- Chapter 4 - The Green Dragon Is Slain
After eating five skewers of diced steak, I started to get tired of the taste. So I decided to save the remaining five for later.
Walking also became a chore. Even in another world, mountain paths are just as exhausting.
And worst of all—I couldn’t find the Green Dragon anywhere.
Instead, I got ambushed by a pack of Mountain Wolves.
These weren’t pushovers.
In the game, encountering Mountain Wolves without leveling up first usually meant a full party wipe.
“Well, at least they might be worth a little cash.”
I rotated a black magic circle across the forest floor, releasing dark matter to activate Dark God Sorcery: Apple.
This magic allows me to interfere with the world’s physical laws—and the easiest one to manipulate is:
Gravity.
“Gravity Bind: Black Hoedown.”
The wolves’ bodies suddenly sank, crushed by an invisible force like a giant foot.
Their bodies burst apart and vanished.
Using gravitational pull, I gathered the scattered loot—small magic stones.
Whoa. That’s actually really handy.
Still, this doesn’t even come close to the Green Dragon’s loot.
“Where is that Green Dragon…?”
This is where I really started to feel the difference from the game.
In the game, there’s a map showing your location and nearby enemies.
In reality? No such luck.
Dark God Sorcery: Apple doesn’t include wide-range detection, either.
If I had a demon minion bound to me, I could’ve had them scout ahead…
If only I could view the world from above—like a bird.
“…Wait a second.”
If I can use gravity to crush things, shouldn’t I be able to do the opposite?
That’s what I did in the game, after all.
I focused dark matter inward, the opposite of what I use for gravity compression.
“Anti-Gravity: Starflight Neverland.”
My feet left the ground.
Before I knew it, I was floating high above the trees.
“WOOOOOAAAAHHHH!!”
It felt like being underwater—completely weightless.
But flailing my arms or kicking my legs only threw off my balance.
“This is bad! This is really, really scary!”
It was like free-falling without a parachute.
But the moment I focused on the dark matter inside me as a source of lift, my body stabilized.
Turns out, controlling the floating effect is just a matter of mastering the gravitational magic.
After a few minutes, I could land and glide with ease.
And the view? Absolutely stunning.
A vast, untouched natural world spread out beneath me.
So this is what birds get to see every day…
But then, an explosion echoed through the air, and a flash of light drew my attention.
A thick pillar of smoke was rising in the distance—definitely not normal.
“…Don’t tell me.”
I flew toward the smoke, just like a certain martial artist with flying powers.
As I approached, I saw adventurers fleeing in all directions, their faces pale with fear.
Things were so chaotic, they didn’t even notice someone from the Clan of the Dark God Klyphot flying through the sky.
Then I heard it—the deep, rumbling roar of a dragon.
It drowned out every other sound.
Looking down, I saw it:
A narrow pass between two towns… and a massive green dragon unleashing fire.
“Wow… seeing it in person, the Money-Making Dragon is even more terrifying.”
A group of adventurers had surrounded the dragon, casting high-level spells all at once.
A massive wave of fire surged around the Green Dragon—a truly epic sight.
But within the shimmering heat haze, the beast spread its wings.
With one flap, it summoned a fierce gust that sent the adventurers flying.
They looked like ants facing an elephant.
Their lives were being snuffed out far too easily.
“S-so this is an S-Rank monster…! We’re not strong enough—we can’t win!!”
Dozens of adventurers scattered in panic.
The Green Dragon didn’t chase them. Instead, it turned its gaze toward something else.
Drool dripped from its mouth as it stared at a small group of figures nearby.
Its next prey—
was a group of young boys and girls.
At the front was a girl around my age, holding a trembling sword.
Behind her, more children were huddled in fear.
Judging by their clothes, they weren’t adventurers—just civilians who had the bad luck of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
This isn’t good.
They’re trapped. There’s no way they can escape.
“Gravity Bind: Black Hoedown!”
And with that, I dove—straight toward the dragon.
