The Unmarried Omega Falls into Being a Wife - Chapter 27
When Gu Pei’s cold but gentle voice reached Lin Xunye’s ears, he unexpectedly felt particularly at ease.
There was a lot of noise on Gu Pei’s end, sounding like from a bar or a club. Lin Xunye teased, “Gu, still entertaining clients so late?”
Gu Pei responded with a simple “Hmm,” then fell silent.
So quiet, as if mute, Lin Xunye thought.
After a while, he said, “Gu Pei, here’s your chance to fulfill your legal duties as a husband.”
“The alley next to the bar, come pick me up.”
Gu Pei arrived quickly. His torn clothes had been replaced with a neatly ironed suit, but careful observation would notice some wine stains on the hem of the jacket, creating a small dark patch.
The smell of alcohol masked the citrus scent well, and also made Gu Pei unaware of the subtle information pheromones slowly leaking out.
When Gu Peig knocked on the door, Lin Xunye was already lying on the sofa playing a game.
The game’s sound effects were loud enough to drown out the music spilling out from the nearby bar. Lin Xunye glanced at the door when it opened, confirmed it was Gu Pei, then turned back to continue playing.
“Wait a moment, I still need five minutes to finish,” he said.
The sounds of the game continued; Gu Pei quietly sat beside him, waiting.
Five minutes passed, but Lin Xunye didn’t finish.
Ten minutes passed, still not done.
Fifteen minutes later, Gu Pei picked Lin Xunye up and carried him out.
Lin Xunye mumbled, “Just five more minutes, what’s the rush?”
Another five minutes passed, and Lin Xunye finally finished.
He showed Gu Pei the victory screen, “See, I told you, just wait five minutes.”
Gu Pei said, “You’re the fastest talker I’ve ever seen when playing games.”
Lin Xunye didn’t catch the irony, nodded in agreement, “Indeed. Though I’m strong, don’t overestimate me a person should stay low-key.”
Gu Pei glanced at Lin Xunye’s expression and saw no displeasure, feeling relieved.
Suddenly, Lin Xunye leaned closer, sniffing his chest. Gu Pei’s heart instantly tightened. However, Lin Xunye only asked, “Why do you smell like ginger?”
Gu Pei lowered his head to sniff, his gaze steady, “Probably caught it at the dinner party. I’ll just take a shower when I get home.”
A flawless answer. Lin Xunye nodded, resting his chin on his hand while looking out the window.
He had walked this route from the bar many times, but this time, he really felt like he was going home.
Does marriage really change a person this much?
He suddenly felt emotional.
Lin Xunye patted his face, brushing away these disruptive thoughts.
His gaze scanned Gu Pei profile, and he reached out a fingertip to touch his nose.
“Did you get something on your face?”
Instantly, Gu Pei stiffened, his glands twitching slightly.
The car stopped. Gu Pei turned off the lights. Lin Xunye’s vision dimmed, his eyes squinted but still fixed on Gu Pei’s nose.
Gu Pei pulled out the car keys, calmly looked back at Lin Xunye, his deep blue eyes even more intense in the night, “Is there something?”
The car was too dark, and the streetlight too weak, so Lin Xunye looked carefully for a moment, then moved his finger to above Gu Pei’s Adam’s apple, “Seems like here, there’s a…”
Suddenly, Lin Xunye’s lips were captured by Gu Pei’s, and his hands were pinned behind his back.
The wild kiss robbed most of the air from Lin Xunye’s chest. Soon, he was gasping for breath, his mind going blank.
His glands started heating up again.
Gu Pei held him firmly, not allowing him to move.
Their lips and teeth bit fiercely, the taste of bl00d spreading.
Before the pheromones overflowed completely, Gu Pei released Lin Xunye and opened the car door for him.
“Get out.”
One button of Gu Pei’s shirt popped off, landing right on Lin Xunye’s nose.
Already reddened from the kiss, Lin Xunye covered his nose, eyes moist as he looked at Gu Pei.
His sixth sense told him Gu Pei’s susceptible period had arrived.
Lin Xunye’s sense of duty was strong. He didn’t get out immediately but asked, “Do you need me to help?”
The meaning was clear.
If Gu Pei said yes or nodded, he would stay.
But Gu Pei didn’t.
He suppressed the urge to release pheromones forcibly, turned to look straight ahead, hands clenched tightly, “No, I’ll handle it myself.”
This was an answer Lin Xunye hadn’t expected.
He thought someone like Gu Pei, who actively offered to fulfill Article 58, wouldn’t refuse.
Suddenly, Lin Xunye felt a bit disappointed.
But then he patted his face and got out, heading indoors.
Gu Pei stayed in the car for half an hour, during which he injected himself with a suppressant to confirm he could hold back releasing pheromones before coming inside.
The lights were still on inside; on the sofa lay a jacket of Lin Xunye’s.
Gu Pei walked over, sniffed the jacket; it was heavily scented with a light creamy pheromone, seemingly deliberately applied.
Images of Lin Xunye’s flushed cheeks and his lips stained red from the kiss flashed in Gu Pei’s mind, tightening his throat.
The phone rang without being muted, Gu Pei paused for two seconds before taking it out.
There was only one message:
[A Ye]: “Article 58 requires both parties, under necessary conditions, to provide pheromones for each other. Failure to comply counts as breach of contract.”
