The Unmarried Omega Falls into Being a Wife - Chapter 4
Regret comes quickly but leaves slowly.
There were too many flowers at the doorstep for Lin Xunye to handle alone. After all, he’s not Nezha no three heads and six arms. He hadn’t been back in the country for a long time and didn’t know which number to call to hire a helper.
So, he called Xu Qian.
“There’s something come quickly” Lin Xunye said and hung up immediately.
He knew Xu Qian’s curiosity was intense; the less he said, the more Xu Qian would want to know.
Sure enough, twenty minutes later, Xu Qian, wearing a birthday hat, showed up at Lin Xunye’s doorstep.
“Bro, you finally decided to tell me about your early marriage scandal?” Xu Qian’s voice was outrageously loud.
It wasn’t his fault ever since he learned that Lin Xunye was going to marry Gu Pei, he couldn’t sleep nights.
He was dying to get the scoop, but Lin Xunye gave him no chance.
For a whole month, Lin Xunye didn’t pick up his calls or reply to texts. Whenever they spoke, if marriage was mentioned, Lin Xunye would block him.
In thirty days, Xu Qian was blocked sixty times!
Lin Xunye didn’t answer his questions.
With his hands in his pockets, Lin Xunye said simply, “Help me out, consider it a gift for you.”
Xu Qian followed his gaze and his pupils instantly dilated. “So many admirers of yours!”
“Oh my god, this must be at least three, I swear.”
Xu Qian squatted to inspect the flowers. Lin Xunye rubbed his temples and tapped his fingers against his pants unevenly. “They’re for you.”
He finished speaking and walked inside.
Before the door shut, with his peripheral vision, Lin Xunye saw Xu Qian pick up a little card he was very familiar with. Lin Xunye held his breath, stretched his hand through the crack of the door, snatched the card back before Xu Qian could read it fully, and said, “Don’t mess with grown-up stuff.”
Lin Xunye closed the door briskly. Outside, Xu Qian made no sound of dissatisfaction.
Ten minutes later, someone knocked on the door.
Lin Xunye yawned and opened the door slowly.
Xu Qian stood at the door with his arms crossed, scrutinizing him, with Li Ye standing next to him.
Lin Xunye nodded at him and turned back inside.
The living room was filled with calligraphy tools. Two meter long rice paper was spread over the custom desk. At first glance, it was clean and blank.
Xu Qian curiously walked over, “Did you invent invisible ink? Do you have to burn it to see the writing?”
He pulled out a lighter, ready to set fire to it.
Lin Xunye didn’t stop him but sat on the sofa watching the little flame approach the paper. Just as he was about to light it, Lin Xunye said, “750 yuan per sheet, remember to pay me on Alipay.”
Xu Qian froze, loosening his grip so the lighter almost dropped.
Seeing him back down, Lin Xunye chuckled lightly, “Just kidding, it’s a thousand.”
“Ah?” Xu Qian was stunned.
Li Ye explained in time, “This rice paper is a high-end brand, so the price is a bit steep.”
After hearing this, Xu Qian still didn’t understand, “I don’t get it. Isn’t it just a piece of paper? So expensive. Better to go drink at a bar.”
Mentioning drinks, Xu Qian immediately got energized and went on non-stop.
Lin Xunye was in a generally bad mood, so he didn’t refuse when Xu Qian suggested going to a bar to relax.
8 PM.
As soon as they entered the bar, Xu Qian was like a monkey coming down from the mountain, lively and jumpy.
Li Ye was indifferent to this environment and sat in the corner drinking juice.
Lin Xunye, weighed down by recent troubles, casually ordered a high-proof rum.
After a sip, Lin Xunye frowned.
The second sip, Lin Xunye grabbed Xu Qian’s collar and interrupted his dance, “This is Stroh 80.”
Xu Qian looked puzzled, “Yeah, 80% alcohol, one sip and it’ll knock you out.”
After answering, Xu Qian broke free and ran into the dance floor.
Lin Xunye stood in place, rubbing his temples with a headache.
Damn, this alcohol again.
Moonlight grew stronger, the bar filled with more people.
Among them, the most eye-catching was a blue-haired man dressed in punk style.
Since entering, Gu Pei had been constantly scrutinized, but he didn’t mind. Instead, he smiled at every person who made eye contact.
By the time he reached the booth, he had already smiled over forty times.
Yu Ji, who had arrived earlier, joked, “Pei bro, still as charming as ever!”
Gu Pei gave a light hum, sat down, and sipped his drink.
His handsome, half-closed eyes narrowed. Gu Pei looked at Yu Ji and with lips tinted by the drink in the light, smiled beautifully, “Stroh 80.”
Yu Ji said, “You’re amazing, you can tell just by tasting.”
Gu Pei thought to himself: How could I not tell?
That night in New Zealand, it was because he accidentally drank that drink that he had a messy encounter with an omega.
He woke up not remembering a thing, his body covered in cat-scratch-like marks.
The only thing he kept was a jade necklace left by the owner.
Gu Pei touched his chest where the necklace lay in the inner pocket of his coat, close to his heart.
He had wanted to throw it away but somehow didn’t and carried it with him every day.
The alcohol’s buzz was unpleasant. Lin Xunye closed his eyes and slumped in the booth.
