The Ultimate Sage Who Faked Incompetence and Was Disinherited Just Wants to Enjoy His New Life! - Episode 36: Relocation
Episode 36: Relocation
The audience with His Majesty the King ended without incident. And I managed to return to Count Hauzinha’s mansion before dinner.
After the King left, I had to exchange greetings with the high-ranking officials and nobles present. Thanks to Count Hauzinha’s assistance, I avoided any major problems. But the whole ordeal was exhausting.
While sipping tea in the salon of the count’s mansion, I expressed my gratitude for his help during the audience.
“Count Hauzinha, thank you for your assistance. Thanks to you, I was able to get through the audience without any trouble.”
“Think nothing of it. I hardly did anything. So, what do you plan to do next?”
“Well… I’m thinking of moving my base to the royal capital for now. I want to be promoted to Platinum rank.”
“I see.”
Only the Adventurers’ Guild in the royal capital has the authority to promote adventurers to Platinum Rank. This means that achieving it requires solid skills and accomplishments. That’s why I decided to stay in the capital for the time being.
Additionally, Platinum Rank quests can only be accepted at the royal capital’s Adventurers’ Guild.
“I suppose we can’t really turn this place into an inn…….”
“I greatly appreciate the thought, but it would be too conspicuous. And the guild is quite far from here.”
“Ah, I see. That makes sense.”
Count Hauzinha looked genuinely disappointed. Even if I dressed properly, having an adventurer wandering around the noble district would stand out too much.
Besides, there was also Lilia to consider. I wouldn’t want her to attract the unwanted attention of some noble.
For those reasons, I decided to stay at Count Hauzinha’s mansion only for tonight. Starting tomorrow, I would search for a place to stay in the capital.
Dinner was a grand feast—one could even call it a banquet. It was held to celebrate my newly earned title as Dragon Slayer. Naturally, Sancho-san was also present.
As we ate, we wished each other success in our future endeavors.

The next morning.
After finishing breakfast, I took my leave from Count Hauzinha’s mansion and headed straight to the Adventurers’ Guild in the royal capital. I likely wouldn’t be stepping into the noble district again anytime soon.
The moment I left, I felt as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. It seemed I had been unconsciously tense the whole time.
“After the guild, we need to find an inn.”
“Yeah. Where should we look? If only there were guides for hire like in Everan City.”
“In a city this big, there must be some. Oh, look, there it is!”
Lilia pointed ahead, where the Adventurers’ Guild came into view.
Even though it was already late in the morning, the place was bustling with people. That showed just how many adventurers were based in the royal capital.
I had heard that the royal capital’s guild received requests from all over the kingdom. Many of these quests also offered high rewards. They attracted adventurers in search of lucrative jobs.
Avoiding the crowd, I made my way to the reception counter.
Lilia remained visible beside me. Since my audience with the King yesterday, I had become a Dragon Slayer. It was only a matter of time before word of that spread throughout the guild. And if the rumor that the Dragon Slayer traveled with a Fairy took hold, people would likely think twice before bothering us.
“Excuse me, I’d like to inquire about rank promotion.”
“Let’s see… You’re Fel-san, correct? The Dragon Slayer?”
“Yes, that’s me—Fel.”
Good. It seemed my information had already reached the guild. I had never seen any other adventurer with a Fairy companion. So I was easy to recognize.
“Nice to meet you. My name is Clarisse. I look forward to working with you.”
“Likewise.”
She was a human woman wearing glasses. Her figure looked quite good. She seemed like she would be popular. Behind her, other guild staff members were watching us from a distance.
“So… you were asking about rank promotion, correct? Fel-san, you have received approval from the guild master for your promotion to Platinum Rank. I will process it immediately. Please present your adventurer’s card.”
Following her instructions, I handed over my adventurer’s card. This meant I had officially become one of the highest-ranked adventurers in the Fortune Kingdom. It hadn’t even been a year since I became an adventurer. Yet, I had already reached the top. This was all thanks to Lilia teaching me magic.
While waiting for the procedure to be completed, I browsed the request board. I could feel the eyes of other adventurers on me—they must have overheard my conversation with the guild staff.
“We’re getting a lot of attention.”
“Yeah. But it’ll settle down soon. There are other Platinum Rank adventurers, after all. Look at this—there are Platinum Rank requests. Let’s see… collecting rare alchemy materials from the Demon Realm? That sounds tough.”
Other requests included harvesting materials from rare creatures, destroying an Ogre nest, and subjugating monsters that had appeared in a mine. If these requests were being assigned to Platinum Rank adventurers, they were bound to be extremely difficult.
As I continued scanning the board, I heard my name being called. It seemed the process was complete. So I returned to the reception counter.
“Thank you for waiting. Here is your Platinum Rank adventurer’s card.”
The card I received was made of gold and silver. The two metals blended diagonally in the center. It was specially processed to be quite sturdy and resistant to bending.
“Thank you very much.”
“Would you like to accept a request right away?”
“No, today we plan to explore more of the royal capital. We haven’t seen everything yet.”
With that, we left the Adventurers’ Guild. We had explored about a quarter of the city before, which meant three-quarters remained. Even with a guide, it would be impossible to see everything in one day. I decided to take my time.
“Next, we need to find an inn. It’s best to stay close to the guild. So we should start searching in this area.”
“Yeah. But since most inns around here are probably full, we’ll likely have to stay a bit farther away.”
“Oh! I think I found an information center!”
“Alright, let’s check it out.”
At the information center, we paid a small fee to get recommendations for inns. The suggested inn was a little far from here. But it was still within a reasonable distance from the guild.
When we arrived at the recommended location, we found that the area was essentially a district for adventurers’ inns. It seemed to be where those who couldn’t secure lodging closer to the guild gathered. Among the options, we were directed to an inn that was slightly more expensive. But it was known for attracting well-mannered adventurers.
The inn was a wooden building. According to what we were told, it was built in a style commonly seen in the East. Something about it gave me the feeling that sound would easily travel through the walls…
The name of the inn was written in large letters: “Nagomi.” That was an unusual name.
“Excuse me, we heard about this place at the information center. Do you have any available rooms?”
“Welcome. Will you be staying alone?”
“Um, including my Fairy companion, there are two of us.”
“A Fairy… I see. Then I will prepare a two-person room for you.”
The staff member flipped through the pages of a register. The inn’s entrance wasn’t particularly large. But maybe the building had a deeper layout than it appeared.
“Hey, do you think the noise level will be okay? If it’s too loud, I won’t be able to stand it.”
“You don’t need to worry about that. All rooms are equipped with soundproof magic tools.”
“Soundproof magic tools?”
“Yes. With them, no sound from inside the room will leak out.”
So, such magic tools existed. I had been thinking I’d use soundproof magic if necessary. But it looked like that wouldn’t be needed. Satisfied with the answer, we nodded, and the staff led us to our room.
“This will be your room. It comes with a private toilet and bath, which you may use freely. Instructions on how to use the facilities are written here.”
The staff handed me something resembling a menu board. Which apparently contained details about all the amenities available in the room. I’d go through it later.
“Please enjoy your stay.”
“Thank you.”
The room had flooring made of something called tatami. It was another feature from the East. The walls were plain white, and the room dividers were made of wooden frames and paper. That caught me off guard.
I hadn’t expected the room to come with a bath. For a place that cost two small gold coins per night, it certainly lived up to its price.