Gu Pei was about to reply when another message came in.
[A Ye]: “Don’t think you can make 5 million from me.”
Gu Pei chuckled, typed for a while, then deleted everything and simply replied with “Hmm.”
On the second floor bedroom, Lin Xunye stared at the “Hmm” message, puzzled.
He was so understanding, and this was the only reply he got?
It was just too “Hmm”!
He turned off his phone, rubbed the back of his neck.
His glands, which had just released pheromones, felt dry but hot.
This definitely was that dog’s doing.
Staring at the ceiling, Lin Xunye fell into thought.
First, his strength was clearly weaker than a man’s. He couldn’t overpower the big guy’s arm alone; if he wanted to catch someone, he couldn’t do it solo he needed a few trustworthy people.
But the problem was, he wasn’t the boss of the omega group, nor did he know any reliable security companies, so finding people was an issue.
He considered asking Xu Qian for a few bodyguards.
Just as the thought emerged, he stopped it.
Xu Qian was surrounded by so many troublesome exes every day, losing his bodyguards might lead to him being strangled by some random ex-boyfriend.
He couldn’t risk his brother.
Secondly, finding men was purely luck. No normal person would hang out at bars every day, except Xu Qian.
To Xu Qian, the bar was like his second home.
In summary, Lin Xunye needed someone who could both help him find people and help him subdue them.
After thinking hard, Lin Xunye thought of a good candidate.
“Li Ye, didn’t you learn martial arts? Can you help me out?” Lin Xunye said, biting a straw.
Li Ye dipped some ink, took the book Lin Xunye had under his arm, “What for? Did Xu Qian get chased by an ex again?”
Half a year ago, Xu Qian fell in love with an omega. When the other party found Xu Qian staying at a bar, he was chased and beaten for two days and nights. Xu Qian explained he just slept there, but the other side treated him like a dog.
During those two days, Li Ye and the bodyguards stayed with him, suffering black eyes.
Lin Xunye was abroad then, providing spiritual support.
The sound of paper under the hand brought Lin Xunye back. He puckered his lips and half-jokingly said, “Not that, something else.”
Li Ye said, “I don’t fight. Life first, calligraphy second.”
Lin Xunye laughed, “But you said calligraphy was your number one plan, how come it’s second now?”
Li Ye put down the brush, looked seriously at Lin Xunye, “Because only if I live can I keep writing.”
Lin Xunye: “.”
Well, nothing changed.
He had just worried a bit.
“Alright, alright.” Lin Xunye gave up on asking Li Ye for help and rested his head, thinking of other solutions.
Though Li Ye wouldn’t help fight, he opened Lin Xunye’s mind: “You’re married to Gu Pei, right? His connections must be wide. You can ask him for help.”
That was true. No one had better connections than Gu Pei. Asking him was the best choice.
But would Gu Pei help?
Lin Xunye bit the straw flat, his expression alternating between serious and relaxed.
If Xu Qian weren’t away, he would call Lin Xunye a “face changer.”
After thinking for a while, Lin Xunye decided to ask Gu Pei for help.
They were now legal husbands, so it was legitimate. Also, Lin Xunye helped Gu Pei a little yesterday, so it was mutual help.
Once decided, Lin Xunye immediately went to Gu’s company.
The receptionist saw him, didn’t stop or ask about an appointment, just called the secretary to notify the boss.
Lin Xunye just arrived upstairs, hand on the office door handle, when an assistant appeared beside him to stop him.
“Mr. Lin, Gu isn’t here.”
Hand still holding the handle, Lin Xunye sounded full of disbelief, “Really?”
The assistant kept calm with professional poise, guarding the boss’s marriage, “Yes, Gu went on a business trip, will be back in about three days.”
Three days exactly one Alpha susceptible period.
Lin Xunye quickly guessed something.
Gu Pei must have a secret.
But Lin Xunye didn’t have time to think about what Gu was hiding. He let go of the handle, pocketed his hands, “Then I’ll leave. Please tell him I have something to talk to him about.”
“Okay, Mr. Lin.”
After sending Lin Xunye off, the assistant nervously called Gu Pei.
“Boss, Mr. Lin just came by. He asked me to tell you he has something to discuss.”
“Not sure what, maybe just wants to see you.”
There was a pause on the other end, then a few more instructions.
The assistant acknowledged, hung up, and glanced at the office several times, thinking: Only the boss’s wife can manage his bad temper.
Downstairs, Lin Xunye took a ride-hailing car back to the villa.
Without Gu Pei, the villa felt somewhat empty. The housekeeper would leave after cooking on schedule. Only Lin Xunye stayed in the villa.
Lin Xunye stayed inside, studying calligraphy annotations for three days and also tried some online fortune-telling websites about dreams.
But since all he remembered from the dream was “Brother, I love you,” “Brother, I like you,” and “Brother, you’ll never leave me, right?” the results were inaccurate and almost infuriated him.
Almost every site showed errors after making him watch ads about curing love problems.
After that, Lin Xunye gave up and focused on work, occasionally sending Gu Pei a few messages: “Have you eaten?” “Are you asleep?” Most often, “When will you come back?”
After three days, the villa finally had someone besides Lin Xunye and the housekeeper.
