The Unmarried Omega Falls into Being a Wife - Chapter 30
It was the innate unwillingness to lose that gave him a second chance at life.
He also hoped to help others and hoped to prove himself through this.
Fulfilling a promise is not an easy thing; Lin Xunye was very clear about this. That was why he got so angry when Gu Pei said, “I can die for you.”
They were just business partners a real marriage, fake couple. Gu Pei really didn’t need to gamble his whole life on him.
Thinking of this, Lin Xunye anxiously took out a cigarette and put it in his mouth.
Li Ye saw it and teased, “You don’t even smoke. Why do you keep putting that in your mouth every day? Showing off?”
The cigarette butt rolled around in Lin Xunye’s mouth; he bit it and then threw the cigarette pack on the table. “Wanna try?”
“Not smoking is fine too.”
Li Ye looked at him suspiciously but couldn’t help being curious and reached for the cigarette pack.
As soon as he got it, Li Ye frowned and sniffed: “There’s a strong citrus smell inside. Did you buy this on purpose?”
The pack was closed, and Li Ye put it back on the table, waiting for Lin Xunye to answer.
Lin Xunye flicked the cigarette out of his mouth and sniffed. “Damn, there really is?”
Lin Xunye looked at the pack inside and out in disbelief. Smelling the citrus scent inside, his expression became serious.
His original cigarettes were just regular tobacco flavor, definitely no citrus smell.
He pinched his nose, put the pack near his mouth, then suddenly let go and inhaled deeply but didn’t smell anything.
His nose seemed blocked.
But why did he smell it earlier?
Strange.
Suddenly, Lin Xunye started coughing violently. Covering his mouth, tears forced out from the corners of his eyes as if he was about to cough up his lungs.
Li Ye poured him a glass of water. After Lin Xunye recovered, he unscrewed the bottle and gulped it down.
Li Ye silently took the cup away and drank his own.
After resting a while, Lin Xunye’s voice was weak: “I’m leaving first.”
Li Ye got up to pull him back, but Lin Xunye walked too fast and almost bumped into the table.
After leaving the agency, Lin Xunye didn’t take a taxi.
Maybe the traffic was still congested from the accident.
Lin Xunye stood by the flower bed waiting for the traffic light and saw Gu Pei chatting and laughing with others in a restaurant opposite.
Not far, Lin Xunye saw clearly.
Gu Pei was wearing the clothes Lin Xunye had seen him wear in the taxi, shaking hands with a thinner man.
They said something, and Gu Pei smiled happily.
Suddenly, Lin Xunye felt uneasy.
Why did it look so much like a cheating scene?
Can he divorce again?
Lin Xunye slapped his face to dispel the sudden thought.
The itch in his throat made him want to cough, but the green light was on, so he suppressed it and coughed lightly to ease it.
Passing by the restaurant, Lin Xunye deliberately stood by the window for a while.
His silver hair shone even brighter in the sunlight.
Passersby couldn’t help but look, wanting to see his true face clearly.
But Lin Xunye lowered his head, pressing on his phone, and they could only see the earrings on his right ear.
One character was (wa), and the other seemed to be an abbreviation like “HH.”
Silver-haired Lin Xunye looked gentler than when he had red hair, but as soon as someone got close, the aggressiveness that was masked by his appearance immediately showed.
After standing a little while, Lin Xunye had already rejected three people who asked for his contact information.
The most ridiculous was an omega man who, after Lin Xunye refused by saying he was an omega himself, said he was willing to try an OO relationship for him.
Lin Xunye was stunned, finally frowning and scaring the guy away.
Lin Xunye had no interest in playing the game of waiting for Gu Pei to discover him.
He put on his hood and turned to leave.
Just as he took a step, the hood string was grabbed.
A cool hand brushed his cheek, and Lin Xunye rubbed comfortably.
Gu Pei’s hand stiffened, and the hood string slipped from his hand.
Realizing what he had done, Lin Xunye quickly turned around and distanced himself from Gu Pei.
Behind him was a large glass window.
Even though Lin Xunye lowered his head and avoided looking back, he could see Gu Pei out of the corner of his eye.
Gu Pei’s expression was calm, unreadable, but the furrow between his brows showed anger.
Lin Xunye hadn’t figured out why, and suddenly Gu Pei grabbed his shoulder and turned him around.
The two stood face to face, very close.
Gu Pei bent down and touched his forehead to Lin Xunye’s.
Lin Xunye’s outstretched hand was stopped halfway; Gu Pei stepped back half a pace, then put the back of his hand on Lin Xunye’s forehead again.
After a moment, Gu Pei concluded, “You have a fever.”
Lin Xunye’s arm was still held by Gu Pei, who felt the rising temperature.
Unlike heat during the estrus period, Lin Xunye’s temperature was much higher than before.
Without hesitation, Gu Pei lifted him up and headed to a nearby parked car.
Yang Jin just returned to the country.
He had been avoiding clingy people and old friends and was finally out for dinner, unexpectedly seeing Gu Pei’s secret marriage “little darling.”
