The Unlucky Bride Is Loved by the Fortunate Desert King - Chapter 26 – Anomaly
The Thousand and One Nights Festival—Alf Layla wa Layla—was nearing its end.
After performing the sword dance, Asaad took a brief moment to look around the plaza.
Then, he noticed something strange.
Yuzu—who had definitely been in his line of sight just moments ago—was gone.
Even though it was cold, the sword dance was intense. While wiping off his sweat, Asaad spoke shortly to Ishaq, who handed him a towel.
“Where is Yuzu?”
“Lady Yuzu?”
“She was right there, in the crowd at the center, just a while ago. But now, she’s gone.”
Ishaq, offering him a bottle of mineral water, looked confused.
“Could it be that she just stepped away for a bit, or perhaps returned to the stall?”
“I don’t know. But I have a bad feeling. Yuzu said she was looking forward to seeing me dressed as a priest. She wouldn’t leave for no reason.”
“But still…” The festival was still ongoing. Ishaq was involved in managing the entire ceremony, so he couldn’t just leave to check on her himself.
“Send someone to check the stalls immediately. I hope it’s just me worrying too much.”
Ishaq’s face turned pale.
As with Asaad’s luck, his sixth sense was rarely wrong.
“Understood. I’ll send someone at once.”
Calling a few guards, Ishaq quickly ordered them to head for the market area.
“Yuzu… where on earth did you go?”
Right now, Asaad wanted to rip off the jeweled keffiyeh on his head and rush out to make sure she was safe.
But his father—the man whose features mirrored his own—was watching him from afar.
Around them, foreign dignitaries surrounded the area. He couldn’t possibly ignore them.
(Damn it!)
What kind of king was he? What kind of groom?
He couldn’t even properly protect the one bride who mattered most to him.
