The Useless Alpha’s Yandere Wife - Chapter 9
Though the pale yellow bed curtains blocked the candlelight, the dim glow still allowed Jiang Yan to clearly see Tan Qianyue’s face.
The two women sat facing each other in thin robes. Jiang Yan’s gaze grew bolder, her eyes lingering on the Eldest Miss’s captivating beauty, slowly drifting across her features.
Tan Qianyue lowered her curled lashes, avoiding eye contact. In the dim light, she shed her daytime arrogance, appearing delicate and aloof.
A faint rose fragrance emanated from her, soothing and pleasant. Her loose-fitting lake-green robe and trousers draped alluringly over her shapely figure.
Gold threads shimmered subtly in the fabric, lending even this casual nightwear an exquisite beauty and a hint of understated luxury.
“Why don’t you kiss me?” Jiang Yan blinked, leaning closer. “It’s better than just sitting here awkwardly, right?”
She couldn’t understand why the Eldest Miss insisted on intimacy. Jiang Yan’s control over her pheromones was still weak, preventing her from actively releasing them to enhance the mood.
At these words, Tan Qianyue’s head snapped up, her face flushing crimson even in the dim light. She wanted to say something, but no words came.
Just as Jiang Yan braced herself for a scolding, the Eldest Miss leaned forward with the solemnity of someone facing martyrdom, her face inches from Jiang Yan’s. Jiang Yan’s heart pounded so hard it felt like it would burst from her chest.
The two were only a fist’s distance apart. The Eldest Miss’s raven-feather-like eyelashes trembled as she leaned closer, millimeter by millimeter, until her lips finally pressed against Jiang Yan’s delicate pink ones.
Jiang Yan felt as if she were enveloped in a bouquet of fresh flowers, dizzy and too afraid to move. Wait, this is a real kiss!
Tan Qianyue merely brushed her lips against Jiang Yan’s before pulling back, leaving the other woman’s mind frozen in place.
Somehow, the screen had been accidentally activated, projecting a large, colorful virtual display behind Tan Qianyue.
Jiang Yan froze. Why is it on now? She’s not even filming!
But in the next instant, the live stream’s viewership skyrocketed to over eighty, making Jiang Yan’s hackles rise.
“What’s this? Did you all smell the kiss?” Jiang Yan muttered, watching the viewer count continue to climb. Her hand hovered hesitantly over the power button. Alone in this strange world, understanding the stream’s purpose could be her best chance at survival.
Meanwhile, she still had to deal with the Eldest Miss. Jiang Yan swiftly pulled the woman into her arms, gently wrapping her arms around her slender waist.
As expected, the comments section exploded:
Nutrient Paste Tastes Better Than Pig Slop: Ahhhhhh! I saw a real person! I saw a real person!
Working for a Home, Moving Out of the Bunker: Kiss! Kiss! So this is the ancient legend!
Motivated to Join the Guard: Why can’t they just adopt little robots? Making them themselves is such a hassle.
Bunker Know-It-All: You idiot upstairs, they’re building robots, okay?!
Make another stupid robot and die: What? We have to spend Energy Stones? No way, we’re only here for freebies.
Motivated to Join the Guard: Fourth floor, fifth floor, are you two ganging up on me?
Jiang Yan stared at the dizzying barrage of comments, her hands tightening involuntarily as she pulled Tan Qianyue closer into her embrace.
Tan Qianyue was overwhelmed by Jiang Yan’s sudden fervor. Her body gradually softened, her head resting against Jiang Yan’s shoulder, her warm breath brushing against the pale nape of her neck. She felt the drug coursing through her veins, leaving her increasingly weak and numb. She could only press kisses behind Jiang Yan’s ear, her bites so feeble they relied entirely on Jiang Yan’s hold to keep her pressed against her chest.
Her cheeks flushed crimson like rouge, her eyes lowered demurely as her fingers slipped beneath Jiang Yan’s thin shirt…
Jiang Yan gleaned a crucial piece of information from the comments: she needed to get fans to spend Energy Stones. However, it seemed that simply watching without donating might also work, similar to her live streams.
But without converting Energy Stones into Gold Coins, she couldn’t claim the rewards left by her predecessors. So, earning Energy Stones remained essential.
