The Unmarried Omega Falls into Being a Wife - Chapter 20
Gu Pei didn’t shy away and, right in front of Lin Gaoyuan, held Lin Xunye’s hand.
“You two called me over today I’ve already heard from A-Ye. The investment was agreed upon from the start, and I won’t go back on my word. After all, without you two, I wouldn’t have met A-Ye.”
Without them, I wouldn’t have ended up really marrying Gu Pei, Lin Xunye silently added in his heart.
Gu Pei’s body heat passed through their clasped hands, spreading through Lin Xunye’s entire body. He tried to pull his hand back, but Gu Pei didn’t let go and instead rested his palm on Lin Xunye’s thigh.
Lin Xunye thought about brushing it off, but reconsidered. After all, he was using him right now it would seem petty to not even let him rest a leg on him. So, he didn’t move again.
Gu Pei sensed Lin Xunye’s compliance, and his expression relaxed slightly.
The food arrived one after another, but the negotiation wasn’t over yet.
Right after Gu Pei spoke, Lin Gaoyuan chimed in, “Dear son-in-law, as you know, the company’s been facing some difficulties. Would you be able to lend us a bit more support?”
He even deliberately tapped his cane, worried Gu Pei wouldn’t notice that he was limping.
But what Lin Gaoyuan didn’t know was that he’d already been exposed the moment he walked in.
During the month Gu Pei pretended to be in a vegetative state, in order to make it believable, he studied how patients move when they just regain consciousness including behaviors of people with fractures.
To Gu Pei, Lin Gaoyuan’s little tricks were child’s play.
But he didn’t call it out.
Under Lin Gaoyuan’s expectant gaze, Gu Pei took Lin Xunye’s hand again and placed it openly on the table.
“That depends on what A-Ye wants.”
Lin Xunye, caught off guard, didn’t react in time.
He looked at Gu Pei, confused, questioning him with his eyes.
Gu Pei stared into his eyes and spoke firmly, “A-Ye, do you want to be involved in the company’s projects?”
Lin Xunye had no interest in that. He declined outright. “No.”
Lin Gaoyuan switched to his patriarch mode, slamming his cane, “Xiao Ye! Is that any way to talk to President Gu?”
Lin Xunye didn’t hold back, “Why don’t you call him ‘dear son-in-law’ anymore?”
Lin Gaoyuan was so choked up that he couldn’t catch his breath, clutching his chest and wheezing like an old bellows.
Lin Youjia quickly rushed over to help him, casting a condemning look at Lin Xunye, “How could you talk like that to”
But the moment his eyes met Gu Pei’s, Lin Youjia shut up immediately.
After being “properly dealt with” by Gu Pei once, his back still hurt.
The atmosphere in the living room froze.
Lin Xunye withdrew his hand from Gu Pei’s palm, but Gu Pei’s thigh shifted left, pressing against Lin Xunye’s parted leg.
Lin Xunye looked at him. Gu Pei looked back.
Lin Xunye: …
Gu Pei: “Hmm.”
Lin Xunye turned away and looked out the window.
He was generous. He wouldn’t stoop to the level of a scoundrel.
After putting on an act for a while, and realizing no one other than Lin Youjia was reacting, Lin Gaoyuan sat up straighter.
His tone softened, seemingly compromising: “Dear”
Lin Xunye’s expressionless stare cut him off. His emotionless gaze made Lin Gaoyuan shudder.
This son of his… had changed too much.
Lin Gaoyuan lowered his voice and quickly corrected himself, “President Gu, when will the investment be transferred?”
Gu Pei casually tapped the table. When he stopped, he delivered the killing blow:
“The investment won’t change.”
He paused, observing Lin Gaoyuan’s reaction. When Lin Gaoyuan said, “That’s good,” Gu Pei continued:
“But the form will be different.”
Lin Gaoyuan didn’t understand what he meant, but Gu Pei’s sharp gaze made it impossible to ask.
Gu Pei looked at Lin Xunye and enunciated clearly:
“A portion of the investment will be transferred to A-Ye in the form of shares. The remaining part will be wired to your accounts on schedule.”
This struck at Lin Gaoyuan’s core.
“Xiao Ye is still just a kid! How can he be given that much money? President Gu, this is irregular. Xiao Ye is already married to you he’s an outsider now how can you… how can you…”
His voice faded as he spoke.
Gu Pei’s eyes were too intimidating. When they swept over him, not only did he shut up, even Lin Youjia lowered his head.
Gu Pei was not someone easy to negotiate with.
Once he made a decision, he rarely changed it unless it concerned principles. And even fewer people could bargain with him.
Lin Xunye was the first.
But Lin Xunye didn’t know this side of Gu Pei. After going abroad, he hadn’t deliberately followed domestic news. Occasionally, he’d catch glimpses from the headlines, but he wouldn’t stop to read.
His only source of information about Gu Pei was Xu Qian.
But Xu Qian only ever shared baseless gossip.
So after spending time with Gu Pei in person, Lin Xunye subconsciously believed the version of him he saw.
The atmosphere turned completely somber. Lin Gaoyuan shakily lifted his cane but didn’t bring it down.
When Lin Xunye finished counting the 99th tulip in the garden outside the window, Lin Gaoyuan finally broke the silence.
“I I can accept it.”
“But I request that our share of the funds be transferred immediately.”
Gu Pei knew this was Lin Gaoyuan’s final bottom line.
