The True Record of a Flirty Omega's Failed Balancing Act - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
â—ŽPlease get lostâ—Ž
“Alright, that’s enough.”
Xu Guiyi placed both hands on Ning Chanyue’s cheeks and gently turned her head back. Ning Chanyue obediently turned her head but only raised an eyebrow at Xu Guiyi without saying a word.
Xu Guiyi rubbed Ning Chanyue’s cheeks, which were much thinner than they had been a few years ago. “Did I touch your sensitive spot? It’s been a few years, and I honestly forgot. I only realized it when you moaned. I apologize, okay?”
After she finished speaking, Xu Guiyi tried to lower the hands she had on Ning Chanyue’s face, but just as she was pulling them away, she felt Ning Chanyue’s palm press against the back of her hands.
In an instant, Xu Guiyi’s hands were even more firmly pressed against her own face.
Ning Chanyue selectively ignored Xu Guiyi’s somewhat helpless expression. As she felt the warmth of Xu Guiyi’s palms, she deliberately pouted and said, “Hmph, as long as you know. Don’t let it happen again.”
Xu Guiyi curled her lips and rubbed Ning Chanyue’s cheeks a few more times with her palms. Then she squeezed the fingers of Ning Chanyue that were intertwined with hers, signaling her to let go.
Ning Chanyue, however, tilted her head, pretending not to understand. She even deliberately intertwined her fingers with Xu Guiyi’s, lightly lacing them together.
But when she touched the thin calluses on the side of Xu Guiyi’s index finger, she was momentarily stunned.
Xu Guiyi’s fingers were, in her memory, as white and soft as jade. How could so many calluses have grown on them after just a few years?
But when her eyes met Xu Guiyi’s again and she saw the undeniable exhaustion in them, she seemed to have found the answer.
So, in the end, she let go of Xu Guiyi’s hands.
She had finally seen Xu Guiyi, she couldn’t cause her any more trouble.
Xu Guiyi put her hands back in her pocket, took out a set of keys, and lowered her head to remove one of them. She handed it to Ning Chanyue and said, “You should go back first. I have to go to the front desk to find the nurse. I’ll probably stay here with my sister overnight. You’re still in your heat, and the pheromones of the people coming and going here are bound to be unstable. Besides, you have a promotion first thing in the morning, so don’t rest too late.”
Xu Guiyi voluntarily handing her the key was a luxury Ning Chanyue would never have dared to dream of a day ago. But at this moment, she didn’t take it immediately. She paused and said, “Don’t you have to go to school tomorrow morning? What about your sister? Should I hire a nurse to help…”
“No, you don’t. You don’t need to worry about me. This has happened more than once or twice, I can handle it,” Xu Guiyi interrupted Ning Chanyue’s concerned words. She helped her pull up the mask on her chin and added, “Let’s go. Why are you looking at me with such a reluctant expression? Go back and get some good rest.”
Ning Chanyue bit her lip but didn’t say anything more. She stood on her tiptoes and gently kissed Xu Guiyi’s cheek through the mask.
As her toes returned to the floor, Xu Guiyi also gave Ning Chanyue’s slightly upturned nose a reassuring pinch through the mask.
Only then did Ning Chanyue take the key from Xu Guiyi’s hand and say, “Then… you go find the nurse first. I’ll watch over your sister for a bit, and I’ll leave when you get back.”
Ning Chanyue and Xu Guiyi left the bathroom together. As the ward door closed again and Xu Guiyi’s back was gradually swallowed by the crowd in the hallway outside the window, Ning Chanyue finally withdrew her gaze. She sat down by her sister’s bed alone. Her sister was still sound asleep, occasionally smiling a few times. She didn’t know what kind of beautiful dream she was having. Ning Chanyue’s thoughts also began to wander, as if she was still replaying the intimate moment that had just passed.
If there weren’t so many complicated things in this world and it was just the two of them, that would be wonderful.
Ning Chanyue rested her chin on her hand, her thoughts drifting. Until…
Until a polite knock on the door suddenly pulled Ning Chanyue back to reality. She looked up and saw that the person outside had already pushed open the ward door.