Meanwhile, Tan Qianyue’s body burned with fever. As her restless hands roamed, Jiang Yan frowned, scanning the comments. The Eldest Miss was kissing and sucking at her ear, her face buried in Jiang Yan’s thick hair, like a mischievous sprite setting fires everywhere.
She was a completely different person from moments ago.
Working for a home, moving out of the bunker: [I want to see another person’s face]
Immediately, she received five Energy Stones, which instantly converted into five Gold Coins. Good news: the System didn’t take a cut, so all five coins were hers.
“…Hmm!” Jiang Yan, nearly losing her mind from the Eldest Miss’s seduction, quickly closed the screen.
She waved at the citizens of some unknown world on the other side, calmly shut down the screen, and pocketed the five Gold Coins. Hopefully, no one will come looking for their money later.
Only then did she pull Tan Qianyue out of her arms and gently remove the jade hairpin securing her hair. A cascade of soft, dark hair tumbled down.
Jiang Yan carefully placed the six warm jade hairpins on the small table beside the bed, ensuring they wouldn’t poke the Eldest Miss.
This perfectly composed woman was clinging to her like a drunkard, even her hair adding to the chaos.
Jiang Yan casually picked up a pale yellow ribbon and gathered the Eldest Miss’s long hair, meticulously tying it behind her head—neither too tight nor too loose.
But as Jiang Yan tied Tan Qianyue’s hair, the Eldest Miss had already tugged open her thin robe. This woman never stayed still for a moment.
Jiang Yan couldn’t help but feel she was being a bit too fussy. Gazing at the vibrant, fragrant woman looking up at her with tear-filled eyes, she couldn’t resist cupping her face.
By the time the candle had burned halfway down, Jiang Yan realized that while her original host had been timid, her stamina was remarkably good—no doubt a result of being beaten since childhood.
The Eldest Miss, whom she had moved to the side, lay in a deep sleep, her face glowing with a pearly luster. Her skin was soft, supple, and faintly flushed, making her appear even more beautiful than the day before.
With her eyes closed demurely and her usual mocking attitude gone, she evoked a tender feeling in Jiang Yan’s heart.
Jiang Yan found another pale yellow ribbon to tie up her long hair—this length was such a nuisance.
Surveying the disheveled bedding, she rose and took a silver basin to the water room to fetch water.
It wasn’t too late yet, so the hot water in the water room should still be warm. Feeling too embarrassed to ask a maid to fetch it, she quietly went herself.
After wiping both of them clean with a damp cloth, she glanced at the soaked bedding, her face flushed. They couldn’t possibly sleep here any longer.
But it was the middle of the night, and she couldn’t summon anyone to remake the bed.
She picked up Tan Qianyue’s lake-green nightgown, pausing when she touched the trousers. These ancient clothes really have so many layers, she thought.
Wrapping Tan Qianyue in a thin quilt, Jiang Yan carried her downstairs, taking the nightgown with them.
The ground-floor window remained open, letting in a chilly draft, but Jiang Yan’s bed wasn’t directly in the path of the wind, so she ignored it.
She dressed the Eldest Miss in the dark, tucked her under a thick quilt, and lay down beside her.
Before long, Tan Qianyue, shivering from the cold, burrowed into Jiang Yan’s arms, clinging to her with soft, fragrant warmth.
Jiang Yan instinctively wrapped her arms around Tan Qianyue, glanced at the open window, and didn’t bother closing it.
The next morning, Tan Qianyue woke up feeling refreshed and clear-headed. But why was she in Jiang Yan’s bed, and where had Jiang Yan gone?
Barefoot, she quietly slipped back upstairs, her body feeling much better than it had the previous two days.
Doctor Lu had forgotten to mention that when Harmony Powder was resolved using the original method, its effects far surpassed those of ordinary beauty-enhancing formulas. Properly used, it was no longer a poison.
However, the ingredients were exceedingly rare and expensive. Even the Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion, which specialized in rare herbs, would charge a fortune for them.
It was rarely used casually. If a dissolute young master indulged excessively with multiple partners, it could easily damage his vital essence.
