The True Record of a Flirty Omega's Failed Balancing Act - Chapter 32
Chapter 32
â—ŽI want to go with you.â—Ž
Ning Chanyue was woken up by her mother.
“Ningning, it’s already past nine.”
Perhaps it was the old woman’s habit of going to bed and waking up early and her dislike of young people sleeping in too much, or for some other reason, her mother knocked on Ning Chanyue’s door several times. Seeing that she didn’t respond, she pushed the door open directly. After saying this, seeing that she didn’t react, she patted her shoulder.
“Get off, don’t bother me so early in the morning.”
But as soon as her mother’s hand was on her shoulder, it was slapped away by Ning Chanyue’s conditioned reflex.
But her mother didn’t seem to mind much.
She only saw her mother pull back the hand that Ning Chanyue had slapped away and say, “Ningning, get up and have some breakfast.”
“Huh?”
Hearing a voice different from what she had expected, Ning Chanyue half-opened her eyes groggily. But when she saw the person in front of her, her eyes suddenly widened.
What did she just say to her mother? She thought…
“I’m sorry, Mom. I wasn’t fully awake just now…” Ning Chanyue immediately sat up and apologized to her mother in a slightly hoarse morning voice, “Are you okay?”
She thought it was that annoying You Zhuoqing who pestered her all the time.
Then, Ning Chanyue took her mother’s hand that had just been hit and gently rubbed her rough hand. She apologized again, “I’m sorry, Mom.”
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” her mother didn’t seem to mind at all. She smiled at her soothingly and then said, “You young people, it’s normal to be a little grumpy in the morning. I called you because Xiao You made breakfast. It looks quite hearty, so I came to ask you if you want to eat.”
Xiao You… Hearing her mother mention her, Ning Chanyue subconsciously glanced at the bedside, and sure enough, that extra person was no longer there.
But before Ning Chanyue could speak, her mother frowned for some reason, and the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes became even more obvious. She only heard her add, “Sigh, I told Xiao You not to do it, but she wouldn’t listen. This child is something else. Yesterday she got her face like that, and today she has a bit of a fever. She won’t rest properly and has to keep busy.”
Fever? Ning Chanyue’s movement to get out of bed stiffened.
“…Is it serious?” Ning Chanyue, for once, was concerned about You Zhuoqing.
“It’s over 38 degrees. She took fever medicine this morning. I don’t know if it will go down.” When she said this, her mother’s voice paused again. Although she vaguely sensed that there was something going on between You Zhuoqing and her daughter, her voice was filled with concern for the younger generation.
Ning Chanyue pursed her lips. After a few seconds, she replied, “It got windy and colder last night. She might have caught a cold and gotten a fever.”
“How could she catch a cold in this weather? Did she not cover herself with the blanket at night?”
Ning Chanyue’s words didn’t completely convince her mother. But before she could think about how to reply, You Zhuoqing’s voice calling for her mother came from outside the bedroom. Her mother in the room responded, then turned back to tell Ning Chanyue to come eat breakfast later, and then rushed out of the bedroom.
So Ning Chanyue was left alone in the bedroom. She lowered her head to put on her shoes, and her eyes intentionally or unintentionally swept over the spot where You Zhuoqing had sat and fallen asleep yesterday.
…If she had given that blanket to You Zhuoqing yesterday, she wouldn’t have gotten a fever.
But, but…
Ning Chanyue’s gaze toward that spot was a little evasive.
She brought this on herself, didn’t she?
After Ning Chanyue put on her shoes, she turned around and forced her gaze somewhere else, walking to the bedroom door.
But just before she pushed the door open, Ning Chanyue’s steps paused again. As if she had thought of something, she turned around and walked to the bed, lifted the blanket, revealing the light yellow bedsheet, and then picked up the shirt she had just hidden under the blanket with her other hand.
Ning Chanyue bent down and carefully folded the shirt, putting it into the closet.
Then she walked out of the bedroom door again.
“Good morning!”
Perhaps hearing the sound of the door, You Zhuoqing in the kitchen immediately poked her head out and said loudly to Ning Chanyue.
She still looked energetic and full of vitality, holding a spatula and stirring something, not at all like she had a fever.
But uncharacteristically, Ning Chanyue actually responded to You Zhuoqing’s greeting and nodded at her.
Seeing Ning Chanyue respond, You Zhuoqing’s eyes instantly lit up. She put down the spatula and walked a few steps toward Ning Chanyue, as if she wanted to say something to her.
Unfortunately, after speaking to You Zhuoqing, Ning Chanyue had turned around and walked into the bathroom.
She didn’t notice You Zhuoqing’s actions behind her.
But… given You Zhuoqing’s clinginess, she could only avoid her for a short time.
Sure enough, when Ning Chanyue came out of the bathroom again, You Zhuoqing was carrying a plate from the kitchen. Hearing the sound of the bathroom door, You Zhuoqing, who was about to go to the dining room, immediately made a turn and walked in front of Ning Chanyue.
“I made this when I woke up early.” You Zhuoqing said seriously, as if she was waiting for Ning Chanyue’s praise.
Ning Chanyue glanced at the plate You Zhuoqing was holding. On it were many glistening, translucent steamed dumplings, with their juices visible inside.