In front of the three of them, he made a phone call. Two minutes after he hung up, Lin Gaoyuan’s phone rang.
He glanced at Gu Pei, then shifted his gaze to Lin Xunye.
Lin Xunye was still looking out the window, seemingly focused on something. Lin Gaoyuan’s eyes drifted down, from the elaborately carved table to the screen of his phone. When he saw the message that the funds had been received, he finally let out a breath of relief.
Lin Xunye also exhaled quietly.
He had no idea what was wrong with Gu Pei today his thigh, wrapped in suit pants, was constantly touching his own.
It wasn’t uncomfortable. Just unfamiliar.
When they left the Lin household, Gu Pei opened the car door for Lin Xunye.
Lin Xunye stood beside the door and stared at Gu Pei for a while.
Gu Pei’s expression was neutral, but the firm line of his lips clearly said: This isn’t up for discussion.
Sticking to his rule of not stooping to the level of a scoundrel, Lin Xunye got in, half-closing his eyes and pretending to sleep.
Gu Pei walked to the driver’s side. He had one hand in his pocket, his long legs straight and tense.
His gaze was calm but firm, locked on the passenger side as if it could pierce through the car, staring directly at Lin Xunye.
Inside the car, Lin Xunye waited and waited, but Gu Pei didn’t get in. Losing patience, he unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned over the center console, and reached for the driver’s door.
The door suddenly opened from the outside.
Bathed in the sunlight, Lin Xunye squinted from the sudden brightness. Gu Pei was crouched slightly, his arm resting on the car, leaning in until their faces were nearly touching.
“Waiting for me?” he asked.
Gu Pei’s lips moved only a few centimeters from Lin Xunye’s own. The sudden proximity made Lin Xunye momentarily dazed. He reflexively denied, “No. Just enjoying the sun.”
Gu Pei clearly didn’t believe him.
But he didn’t press it.
Kids are easy to rile up better to go with the grain.
“Got it. I’ll get a convertible next time,” Gu Pei flicked Lin Xunye’s forehead with a finger.
Lin Xunye instantly recoiled like a cat stung by electricity.
Gu Pei pressed his lips together, nearly smiling but held back. If he laughed now, the little kitten glaring at him would definitely lash out.
“When are you moving in with me?” Gu Pei turned the steering wheel, driving into a familiar alley.
Lin Xunye was still sulking over the forehead flick, his tone prickly: “I don’t know.”
Gu Pei lightly stepped on the gas, and the car shot forward.
Caught off guard, Lin Xunye lurched forward. The seatbelt yanked him back into place.
He turned, glaring. “You did that on purpose!”
Gu Pei calmly stopped the car, looking at him. “Accident.”
Lin Xunye gave a dry laugh, barely restraining the urge to punch him.
Scoundrel.
Not getting his way, Lin Xunye didn’t bother arguing. He wasn’t like Lin Youjia, who seemed to enjoy getting scolded.
He unbuckled his seatbelt, but as soon as he reached for the door, Gu Pei pulled it shut again with one arm.
Gu Pei’s arm was now right in front of him.
In the cramped car, one tilt of Lin Xunye’s head brought him face-to-face with Gu Pei’s jawline. When he looked up, he saw every inch of Gu Pei’s perfect, masculine face.
Even from the unflattering angle below, Gu Pei still looked unrealistically handsome.
Gu Pei’s arm tensed. Lin Xunye glanced down, catching the outline of firm muscles beneath the suit. Even the lines of his arm under the fabric were easy to picture.
“Today, then. We both have time,” Gu Pei’s voice slipped into his ears, smooth and persuasive.
No extra words he made the decision with ease.
Lin Xunye wanted to protest, but the moment Gu Pei leaned in and touched their foreheads together, he couldn’t speak.
Gu Pei’s pupils were like whirlpools dominant and irresistible.
They were close, yet Lin Xunye couldn’t smell his pheromones. Only a faint citrusy fragrance like perfume.
Gu Pei whispered again, coaxing, “I’ve agreed to so many of your conditions. Shouldn’t A-Ye give me something in return?”
His warmth passed through their touching foreheads. Lin Xunye stammered, unable to speak.
Gu Pei saw it all, and finally added fuel to the fire: “It’s okay if you don’t want to… but…”
He didn’t finish but Lin Xunye knew exactly what that implied.
After three seconds of hesitation, Lin Xunye gave in. “Fine. Today it is. Who’s afraid of you?”
Gu Pei moved back and opened the door for him. “I am.”
Lin Xunye jumped out of the car, rubbed his head hard, messing up his hair and tugging up his shirt, exposing his waist dimples.
Lin Xunye’s waist dimples were special.
On the left side, he had a red mole Gu Pei had kissed it many times during his heat cycles.
The right side didn’t have a mole, but the dimple was deeper. When Gu Pei gripped that firm, narrow waist, his fingers would sink into it.
It felt… unforgettable.
But Lin Xunye had no idea.
He never checked his whole body in the mirror. The only time he looked in one was when putting on his lip piercing.
He got that after having his first dream went straight to a tattoo parlor and stared at their ad for ten minutes. Finally, under the staff’s hopeful gaze, he said three words:
“I want a lip ring.”
He still remembered how disappointed the staff looked he did seem like the kind of guy who’d get a tattoo.
Sensing someone watching him, Lin Xunye dropped his hand and shoved it back in his pocket.
Gu Pei pinched the bridge of his nose and rubbed the steering wheel like he was holding something back.