Back on the second floor, Tan Qianyue’s bare feet sank into the white carpet as she padded to the bed. Without the quilt to conceal it, the wrinkled sheets still bore the marks of the previous night.
With a quick glance, she immediately understood why she had woken up in Jiang Yan’s bed.
Her face flushed crimson, she hastily summoned servants to tidy the room and change the bedding.
Her gaze shifted to a white handkerchief draped over a silver basin. A possibility flashed through her mind. The Eldest Miss’s body had been immobilized. Lowering her eyes to conceal the shimmering light in her amber eyes, she feigned composure and walked toward the Noble Consort’s couch.
Jiang Yan had already fled early that morning. She needed to visit Jiang Manor soon to resolve the troubles there and meet the Original Host’s two mothers.
Though she felt guilty for occupying someone else’s life, she had no choice but to honor the Original Host’s memory by caring for her two pitiful mothers.
Upon entering Jiang Manor, she called out, “Mother?”
“You still remember to come back? Did Tan Manor have mountains of gold and silver that made you forget your own home?” Madam Yu’s beautiful face tightened, her eyes glaring at her daughter.
“Hehe, I’m back now, aren’t I? Even mountains of gold and silver can’t compare to the comfort of home,” Jiang Yan said, adopting the Original Host’s playful manner as she tugged on Madam Yu’s sleeve and shook it gently.
“Alright, what do you mean by bringing that Little Kunze home? I’ve heard Eldest Miss Tan from Tan Manor isn’t exactly a pushover. Watch your neck!” Madam Yu jabbed Jiang Yan’s forehead with considerable force.
“Ouch, ouch, I know, I know! I’m here to deal with her, Mother. Stop hitting me! You’ll make me stupid!” Jiang Yan said this with genuine sincerity.
“Hmph, you’d better!” Madam Yu withdrew her hand.
“They say a wife resembles her mother-in-law. If you hadn’t been strutting around the house like a peacock all these years, why would I have ended up marrying Eldest Miss Tan?” Sometimes, old sayings hold true—they’re conclusions forged through countless trials.
“You’re the one who became a live-in husband! Don’t try to shift the blame onto me now!” Madam Jiang interjected, defending Madam Yu. If Jiang Yan returned to Tan Manor, where would she go?
“Mother,” Jiang Yan greeted her.
“Hmm, good to see you back. Remember, even if you’re a live-in husband at Tan Manor, you must never forget where your roots lie!” Madam Jiang spat Prime Minister Tan’s name through gritted teeth.
“Yes… I understand, Mother.”
“Good.”
“Oh, by the way, where’s Jiaojiao? I need to speak with her.”
“She’s in the back courtyard. Go deal with her quickly,” Madam Yu snapped, her face dark with displeasure.
Jiang Yan mourned for three minutes over the Original Host’s double-whammy of a dysfunctional family environment.
“Miss, a representative from Wu Ji Trading Company is here to request an audience!” Ying Hong announced to Tan Qianyue, who was eating breakfast.
“We have no business dealings with Wu Ji. Why would they send someone here?”
“They said they have information for you regarding… Miss Jiang.”
“Tell them to wait in the front hall!”
“Yes, Miss!”
Tan Qianyue finished her meal and went to meet the male Kunze, who was from the Wu Ji manager’s household.
“What is it? Speak!” Tan Qianyue had never had any dealings with them before.
“It’s like this: my husband accidentally saw Miss Jiang, the Tan Manor’s consort, bringing a little Kunze from the Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion back to the manor. I thought I should inform you, Miss, so you wouldn’t be taken advantage of without realizing it.” The male Kunze spoke with great detail, even embellishing the story.
“Brought back to the manor? Your husband must have mistaken someone. There’s no such person in Tan Manor!” Tan Qianyue realized who he was referring to.
“She was taken back to Jiang Manor, not Prime Minister Tan’s residence!” The effeminate Male Kunze even patted his thigh for emphasis.
Hearing this, Tan Qianyue’s fingers tightened around her fan, though her expression remained calm and composed.
“This Miss understands. Thank you, Ying Hong. Here’s your reward!”
Tan Qianyue’s lips curved into a slight smile, but her eyes held a cold glint.
