Chapter 20: Why Did You Pull Your Hand Away from Mine?
The person who arrived was the clone that Jiang Jinheng had released when entering the Secret Realm. Cang Yu looked at her as if he had seen a ghost; the lips of the burly man were nearly white with fear.
He looked at Mo Tong, who was half-dead in the pit, and swallowed hard. For the first time, he felt resentment towards him. His mind raced, trying to figure out how to smooth over this situation.
But Fu Yi was lying there, delicate and vulnerable, covered in injuries, with bl00d on her face. The talisman pasted on her forehead hadn’t even fully taken effect yet, and Mo Tong had just attempted to kill her with his sword. This couldn’t be explained away even with ten mouths.
Jiang Jinheng ignored Cang Yu and simply crouched down in front of Fu Yi. Looking at the small face covered in bl00d and grime, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache. Jiang Jinheng didn’t rush to cast a spell. She simply removed the talisman from Fu Yi’s forehead, raised her hand, and took her pulse.
Even though she was mentally prepared, sensing her racing pulse, Jiang Jinheng couldn’t help but feel a surge of murderous intent. She channeled a stream of spiritual energy into Fu Yi’s body to warm and nourish her heart meridian, then used spiritual energy to scan her eyes and examine the extent of her physical injuries.
The spiritual-energy-covered eyes paused slightly upon seeing a cluster of fire in her Dantian but moved away quickly.
When Jiang Jinheng separated her clone, she hadn’t thought everything through. She hadn’t included any talismans, elixirs, or anything else. Her body was now empty, but she knew Cang Yu must have some.
Thinking this, the sharp gaze turned toward Cang Yu. Jiang Jinheng saw him looking hesitant, unsure of what to say, and spoke coldly: “Hand over all the talismans, elixirs, and secret treasures you carry, then take your disciple and scram.”
Cang Yu was momentarily surprised that Jiang Jinheng only requested this. After all, in his memory, his little martial aunt was always kind-hearted but extremely protective of her own and would exact revenge for the smallest grievance.
But what he didn’t know was that for Jiang Jinheng, Mo Tong couldn’t be killed yet, otherwise, she truly would have torn him limb from limb.
Even so, Cang Yu still felt a sharp pain in his wallet. He had prepared extensively for this Secret Realm, bringing many bl00d-solidifying and essence-cultivating elixirs, and talismans to deal with high-level fierce beasts. He had even brought two Earth-rank magical artifacts.
One was a defensive treasure that could withstand one full-power blow from a cultivator in the Mahayana stage who had exhausted all their spiritual energy; the other could temporarily raise a person’s cultivation by one major realm for the duration of a stick of incense, with the side effect of experiencing excruciating bone-breaking pain afterward.
The materials for these two treasures had taken him nearly ten years to gather. Had Mo Tong not insisted on causing this trouble, he wouldn’t have to hand over these items to atone.
Jiang Jinheng accepted the thick storage ring that Cang Yu tossed over, scanned it with her divine sense, and was satisfied. However, seeing him hurriedly pull Mo Tong out of the pit still left her annoyed.
Although Mo Tong was unconscious, the Wind-Breaking Sword tightly grasped in his hand was restless. A sword spirit’s mind is generally like that of a child; it follows the conduct of its owner, and few sword spirits have independent thoughts.
A spiritual sword must draw bl00d once unsheathed. Mo Tong had been intent on killing Fu Yi, and even though he was unconscious, his intent had not dissipated. Thus, just as Cang Yu stepped forward to help Mo Tong up, the Wind-Breaking Sword, which was half-crushed beneath him, flew up and stabbed toward Fu Yi.
Jiang Jinheng frowned. It had been a long time since she had seen such a stupid sword spirit. With a slight raise of her hand, she pinched the blade between two fingers. Her gaze turned back to Mo Tong, and her annoyance found an outlet for release.
“I almost forgot about you.”