As expected, You Zhuoqing made these herself, because… she was always so determined to make them for her.
Thinking of this, Ning Chanyue’s eyelashes couldn’t help but tremble.
She remembered a few years ago, when she had just been tricked into You Zhuoqing’s house. She found that no matter how much she tried to soften You Zhuoqing’s heart to let her go, it was useless. In desperation, she went on a hunger strike.
At that time, You Zhuoqing watched the bowls of food that her servants had carefully prepared get heated up and then get cold. Seeing Ning Chanyue’s increasingly sunken cheeks, she had anxiously asked her how she could get her to eat.
She remembered saying that as long as You Zhuoqing let her go, she would eat.
But how could You Zhuoqing agree? No matter how Ning Chanyue argued with her, she still wouldn’t budge.
So Ning Chanyue’s eyes rolled. Looking at the big star and the young lady of the You family who never cooked, she told You Zhuoqing that she would only eat if You Zhuoqing cooked for her personally. She also gave her a few dishes, all of which were extremely difficult to make.
…What was she thinking at the time? She probably thought that since You Zhuoqing was tormenting her so much, she might as well torment her back.
But she didn’t expect You Zhuoqing to be so willing. Since she had spoken, You Zhuoqing would get up early every day and cook for her three meals a day.
Although she never took a single bite.
But… later, after she had starved for five or six days and didn’t even have the strength to get out of bed, You Zhuoqing still didn’t have any intention of taking her to the hospital. She was so hungry that she secretly took a bite of the steamed dumplings You Zhuoqing had made early in the morning and placed on her bedside… But at that time, she still didn’t understand the extent of You Zhuoqing’s control over her. When You Zhuoqing came back at noon that day, she excitedly squatted by the bed and told her that she knew she would like her cooking.
Later, she found out that You Zhuoqing had installed a camera in her room. And not just one, but three.
She really wanted to monitor her all the time.
Thinking of this, Ning Chanyue pursed her lips. She seemed to want to say something, but when she looked up, she saw two unnatural flushes on You Zhuoqing’s face. So her lips, which had just opened, closed again.
Never mind… she wouldn’t argue with a sick person, not to mention she had woken up early to make breakfast. She had also been a lot more restrained lately than before.
So Ning Chanyue just gave You Zhuoqing a cold stare and then brushed past her, saying softly, “Let’s eat.”
But…
“Why are you both staring at me? Eat.”
When Ning Chanyue sat down and picked up a few pieces of food, she seemed to realize something was wrong. She looked up at the two of them and said this.
She saw her mother across the table looking at her with a loving gaze, occasionally moving her chopsticks, while You Zhuoqing… she kept putting food into her bowl. Sometimes, before she could even swallow one bite, the next bite was already being sent up to her mouth.
But You Zhuoqing herself didn’t eat a single bite.
“I made this. You have to finish it all.” You Zhuoqing’s tone had a hint of a command.
But Ning Chanyue was already immune to You Zhuoqing’s crazy talk. She just lifted her eyelids, put a few steamed dumplings into her mother’s bowl, ate a few bites herself, and then wiped her mouth. Finally, she said slowly, “I don’t have an appetite in the morning. I’m full. Mom, you should eat more.”
Then, Ning Chanyue ignored You Zhuoqing’s words, pulled her chair back, and prepared to leave the dining table.
But just as she pushed the chair under the table, You Zhuoqing grabbed her.
She only heard You Zhuoqing say, “Are you going to see Xu Guiyi later? I have something to do, but I’ll come back in the afternoon to go with you.”
“…Do you think that’s appropriate?” The corner of Ning Chanyue’s mouth twitched, and she asked You Zhuoqing in return.
It was one thing that You Zhuoqing had no boundaries with her on a normal day, but she even wanted to enter Xu Guiyi’s house without her permission?
No way.
No matter what, Ning Chanyue would definitely not agree or give in.
But what a coincidence, You Zhuoqing was not a person who would give in easily either. At this moment, her eyes were still firm as she looked at Ning Chanyue. That’s right, she was always incredibly stubborn. It seemed that once she decided to do something, she had to do it, even if it meant drinking poison to quench her thirst and using any means necessary.
“Anyway, I…” You Zhuoqing’s voice was still trailing behind her.
“Bang!”
Having made her stance clear, Ning Chanyue didn’t want to get into any more pointless arguments. She took a few steps forward, closed the bedroom door, and cut off You Zhuoqing’s words.
…Only until a door slammed again a little later, and You Zhuoqing had left, did Ning Chanyue push the door open and walk out of the bedroom again.
“Mom…”
She looked up and saw her mother still sitting at the dining table. She called out to her from a distance.
“Come here, Ningning.” Her mother waved her over.
When Ning Chanyue walked over, her mother grabbed her. But she didn’t say anything for a long time. She didn’t even ask her why she had gotten into a fight with You Zhuoqing again, as she had done the day before.
She just lowered her brows and gently stroked Ning Chanyue’s hands.
For some reason, this silent concern made her feel more uncomfortable than a direct question, after all, she had hidden too much from her mother.
In that instant, Ning Chanyue felt a little flustered.
