- Chapter 10 - I Can't Get Married!
I wavered between wanting Al to touch me more and being the bride of As’ad, and I felt completely torn.
Still, I found the courage and told Al the truth. I told him I was As’ad Al-Aziz’s bride. Maybe Al would be angry and throw me back out into the desert.
But Al’s eyes widened, and then he broke into a bold smile. It was nothing like what I had expected. I was flustered. I thought he would yell, but that wasn’t the case.
“Oh? Do you think I don’t like you, Yuzu?”
“You—because… Al doesn’t… care about me…”

“I will take you away from As’ad. You will be my bride.”
“—Al…?”
I had been so stunned I forgot to use any honorific. The dim light of the bath made Al’s fierce face gleam, almost sensuously.
A few days ago, I could never have imagined this. I was unlucky already, but I never expected to be fighting for my life in a vast desert nation. The man who saved me had once aimed a sword at me — but now he was saying the most impossible thing.
“You will be my bride.”
Then Al pressed his warm lips to mine.
