feiyu herself wore only a thin shirt, her skin already cold. Her brow was furrowed, clearly restless even in sleep.
Gu Yi spread the jacket over both of them. She had always been repulsed by Alpha pheromones due to their aggressive intensity.
But Song Feiyu was different. Her scent was as delicate as fading perfume, leaving Gu Yi feeling only comfort.
Without realizing it, Gu Yi leaned against Song Feiyu’s shoulder, their hair tangling together.
The man sat in the main seat, his eyes burning with displeasure as he glared at the subordinate reporting to him.
“Have you found Gu Yi yet?” he asked impatiently. The boss had summoned him to bring his daughter home—a simple task that he had somehow botched. No matter how you looked at it, it was a humiliating failure.
The thick, acrid scent of tobacco pheromones filled the tent, suffocating everyone present.
Heads bowed, no one dared to speak.
It was clear they had failed to locate the Third Miss.
“A bunch of useless fools!” Huo Bing roared, rising to his feet. But as he did, his gaze fell upon a map of the wilderness base hanging inside the tent.
The map was marked with numerous small locations, each labeled “Bunker.”
Huo Bing stepped closer to examine it, and suddenly comprehension dawned on him.
“Check the bunkers beneath this base! Gu Yi must be hiding there!”
With this command, everyone sprang into action.
The rustling footsteps overhead made it impossible to sleep. Gu Yi opened her eyes.
A grim suspicion settled in her heart. She guessed Huo Bing’s men had already found the bunker.
“What do we do now?” Song Feiyu asked, her battlefield instincts kicking in.
Song Feiyu reached into her high-laced combat boots and pulled out a hidden dagger. She planned to rush out and engage the intruders the moment the door opened, creating a distraction for Gu Yi to escape.
Gu Yi glanced at Song Feiyu’s tightly clenched hand on the dagger’s hilt, immediately understanding her plan.
“Resisting is pointless. There are too many of them,” Gu Yi said, as if she had anticipated this all along. Her fingers brushed against the pheromone patch on the back of her neck. With a determined motion, she tore it off.
“You’re insane! There are Alphas everywhere!” Song Feiyu frantically tried to cover Gu Yi’s neck. Exposing an Omega’s pheromones to Alphas was tantamount to suicide.
“I’m not insane. I have this.” Gu Yi pulled out her silver necklace, which held a small purple glass vial. “Inject it into my gland.”
She yanked the necklace off and handed it to Song Feiyu.
“What is this? A suppressant?” Song Feiyu’s heart leaped with hope. She knew Gu Yi, being so clever, would never act without a plan. If Gu Yi could shake off her weakened state, their chances of escaping together would greatly improve.
“No, it’s artificial pheromones.”
Gu Yi looked up at Song Feiyu, her deep black eyes filled with resolute determination.
“Gu Yi, you wouldn’t…” Song Feiyu’s brow furrowed deeper, as if she had guessed what Gu Yi was about to do. She clutched the purple suppressant and hid it behind her back.
Some Omegas loathed Alphas so intensely that they invented a special pheromone: artificial Alpha pheromones. These allowed Omegas who didn’t want a partner to endure their painful Heat periods.
However, Omegas remained bound by their biology. Once they used artificial pheromones, they could only ever recognize that specific type. No other pheromone could ever substitute it, much like being able to recognize only one Alpha.
“This isn’t a wise decision. What if you find someone better later?” Song Feiyu pressed, clutching the artificial pheromone tightly, unwilling to hand it over. “This will ruin your life.”
With the gland patch torn off, Gu Yi’s condition had deteriorated rapidly. The small bunker was now thick with the intense Jasmine Scent.
“Song Feiyu… Captain Song… I only want you…” Gu Yi reached out, cupping Song Feiyu’s face, their foreheads nearly touching. She emphasized each word: “I only want you.”
