The True Record of a Flirty Omega's Failed Balancing Act - Chapter 23
Chapter 23
â—ŽWhat on earth should she do with her?â—Ž
A few scattered fireworks fell at their feet. Ning Chanyue pulled Xu Guiyi back a few steps and repeated what she had just said, “I said, will I still be in your twenty-sixth year?”
She didn’t seem too confident. Her voice was very soft and floated into Xu Guiyi’s ears.
After she finished speaking, one of Xu Guiyi’s hands wrapped around her waist. She gently pulled Ning Chanyue into her arms, completely embracing her.
Ning Chanyue heard Xu Guiyi let out an almost inaudible sigh.
Was it helplessness? Or was it compromise? She didn’t know.
Ning Chanyue only felt Xu Guiyi resting her chin on the top of her head. After a while, Xu Guiyi said, “Aren’t you right by my side now?”
The moment the words fell, the corners of Ning Chanyue’s lips unconsciously turned up. But in an instant, she seemed to realize something and disappointedly lowered her eyes.
That’s right. Xu Guiyi’s words were not a promise for the future, but a statement of their current state.
Actually, Ning Chanyue had always wanted to ask Xu Guiyi why she was so good to her but still called her a high school classmate, and why she had to burn such a conspicuous and indelible hole in that photo.
But at this moment, Xu Guiyi was gently stroking her hair. Ning Chanyue opened her mouth but didn’t make a sound. She still chose to hug Xu Guiyi back.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. They could only hear the crisp chirping of a cuckoo not far away. The bird’s song had a long echo that spread throughout the valley.
Xu Guiyi held Ning Chanyue’s face, which was buried in her neck. Ning Chanyue’s eyes were very bright when she looked at her. It was as if stars were twinkling when she blinked.
Xu Guiyi’s eyelashes suddenly trembled. She carefully looked at Ning Chanyue for a while and then suddenly said, “The fireworks today were beautiful… Can I kiss you?”
Xu Guiyi slightly raised her head. Her shoulder-length hair kept brushing against Ning Chanyue’s neck with the breeze, which made Ning Chanyue’s voice unconsciously filled with a hint of a smile. She nodded and said, “Okay.”
The next second, Xu Guiyi’s soft lips pressed against hers, just like every time before. But even with such a simple touch, it still made Ning Chanyue’s heart beat uncontrollably.
Xu Guiyi, does your heart beat like mine?
As if possessed by a ghost, Ning Chanyue placed her hand on Xu Guiyi’s heart. Xu Guiyi’s eyelashes trembled. She slightly opened her eyes, raised an eyebrow, as if asking Ning Chanyue if something was wrong.
After a while, Ning Chanyue put down her hand and hugged Xu Guiyi again. Then she bit her lips lightly with satisfaction.
Ning Chanyue’s nose was filled with the scent of soil, jasmine, sandalwood, or a mixture of all the scents that had indistinguishably blended together and floated into her nostrils. She slowly closed her eyes again and unconsciously pressed her tongue against Xu Guiyi’s lips. But before she could use any force, the lips had already slightly parted, opening the door for her. So the two of them became even more intertwined.
She didn’t know how much time had passed, but Xu Guiyi gently pushed her away.
Even though she hadn’t had a single drop of alcohol, when Ning Chanyue opened her eyes again, she felt a little tipsy, and her cheeks had even become a little red.
Ning Chanyue pursed her lips and said, “It’s so nice that it’s just the two of us here.”
They could do whatever they wanted, kiss wherever they wanted, and not care about what others thought.
One of Xu Guiyi’s hands was still loosely wrapped around Ning Chanyue. Her eyes were a little dark, and her voice was a little low. She only heard her say, “Actually… what if it was just the two of us from the very beginning?”
“The beginning?”
“Yes… from the moment we met, what if there was only the two of us in the world?”
When she said this, a faint smile hung on the corner of Xu Guiyi’s lips.
But Ning Chanyue knew that Xu Guiyi’s tone was extremely serious and not a joke at all.
Xu Guiyi’s chin moved down a little, and she slightly nodded. But for some reason, Ning Chanyue’s heart seemed to skip a beat.
She didn’t say anything. She just re-buried her head in Xu Guiyi’s neck, hugging her a little tighter, and then a little tighter.
But she didn’t know if it was just her imagination. Ning Chanyue felt that Xu Guiyi’s hand that was holding her was also using a little force.
After a while, a drop of water seemed to fall on Ning Chanyue’s shoulder. The touch was cold. So she looked up, but before she could ask, she heard Xu Guiyi say, “It seems to be raining again.”
At first, it was just a drop or two of large raindrops tentatively hitting the ground. But after a while, a gust of wind blew by, bringing the rolling dark clouds with it. So the rain suddenly became heavy, instantly soaking the ground with a pattering sound and also turning Ning Chanyue’s car window into a curtain of rain.
Fortunately, Ning Chanyue was a step ahead of the rain and ran back to the car. She closed the car door, took off the jacket that Xu Guiyi had just put on her head to block the rain, took two breaths, and then turned on the car light. She pouted and said, “The weather forecast didn’t say it would rain today…”
Ning Chanyue hadn’t finished speaking, but she felt as if something had covered her arm again. So she stopped talking and looked in that direction.