The person seemed extremely anxious. She was breathing heavily, and a cold sweat beaded on her forehead. It wasn’t until her eyes met Ning Chanyue’s that she suddenly let out a sigh of relief.
However, when her gaze moved past Ning Chanyue and landed on the sister in the hospital bed, her pupils constricted.
“Who is this? Is this Xu Guiyi’s sister… Xu Pei’an, as it says on the medical record at the front desk?”
The person spoke very slowly, her voice filled with disbelief.
But Ning Chanyue suddenly stood up, ignoring the screeching sound of the chair. She took a few large steps forward, grabbed the person’s wrist, and tried to pull her away.
She lowered her voice and said, “You Zhuoqing, what are you doing here?”
But no matter how much she pulled, You Zhuoqing seemed to be using all her strength and stood still.
After a while, You Zhuoqing grabbed Ning Chanyue’s wrist, applied some force, and pulled her back.
You Zhuoqing’s expression was already tinged with anger. She frowned tightly, paused for a few seconds, and then said in a low voice, “Ningning, when I saw your signature on Xu Pei’an’s payment form at the front desk, I still didn’t believe it. I stubbornly thought something had happened to you. It wasn’t until I saw that child lying in bed… Heh, you and Xu Guiyi met, right?”
You Zhuoqing wore a pure black baseball cap, which made the look in her eyes even more sinister.
Ning Chanyue gritted her teeth and said each word slowly, “What does it have to do with you, You, Zhuo, qing.”
You Zhuoqing’s anxiety from taking a taxi and her fatigue from running seemed to disappear when she heard Ning Chanyue’s words.
She laughed out of extreme anger, ripped off her mask, and stared at Ning Chanyue with narrowed eyes. Then, in a fit of rage, she crumpled the mask into a ball and threw it on the floor.
She took two steps forward, and her warm breath spread across Ning Chanyue’s face. The proximity made Ning Chanyue uncomfortably turn her head, but only a second later, You Zhuoqing grabbed her chin and forced it back, making Ning Chanyue look directly at her.
This again. Ning Chanyue frowned and slapped away the hand that was touching her.
Disgusting.
Ning Chanyue reminded You Zhuoqing, “This is a hospital. You’re a celebrity, watch your image.”
“Watch my image?” You Zhuoqing sneered and said, “Watch my image means letting you cheat here? And with that third wheel?”
Who was the third wheel?
Ning Chanyue opened her mouth to speak but in the end, she took a deep breath and said nothing.
She didn’t want to argue with this person. All she wanted… was for this person to leave quickly.
But Ning Chanyue’s silence only made the anger in You Zhuoqing’s eyes more intense. Her face sank. She poked Ning Chanyue’s heart with her finger and continued, “Ningning, do you even have a heart? I called you more than a dozen times, and you didn’t answer. I even saw the bank transfer you made to the hospital. I thought something had happened to you, and I rushed to the hospital in a panic, only to find you here having an affair with her!”
You Zhuoqing’s expression was full of indignation, and her voice wasn’t quiet, attracting the attention of many patients around them.
Those people were looking at the two of them gossiping. Some had their phones out, ready to record, while others were whispering in small groups.
Would Xu Guiyi be among them?
This bold guess made Ning Chanyue’s hands clench unconsciously. She lowered her voice and said quickly, “There are a lot of people here, and people are recording. If you don’t want to be on the trending topics tomorrow, let’s talk somewhere else.”
But You Zhuoqing was in a fit of rage. How could she easily give in to Ning Chanyue? She saw through Ning Chanyue’s thoughts at a glance and said in a firm tone, “Screw you. Don’t think I don’t know you’re afraid Xu Guiyi will find out. I’m going to meet her here today.”
Ning Chanyue rubbed her skin, which was sore from You Zhuoqing’s poking. The voices of the people around them were getting louder, and the crowd was getting bigger. If they looked closely, they might even see the slight sweat on Ning Chanyue’s forehead.
But the more you worry about something, the faster it seems to happen.