Although Gu Pei’s wife looked quite big, their relationship seemed good.
If he were “forced” to be carried like this in public, he would definitely have beaten the other into a meat paste.
Witnessing Gu Pei “kidnap” Lin Xunye like a robber, Yang Jin immediately imagined a big drama.
“Sir, would you like to order more dishes?”
The waiter stood beside, holding the list of dishes Yang Jin had just ordered.
“I’ll take a look.”
Yang Jin picked up the menu and added a few more dishes, crossing out the ones Gu Pei liked, then replied to the person who kept messaging him.
Lin Xunye was still stunned when carried into the hospital.
He had only ever been princess carried by Gu Pei.
His previous memories were blurry; he didn’t have a real sense of it.
But this time, he was really lifted off the ground in Gu Pei’s arms.
Gu Pei carried him into the ward, even removing his clothes for the temperature check.
Lin Xunye tried to struggle but couldn’t.
Gu Pei held him tightly, restraining him Lin Xunye couldn’t even elbow him and had to let him do as he pleased.
The doctor checked and asked Lin Xunye if he wanted medicine or an injection.
Lin Xunye hated taking medicine but hated injections more.
He said, “Give me the most effective medicine, regardless of side effects, just make me better.”
Gu Pei’s arm tightened, squeezing him so hard he almost couldn’t breathe.
He patted Gu Pei’s arm heavily: “Let go.”
When he spoke, both Gu Pei and Lin Xunye were stunned.
His hoarse voice was like an old ventilation box, with some syllables even unclear to Lin Xunye himself.
The doctor stopped midway and asked Lin Xunye to open his mouth and show his tongue: “Tonsillitis. You better take an injection. Wait here for the nurse.”
The doctor scribbled something on the medical form and glanced meaningfully at Gu Pei: “Family member, please go pay.”
Lin Xunye’s fever-clouded mind didn’t realize this wasn’t a normal procedure.
He didn’t have much time alone in the ward.
Just as he wanted to take off his shoes and lie down, the door opened again.
Lin Xunye glanced disinterestedly, then pretended to be asleep.
The nurse, used to this, tied a tourniquet on Lin Xunye’s arm and tapped his hand.
Once the vein showed, she cleaned with alcohol and quickly stuck in the needle.
Her movements were smooth and efficient.
But Lin Xunye still called out softly.
After the tourniquet was released, bl00d flowed back.
Lin Xunye’s tight muscles relaxed slowly; he felt drowsy.
He carefully took off his shoes and lay down.
The drip’s ticking sound continued.
In his dream, Lin Xunye also suffered the same pain.
Like reality, he was in a hospital.
But the sick person was not him.
The person whose heart ached was him.
A weak young man lay on the bed, wearing a special collar that controlled Alpha pheromone disorders.
The doctor’s voice was clear: “The patient has severe pheromone disorder. Without finding a highly compatible partner, medication alone cannot cure it.”
“There is even a risk of death.”
Lin Xunye’s heart tightened; he looked at the young man, pupils trembling.
The young man’s face was pale; his exposed canine teeth bit hard on his lip, bl00d flowing to his collarbone.
The collar left marks all over his neck, reddening Lin Xunye’s eyes.
He took two steps forward, wanting to hold the struggling hand reaching for him but was stopped halfway.
The doctor’s voice was emotionless: “Are you his partner?”
“Yes, lover,” Gu Pei introduced Lin Xunye after paying.
“You scared me when you first messaged me. I thought I dreamed you got married,” the doctor joked.
Gu Pei was silent for a moment. “No, it’s real. We are legally married.”
The doctor pushed up his glasses and nodded calmly.
“Marriage is good, very good. When you were a child, I went with your father to see a fortune teller. We really thought you would be lonely forever.”
“Hey, is your gland okay?” the doctor suddenly asked.
Gu Pei had a high fever at six years old that lasted three days and nights.
Neither injections nor medicine worked.
Gu Pei’s father was worried for three days, finally found a fortune teller.
Coincidentally, Gu Pei’s fever subsided the day before they went.
Gu Pei’s father was skeptical and decided not to go.
But that night, Gu Pei’s fever returned, glands burning.
At the hospital, it was diagnosed as the beginning of pheromone disorder.
Gu Pei’s father placed him in hospital for observation and drove up the mountain to see the fortune teller.
The fortune teller’s visit helped Gu Pei recover and run again.
But Gu Pei’s father still worried and insisted on another fortune telling.
After about half an hour, the fortune teller explained:
Gu Pei’s previous life had a predestined lover but due to his health and some unspeakable misunderstandings, it became a tragic fate.
They were entangled for life; one died, the other died alone.
Gu Pei was the one who would die alone.
Hence, he had some vague memories but couldn’t recall the face clearly.
When Gu Pei asked if it was a very handsome older brother, the fortune teller didn’t pull off his clothes but said vaguely:
“In your past life, you loved each other in a lavender field. If you want to find him again, plant some lavender.”