She saw Xu Guiyi take a shirt out of her bag and put it on Ning Chanyue’s shoulder.
“I’m not cold, you wear it.”
Just as Ning Chanyue was about to take off the shirt, Xu Guiyi held her hand down. She only heard her say, “It’s raining. The temperature will drop tonight, and you’re only wearing a T-shirt. Last time…”
Xu Guiyi didn’t finish. But Ning Chanyue stopped taking off the shirt. Then the two of them smiled at each other knowingly.
Last time, which was six or seven years ago in April or May, she and Xu Guiyi went on a trip to the beach. The temperature difference between day and night was big at the beach. She was wearing a spaghetti strap dress and endured the cold to wander around with Xu Guiyi until midnight before returning to the hotel. After exercising again that night, she sweated a lot. In the next few days, Ning Chanyue had a low fever and was lying in bed, being taken care of by Xu Guiyi. Their travel plans were also ruined.
So Ning Chanyue obediently buttoned up the shirt. But the rain came and went quickly. In a little while, there were only a few soft raindrops sticking to the car window. But Ning Chanyue looked out the window and still frowned, saying, “What if it rains in the middle of the night? We can’t sleep in the car.”
“I saw a small cave in that forest over there,” Xu Guiyi on the side said. “We can move the tent over there.”
“Really?” Ning Chanyue turned her head. She looked at Xu Guiyi and then at the tent in the trunk. She smiled and patted her leg. She said, “This way of taking shelter from the rain is a little too old-fashioned.”
But Ning Chanyue still dragged the tent with Xu Guiyi to the cave next to the forest. But at this time, there were no fireflies in the forest, and the moonlight was also covered by layers of dark clouds. If it weren’t for the flashlight, it would probably be a gloomy darkness, let alone the already pitch-black cave.
“Are you scared?” When they set up the tent, Xu Guiyi turned around and asked Ning Chanyue this.
Ning Chanyue, however, shook her head. She half-squatted on the ground. After securing the tent, she clapped her hands twice to remove the dust and said, “I would probably be a little scared if I were alone, but with you… I feel like it’s quite new.”
After Ning Chanyue finished speaking, she unzipped the tent. After sitting on the air mattress, she waved her hand, signaling for Xu Guiyi to come in as well.
“I actually think it’s quite new too,” After Xu Guiyi got into the tent, she put her bag in the corner and turned to Ning Chanyue, saying, “I’ve been to a lot of places with you before, but I don’t think I’ve had an experience like this.”
Ning Chanyue knelt in the tent. She tilted her head and put her hand on Xu Guiyi’s hand that was on the mattress. She said, “Yeah, but we also said before that we wanted to go to many places, not just here.”
Xu Guiyi lowered her eyes and said, “I remember.”
“When we have time, we can go together again.”
Perhaps she was unconsciously imagining a beautiful future. Ning Chanyue suddenly chuckled a couple of times as she spoke. Seeing Xu Guiyi come in, she gave Xu Guiyi half of the blanket that was wrapped around her. The two of them sat in the same blanket with their legs curled up.
After a while, for some reason, Ning Chanyue suddenly sighed. Before Xu Guiyi could ask, she said, “It’s a shame I’ll be joining a new production team in a few days. It’s in Xicheng, which is very far. It’ll probably be a long time before I can come back…”
“How long?” Xu Guiyi asked Ning Chanyue.
Would she also be a little sad?
So Ning Chanyue said, “It’ll probably be after a month… Will you miss me?”
Ning Chanyue looked back at Xu Guiyi. But Xu Guiyi didn’t hesitate. She directly nodded and said, “I will.”
“Really?” The corners of Ning Chanyue’s lips turned up, and her tone went up as well.
“Really.” Xu Guiyi’s tone went down. She said it with certainty and sincerity.
Ning Chanyue leaned a little closer to Xu Guiyi. She said in one breath, “Then when I come back, can I still come and find you?”
“My little place? Can you get used to living there?”
But just as Ning Chanyue was about to say something else, she yawned, blocking the words she was about to say. After the long yawn was over, she said, “Actually, it’s fine as long as I’m with you. Or… you and my sister can move to my place. But it might be a little far.”
But Xu Guiyi just said, “Are you sleepy?”
When she saw Ning Chanyue nod, she spread out the blanket and let Ning Chanyue lie down on it. Ning Chanyue still wanted to say something, but after Xu Guiyi hugged her, the thin pheromones enveloped her entire body from top to bottom. Perhaps she felt extraordinarily relaxed, and her eyelids couldn’t help but fight each other.
Forget it. There were still a few days before she had to join the production team. It wouldn’t be too late to discuss these things then…
After Ning Chanyue said good night to Xu Guiyi, she fell into a deep sleep again.
She didn’t know when the dark clouds outside the tent had almost completely scattered. The crescent moon, hidden in the clouds, quietly peeked its head out. Inside the tent, Xu Guiyi used the night to trace Ning Chanyue’s face over and over again with her gaze. Her arms, which were wrapped around Ning Chanyue, had never let go, but her eyes, as she looked at her, gradually became somber.
What on earth should she do with her?
