The Unmarried Omega Falls into Being a Wife - Chapter 26
“Brother, are you lying to me?”
Xu Qian took a sip of alcohol, his face still streaked with tears.
Lin Xunye tore open a new pack of tissues and handed it to him. “Stop crying. There may not be a three legged Alpha out there, but there are plenty of two-legged Omegas. Worst case, you can date a Beta.”
“Maybe your true love is a Beta.”
Xu Qian soaked the tissues with his endless tears. He blew his nose and cried, trying to hug Lin Xunye. Lin Xunye leaned back to avoid his outstretched arms.
“Chin up. If you keep crying, I’ll punch you.”
That worked. Xu Qian stopped crying.
Because he knew Lin Xunye would actually hit him.
Xu Qian mumbled a bunch of stuff about true love conquering all, then asked, “Brother, is his pheromone really that bad?”
Lin Xunye repeated what he had said all day and night, “It’s pretty bad. Not your type.”
Hearing that, Xu Qian started crying again.
Lin Xunye leaned back in his chair with a headache, no longer in the mood to comfort him. Of all things, why go for online dating? Just begging to get scammed?
He didn’t say it aloud. Xu Qian was currently more fragile than a frost bitten cabbage. If he added salt to the wound now, Xu Qian might cry till the sun came up.
Suddenly, Xu Qian looked up and asked, “Brother, do you have feelings for Gu Pei? You haven’t cursed him at all.”
Lin Xunye’s forehead veins popped. He gritted his teeth, “When have I ever cursed him?”
“Your tone! You used to sound so annoyed. You didn’t say it outright, but your whole vibe screamed you couldn’t stand Gu Pei.”
Lin Xunye: “…”
“Don’t overthink it. I’d never fall for an arranged-marriage Alpha.”
Xu Qian made an “ah” sound, just about to ask something else when Lin Xunye clamped a hand over his mouth: “Say one more word and you’re the stinkiest Alpha ever.”
Immediately, Xu Qian cried again.
Luckily, he recovered quickly. After a short sob, he stopped crying and even managed to ask, “Where’s Li Ye? Why isn’t he here yet?”
Lin Xunye brushed it off, “No idea. Why don’t you go check outside? Take it as a mood boost.”
Who knew, the moment Lin Xunye said it, Xu Qian burst into tears again. “Brother, you’re so mean. I’m already miserable, and you want me to go walk around like a clown!”
Lin Xunye: “…”
He sighed and got up. “Fine, fine, I’ll go. You sit here and drink. Don’t go crying to strangers.”
He’d seen how outgoing Xu Qian could be. There were times after a breakup when he’d grab a stranger and start crying, making the poor passerby so embarrassed they’d end up comforting him.
Eventually, both of them would be crying by the roadside.
Lin Xunye didn’t want a repeat of that scene.
Too shocking his fragile heart couldn’t take it.
That night, the bar was unusually packed. After bumping into six people, Lin Xunye finally made it to the entrance.
He followed Li Ye’s directions toward a temporary parking spot near the bar. He waited a while but didn’t see Li Ye just Yu Ji and that blue-haired guy he’d fought with before.
Without hesitation, Lin Xunye gave chase.
On the other side, Yu Ji was complaining to Gu Pei: “Seriously, what are your thoughts? My little budding romance just withered.”
Gu Pei replied coldly, “I don’t know.”
Getting no comfort, Yu Ji gave up. He tilted his head back 45 degrees to look at the sky, eyes a little sore.
Had he known it would end like this, he never would’ve tried online dating.
At first, it was just curiosity then he actually started chatting with someone. During their conversations, Yu Ji found out the other person’s name was Xu Qian, and he was the owner of the city’s biggest bar.
Yu Ji had hoped it was just a coincidence, but after Xu Qian rattled off his entire family tree, he gave up hope.
The person he was dating online was Xu Qian.
Yu Ji was an Alpha. So was Xu Qian. He originally intended to tell the truth, but Xu Qian was convinced Yu Ji was a vanilla-scented Omega probably because of Yu Ji’s profile picture, which had a vanilla ice cream cone.
Xu Qian had made up his mind, and no amount of explaining could change it.
Left with no choice, Yu Ji went along with it.
Then, earlier that afternoon, Lin Xunye had tracked down a salon Yu Ji had once mentioned to Xu Qian.
He had been extremely nervous.
In the end, things still fell apart his ginger scented pheromones leaked out a little, Lin Xunye picked it up, and told Xu Qian.
Since then, he and Xu Qian had been in a six-hour cold war.
“Life, man…”
Yu Ji had only sung three words before he froze.
He nudged Gu Pei. “Your wife’s here.”
Gu Pei lit a cigarette, took a drag, and didn’t take him seriously.
Heartbroken people aren’t exactly rational.
He exhaled and was about to take another puff when a silver bullet shot over and snatched the cigarette away.
Gu Pei looked over and his heart skipped a beat.
Lin Xunye, with a dangerous glint in his eye and a creepy smile, snuffed out the cigarette with his bare fingers.