This wasn’t just a normal fall.
This time, I had applied abnormal gravity to myself.
My body, which had just been lighter than air, was now heavier than a giant boulder.
As a result, I became a massive, high-impact projectile.
I crashed head-first into the completely unguarded skull of the Green Dragon—
BOOM. A deafening impact.
“Gugyaa—!”
I leapt off the dragon, whose head was now partially buried in the ground.
“S-s-s-so amazing…”
A girl around my age approached cautiously, awe written all over her face.
She had long, silky blonde hair, a delicate figure, and a face so refined it looked almost doll-like—though still touched by youth.
Compared to the smaller children behind her, she looked more like their big sister.
Wait… are those cat ears? Dog ears?
They’re beastkin. A race that, like the Clan of the Dark God Klyphot, is often persecuted.
“My name is Etica Lindwurm. Thank you so much for saving us. Are you… a legendary adventurer, by chance!?”
“Uh, well… I haven’t even registered as an adventurer yet.”
I was honestly surprised she didn’t open with, “Ugh, a Klyphot clan freak showed up…”
I didn’t know how to respond.
She was pretty cute—might even be a heroine character.
Since the story hadn’t properly started yet, everyone could be scattered all over the map.
Still… I didn’t remember anyone named Etica from the game or the source material.
But her last name, Lindwurm…
It sounded familiar. Where had I heard it before…?
Anyway, I should keep the conversation going.
“You’re not an adventurer, Etica?”
“No. I was trying to escort these children. We were almost sold off to slave traders. I have to get them back to their families!”
Etica looked over at the beastkin kids, who were glaring at me with pure suspicion.
Given what they’d likely endured, being treated like products, that level of hostility was understandable.
On the other hand, they clung tightly to Etica like she was their mother.
Looks like she really did save them from the slave traders.
“But then we ran into the Green Dragon… I really thought it was all over.”
She glanced over at the dragon, whose head was still buried in the ground, and gave a look of relief.
Judging by her reaction, she probably didn’t know about the Soul of the Bountiful Dragon—the loot that could make someone a millionaire.
She didn’t seem the least bit interested in its drop items.
That said, it hadn’t dropped anything yet.
Which meant—
The Green Dragon was still alive.
“GRRROOOOOAAAAARRRR!!”
“Eep!”
With a roar, the dragon lifted its head from the ground.
Etica trembled more than even the children.
Its bloodshot eyes locked onto us as it opened its jaws.
Flames began to gather in its mouth—like a second sun forming.
This was the same ultimate attack that, in-game, could melt walls, wipe out magical barriers, and vaporize players in an instant.
“E-everyone!! Get behind me! Hurry!! You too, mister!!”
“…I should hide too?”
“Y-yes!! Better I die alone than everyone else die with me!!”
No way. I wasn’t about to hide behind someone clearly panicking.
I stepped forward instead.
After all, this was an S-Rank monster—meant to be a late-game boss with a monstrous HP pool.
I knew it wouldn’t go down that easily.
“It’s okay. The Green Dragon’s already defeated.”
That’s why I called in the real finisher ahead of time.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“Alright, kids—stay behind me. It’s going to get dangerous.”
Once I made sure everyone was behind me, I began preparing.
This spell was hard to control.
If I wasn’t careful, even Etica and the children might get caught in it.
To prevent that, I created a gravitational barrier to protect them.
Ahead of me, I saw the Green Dragon’s jaws fully opened, its “sun” of destruction nearly complete.
But before it could finish—
The thing I had summoned using gravity would arrive faster.
Something falling from space.
“Meteorfall: Let’s Small World.”
And then—
A meteor slammed directly into the Green Dragon.
Support "SINCE I’M JUST THE VILLAIN WHO’LL BE DEFEATED BY THE PROTAGONIST ANYWAY, I’LL GO ALL OUT AND DO WHATEVER I WANT USING FORBIDDEN ARTS AT FULL POWER UNTIL THEN! …WAIT, WHAT?