He remembered his alcohol tolerance used to be okay, but after one sip of Stroh 80, he felt like a complete newbie, miserable all over.
His glands heated up to boiling, and the suppressor patch on the back of his neck was useless, unable to ease his discomfort.
Suddenly, a pleasant citrus scent wafted through the air, easing Lin Xunye’s unease.
Li Ye, a Beta, couldn’t smell pheromones, but Lin Xunye could.
That scent was clearly coming from the booth behind him.
Even if Lin Xunye’s sense of smell was dulled, he could recognize it—the strong citrus scent wasn’t from the Alpha who took advantage of him that night in New Zealand, it had to be from someone with the surname Xu.
Lin Xunye suddenly stood up, startling Li Ye.
“Going back?” Li Ye asked.
Lin Xunye waved his hand and pulled out his phone, placing it beside Li Ye, “Hold this. If you lose it, I won’t tell you the secret Master Ge taught me.”
Master Ge’s full name was Ge Yan, a famous calligrapher and Li Ye’s idol.
Hearing this, Li Ye held the phone with both hands, eyes fixed on it, afraid it would fly away.
Lin Xunye was amused by his expression. He only gave Li Ye the phone to avoid it flying off during the fight. He had used this phone for five years and was emotionally attached to it, not wanting to replace it.
Using his sharp sense of smell, Lin Xunye found the culprit.
He was a little surprised the culprit was that guy who just convulsed in front of him.
Gu Pei’s alcohol tolerance was good; he only took one sip and didn’t get drunk but didn’t continue drinking.
He definitely didn’t want to relive being used as a scratching post.
Suddenly, a person appeared before him. Gu Pei’s eyelids lifted slightly, his deep blue eyes staring right into Lin Xunye’s, as if looking into his soul.
Lin Xunye’s heart jumped; his straight legs bent, and he sat down in the booth.
Under the neon lights, their faces overlapped with a filter. From Gu Pei’s perspective, Lin Xunye’s lip piercing was a dazzling spot of color.
Very conspicuous and very fitting.
Lin Xunye didn’t like beating around the bush. Once seated, he asked directly, “The citrus smell is coming from you, right?”
A statement.
Gu Pei raised his eyebrows; the words at his mouth weren’t spoken, as a fist suddenly swung up, stirring the fringe on his forehead.
Lin Xunye didn’t give Gu Pei a chance to argue. He raised his hand to punch but stopped just in front of Gu Pei’s nose.
So familiar.
Gu Pei didn’t dodge. He took a sip of his drink.
Before Lin Xunye could act again, Gu Pei suddenly stood, crossed the table with long legs, and tackled Lin Xunye.
Gu Pei’s left hand pressed against Lin Xunye’s inner thigh, his right leg pinned on Lin Xunye’s waist, freeing his right hand to grab the half-finished drink and forcefully poured it into Lin Xunye’s mouth.
The alcohol came aggressively; Lin Xunye wasn’t prepared and choked.
He coughed twice, his reddish eyes looking charmingly at Gu Pei.
Gu Pei was stunned by that look; the peach blossom eyes seemed to hold a pool of spring water, tempting him to resist but also welcoming.
His heart trembled, and Gu Pei loosened his grip.
Sensing Gu Pei’s change, Lin Xunye’s gentle gaze instantly turned sharp. He pushed Gu Pei back hard; Gu Pei staggered and hit his knee against the table.
The two were uneven in strength. Lin Xunye didn’t want to fight further. He flipped back to the booth where Li Ye sat, took his phone, and dashed for the bar’s exit.
Two tall, burly bodyguards had appeared at the door without him noticing. Lin Xunye ran over without being stopped and didn’t think much of it.
Outside, Lin Xunye turned into a nearby alley.
His glands’ temperature didn’t drop but increased. The fight’s intensity had unknowingly loosened the suppressor patch.
Lin Xunye sniffed his body. Besides the citrus smell, there was a faint scent of cream.
“Damn… can’t be this unlucky.”
He found a clean spot to squat and opened his phone to call Li Ye.
He scrolled through contacts but couldn’t find Li Ye’s number.
His head was so hot it went numb. He randomly dialed a number, but before he could speak, his throat was hoarse and lost his voice.
The glands’ heat surged, assaulting his sanity. He couldn’t speak and coughed heavily.
Before the call ended, the person on the other end said, “Wait for me.”
Lin Xunye didn’t have much hope.
Just as he was about to redial, a shadow fell over him.
He looked up; a streak of blue appeared in his vision.
Light flickered, waking Lin Xunye from sleep.
“Cough, cough…” He coughed heavily twice and propped himself up in bed.
He looked around; the hand resting on the quilt clenched suddenly, but the soft fuzzy touch beneath was ignored.
This was not his room.
He thought: Someone kidnapped me.
Thinking this, he tightened his grip harder. A faint, weak meow made him loosen his hand.
Like a kitten’s cry.
He hurriedly pulled back the quilt; a snowy white kitten lay underneath.
He carefully picked up the kitten, checking on it.
Lin Xunye had never owned a cat. He once dreamed of it but never dared.
He lived in a cage called “family,” how could he raise another life? He didn’t even plan on having kids.
