Episode 110: A Relaxing Home
We returned from the neighboring continent to the port town of Beaumont. From there, we then headed straight for the royal capital.
We’d had more than enough of sea travel. I wanted to go home and relax as soon as possible. And then, I wanted to take a bath slowly together with Lilia. With my mind full of impure thoughts, I headed to the Nagomi Inn in the royal capital.
“I’m back.”
“Welcome home, Fel-san, Lilia-sama.”
“I’m ba~ack. I brought souvenirs. Ah, but since you’re from the neighboring continent, it might not be that unusual for you.”
“No, no, not at all. I haven’t been back in decades, after all.”
The innkeeper welcomed us with a smile. Her eyes were narrowing warmly. Even though we stayed in similar-style inns on the other continent, nothing beats an inn where we have our own room.
I handed over the rice crackers as souvenirs. When I asked over there what would make a good gift, I was recommended these rice crackers because they keep well.
Though, since we have a magic bag, there’s not much worry about food going bad anyway.
“These bring back memories. I used to eat them often. Over here, they cost about five times as much. I couldn’t bring myself to buy them at that price. Thank you.”
“They’re crispy and delicious, aren’t they?”
Seems Lilia really likes the texture when eating them. That’s why we bought a bunch and put them in the magic bag. They go really well with the green tea served at the inn.
The room we were shown to was almost the same as before we left on our journey. Every corner had been thoroughly cleaned. There were also plenty of floor cushions.
Once we confirmed the innkeeper had left, I called out Pii-chan and Kagetora.
“Looks like we arrived safely.”
“Thank you for your hard work on the journey.”
“Kagetora, you still speak in such a unique way, huh?”
According to Kagetora, it’s a traditional way of speaking from long ago. It was shocked to find out that no one in the port town of Suiren spoke like that. It then declared proudly, “I shall continue using it to uphold tradition.”
Seems like Kagetora is pretty hard-headed. If you keep that up, you’ll get left behind by the times.
I flopped onto the tatami floor. Its firm yet soft feel wrapped around my body.
“Once we drop off our luggage, we’re supposed to gather in the lounge, right?”
“That’s right.”
Lilia asked while rolling around on the tatami just like me. Pii-chan and the others were watching us from the table. Not joining in? That’s a shame.
“Are we going to talk about what’s next?”
“Yeah. We talked a bit on the ship, but didn’t decide anything clearly. What we’ve got for now is: ‘Check on the progress of the airship construction’ and ‘Request creation of mithril equipment for Ardan.’ We’ll have to ask Rugald-san, so we need to go speak with him soon. Making equipment takes time, after all.”
“Hmm, it seems there are swordsmiths on this continent too. Let us see what they can do first.”
Kagetora laughed with a “Fufufu.”
What are you even competing with? Maybe it’s interested in weapons? But with those hands, I don’t think it can hold one… maybe it’ll use its feet?
I wasn’t going to get any answers just thinking about it. So I changed into comfortable clothes and headed to the lounge.
I changed from the wizard robe I wear when going out to more commoner-style clothes. Lilia started changing too, copying me. That’s fine, but that black underwear is a bit too mature, don’t you think?
Sure, her chest has been growing lately and she’s starting to give off more of an adult vibe. But she’s still a kid.
Of course, she’d get mad if I said that to her face.
“Aniki, if you stare too hard at Boss lady’s butt like that, you’ll get scolded.”
“Shh! Master Pii-chan, if you don’t say anything, the princess won’t notice. Don’t take away the lord’s little secret joy.”
Hey, you guys!
Lilia turned her face this way while covering her butt.
She’s mad!
“Hey, you two?”
“We’re so sorry!”
I immediately got on my knees and bowed in apology. Of course, Pii-chan and Kagetora did the same.
When we got to the lounge, Ardan and the others were already there.
But… they looked confused as they saw us.
What’s going on?
“Sorry, are we late?”
“It’s okay, no problem. …….…More importantly, are you okay?”
“What do you mean?”
Somehow, the three of them looked pale.
It was as if something really bad had happened.
Lilia and I had no idea what was going on and tilted our heads in confusion.
“Well, just now, there was this incredible killing intent coming from Fel’s room. We were wondering if something had happened~”
Jill said that hesitantly, trying not to make eye contact with us.
Ah—maybe some killing intent leaked from Lilia?
I was too distracted to even notice that.
“It’s fine. Just a little accident, that’s all.”
“I-I see… Lilia-chan, are you okay? Fel didn’t turn into a wolf or anything, did he?”
“No, no! I mean, he kind of turned into an inchworm though.”
“Inchworm?”
Elise tilted her head repeatedly.
This conversation had to end here.
It would be really bad if the part about me staring at Lilia’s plump butt came out.
Pretending like nothing happened, I took drinks out of the magic bag and set them on the table.
Then, we began talking about what to do next.
“I’m thinking we take a few days off. Well, we’ll probably want to move again pretty soon, though.”
“Got it. In the meantime, let’s have Rugald-san make the mithril equipment.”
“Yeah, let’s do that. Fel, do you need a weapon too?”
A mithril weapon, huh.
As a wizard, I probably don’t need one.
Even if I had one, it’d just be wasted.
I’ve never even heard of a mithril staff before.
No way a weak little wizard could carry something that heavy.
“I don’t need one. What about you, Elise?”
“Let’s see… I might want a mithril tact.”
“Mithril tact?”
“Oh my, Fel, you don’t know?”
According to Elise, any short staff made of heavy metal is called a “tact”.
Normally, wizards use long wooden staffs. So you wouldn’t usually see them in weapon shops.
But among certain nobles or rich people, it seems they carry tacts in their pockets for self-defense.
“So, there’s staves like that, huh. Well, I can use magic even without a staff. So I don’t really need one either way.”
“Yeah. In your case, having a staff actually weakens your magic.”
“More than that, I don’t think there’s a staff in existence that could withstand Aniki’s magic.”
“With the lord’s power, any staff would be completely shattered the moment he cast a spell.”
The three of them laughed loudly.
Hey, don’t treat me like I’m some kind of monster.
Look, Ardan and the other two are all tense-faced now.
I’m not scary, okay?
Why is no one backing me up?
“Alright then, we don’t have to think about something for Fel. But if there’s anything else that could be a substitute, is there anything you need?”
“Nothing in particular. But rather than something for me, I’d like to give something to Lilia. Lilia, is there anything you want?”
“Something I want…”
She folded her arms and started thinking.
Seeing how nothing came to mind right away, it seems I haven’t let her live in discomfort.
That was a relief.
I pulled Lilia into a hug and patted her head.
“It’s fine whenever you think of something. I’ll be waiting, always.”
“How sweet.” “So sweet.”
Elise and Jill gave us cold stares, but I didn’t care.
I was going to create a world for just me and Lilia!