The glowing tip vanished in the dark. Lin Xunye seemed unfazed by the pain. He stared at the mole on Gu Pei’s face for a long time like he’d found the source of all evil and punched him.
Yu Ji, standing behind Gu Pei, didn’t expect Lin Xunye to go straight for a hit. He stumbled back and ran to watch from a safe distance.
Lin Xunye moved quickly. As Gu Pei dodged, he grabbed the hem of Gu Pei’s shirt and yanked—ripping it in two.
His gaze swept over Gu Pei’s waistline. Something about those muscles felt familiar.
He chalked it up to that night in New Zealand and didn’t overthink it.
When Lin Xunye rushed over, Gu Pei had covered his face and now wasn’t fighting back.
Lin Xunye didn’t hold back either. The two of them scuffled into a dark alley beside the bar.
Without streetlights, the alley was much darker. Gu Pei quickly turned the tables grabbing Lin Xunye’s arms and hoisting him over his shoulder.
Caught off guard by the weightlessness, Lin Xunye tried to kick him, but Gu Pei used brute force to clamp his legs together.
Agitated, Lin Xunye tore open Gu Pei’s shirt and bit down on his gland.
The next second, a citrus-scented pheromone flooded the air, enveloping Lin Xunye in a dominant wave.
They entered a small, nondescript room at the end of the alley.
Gu Pei dropped him on the couch. The moment he let go, Lin Xunye pounced like an angry kitten, scratching him all over.
Gu Pei undid his belt and tied Lin Xunye’s hands together.
Lin Xunye glared at him, eyes rimmed red, the corners upturned in a strangely alluring way.
“You bastard. That night in New Zealand it was you, wasn’t it?” he growled.
Gu Pei didn’t respond, just adjusted the belt so it wouldn’t hurt him as much.
Even without a reply, Lin Xunye knew.
Damn dog. After all that searching, he got caught first.
He struggled hard his wrists turning red from the belt but acted like he couldn’t feel the pain.
No lights were on. Lin Xunye couldn’t see Gu Pei’s face. The darkness made his sense of smell hyperaware. The citrus pheromone kept flooding in, making his glands heat up.
The numbing pain spread through his body. He began breathing heavily, but he didn’t stop resisting.
While Gu Pei was adjusting his clothes, Lin Xunye rolled off the couch and tried to kick him.
Unfortunately, in the pitch-black room with heightened sensitivity from heat, his reactions were slow. He missed and fell face first.
Just as he braced for impact, strong hands caught him pulling him into a firm embrace.
The citrus scent intensified. Lin Xunye inhaled a huge breath, and his gland practically exploded with a wave of heat.
His knees went weak, half-collapsing against Gu Pei’s chest.
Gu Pei, distracted by the faint whipped cream scent coming from Lin Xunye, felt his thoughts wander.
He suddenly wanted to tell Lin Xunye the truth.
But doing that would mean getting beat to a pulp.
If Lin Xunye got too mad, he might even tear up their contract shouldering a 5 million yuan debt just to never see Gu Pei again.
That price was too steep. Gu Pei couldn’t risk it.
He hadn’t planned to do anything tonight he was just mad about something Lin Xunye had said earlier.
After all, Lin Xunye didn’t know who he really was. Doing anything now would feel like cheating.
And he didn’t want Lin Xunye to carry that psychological burden.
After struggling a while, Lin Xunye tried to negotiate: “Tone down your pheromones, and maybe I won’t hit you.”
Gu Pei kept silent.
Lin Xunye forced himself to ignore the gland’s heat. But it wasn’t working. He actually wanted to throw himself at Gu Pei for more.
This wasn’t good.
The man’s pheromone was too concentrated. Though not aggressive, he was still an Omega. Prolonged exposure like this would definitely trigger heat.
He’d rather go back to Gu Pei than stay with this rude jerk.
Talks failed. Lin Xunye resorted to tricks.
His forehead was covered in sweat. He deliberately rubbed against Gu Pei, planning to land a knee strike when he backed off.
Unexpectedly, Gu Pei didn’t dodge. He even wiped the sweat from his brow.
Just as Lin Xunye lifted his leg, Gu Pei pinned him down on the couch, hands bound behind his back.
At first, Lin Xunye didn’t resist. Instead, a memory surfaced being pinned in the back seat of a car by Gu Pei.
It was blurry, but vivid.
Suddenly, the pressure on his wrists disappeared. The belt had been undone.
Before he could turn around, Gu Pei turned on the lights.
The blinding light made Lin Xunye squint.
When he opened his eyes again, he was alone.
A faint trace of citrus pheromone still lingered in the air.
Lin Xunye collapsed back onto the couch, surrounded by his own whipped-cream scent.
The two pheromones mingled in the air and sparked something electric.
That close contact forced him to admit the truth:
Their pheromone compatibility… was at least 90%.
Maybe even higher.
Letting out a long breath, Lin Xunye reached under the couch for his phone.
On instinct, he dialed Gu Pei’s number.