Saying that, she swiftly turned the sword and threw it. The blade, which cut metal like mud, plunged straight into the connection between Mo Tong’s right arm and shoulder. A scream of agony erupted from the still-unconscious man, and his entire right arm fell off, splattering bl00d onto Cang Yu’s face.
Cang Yu glared at Jiang Jinheng, enraged but daring not to speak. Now without any elixirs, he grabbed a strip of cloth and sealed Mo Tong’s wound with spiritual energy to stop the bl00d from gushing out.
Watching the cloth slowly turn red with bl00d, Cang Yu finally dared to ask after a long pause: “Little Martial Aunt, what is the meaning of this?”
In response to his accusation, Jiang Jinheng only offered an indifferent smile, pointing to the severed arm lying on the muddy ground, her tone light: “Nothing much. I’ve changed my mind. You can take the person, but I want to keep this arm, to be disposed of by my disciple.”
“This! Little Martial Aunt, aren’t you afraid of him actually dying here and the Sect Master assigning blame and punishment later?”
A severed arm must be reattached by a skilled physician as quickly as possible, otherwise, with time, the severed arm will completely lose its vitality, and the wound will scab over, making a full recovery impossible. Elder Yao Qing, who was highly skilled in medicine, was with the team of Elders who entered the Secret Realm. Cang Yu had originally intended to take Mo Tong to find him to reattach the severed finger.
But now…
Perhaps anticipating the rogue actions they had just taken against her disciple, Jiang Jinheng only wanted to laugh at his words.
“If I truly intended to kill him, he wouldn’t have a chance to breathe. If you genuinely care for your disciple, quickly take him out of the Secret Realm. Don’t waste time here. If you delay any longer, I cannot guarantee he will have any chance of survival.”
During their conversation, the color of Mo Tong’s lips visibly whitened. Cang Yu saw his severe bl00d loss and, having no elixirs on him, realized that the best course of action was indeed to take him out of the Secret Realm for immediate medical attention.
As for the arm, given the current situation, his little martial aunt would clearly not budge. He would just have to see if he could find the materials later to reconstruct an arm for him.
It was just a shame about this rare opportunity in the Secret Realm.
Thinking this, Cang Yu glanced at Mo Tong, who was still unconscious but grimacing with large beads of sweat on his forehead, and shook his head helplessly. If this was his fortune (Jiyuan), and he didn’t value it himself, there was nothing he could do.
Finally and comfortably throwing off this burden, Cang Yu felt a slight relief in his heart. He took out a wooden plaque from Mo Tong’s sleeve and crushed it without hesitation. The plaque transformed into a ball of light that gradually expanded and enveloped the two of them. Then the golden light scattered, and the two vanished.
With their departure, the single, lonely severed arm on the ground looked even more prominent. Jiang Jinheng glanced at it again, and the fire in her heart subsided a little. Still worried about Fu Yi’s injuries, she carefully selected a few elixirs from the newly acquired storage ring and fed them to her.
Perhaps due to the Wangchuan Talisman, Fu Yi was still asleep. Jiang Jinheng condensed water in her hand to wipe her small face clean, then took her pulse again. The fractured meridians were automatically repairing themselves, and even the few broken ribs in her back were showing signs of mending.
“Tell me, why did you pull your hand away from mine?”
Jiang Jinheng murmured. Fearing she might be in pain, she channeled another stream of ice-attribute spiritual energy into her body, enveloping the wounds to provide some pain relief.
But just as Jiang Jinheng finished this and was about to carry Fu Yi on her back to find her main body, she suddenly realized that this clone body felt much weaker—a sign of forced recall.
Jiang Jinheng immediately felt a bad omen. She quickly hid Fu Yi inside a hollow tree, cast a barrier around her, placed the storage ring she got from Cang Yu on her thumb, and then left with peace of mind.
But the moment she turned her back, the person behind her opened her eyes.
