- Chapter 1 - The CEO’s Delicate Little White Lotus (Part 1)
It was midnight. The stars were sparse, the bright moon hung high above, and a gentle breeze brushed past a row of frost-dusted pines and cypresses.
On a sofa bathed in soft white light lay a beautiful woman, her body curled slightly.
Her long, waterfall-like hair cascaded over her fair neck. She wore an elegant, peach-gold robe that clung softly to her skin. From the wide sleeves peeked a slender wrist, so delicate it looked like it could snap with the slightest twist. The layers of cold moonlight reflected off her skin, glowing with a smooth, porcelain-like luster.
As an overwhelming wave of foreign knowledge was forcibly implanted in her mind, Yu Liuxue frowned, her crescent-shaped brows tightening. Her body instinctively curled up. The flowing hem of her dress trailed down her smooth legs and pooled onto the floor, scattering like sunlight across the room.
The door clicked open. Footsteps approached, growing louder. The person seemed to notice the uncomfortable woman lying on the sofa, paused briefly, then walked past her without a word and disappeared upstairs.
“System,” Yu Liuxue opened her eyes. One leg hung loosely off the side of the sofa. A silver anklet wrapped around her slender ankle jingled softly as she moved. She lazily picked up the silk ribbon around her waist, twirling it around her finger. Her round, pink toes moved slightly as she slipped her foot into a pair of grey slippers. Standing up, she shuffled around the room slowly and asked casually, “What’s the supporting character’s wish this time?”
“To stop the female lead, Lin Qingyin, from ending up with Yao Yishu.”
Yu Liuxue paused for a moment, surprised by the simplicity of the task. Then she spoke lazily, “I told you not to bother me with these petty little things.”
The person who made this wish was Qingwu, the only daughter of the Du family in Nancheng. Twenty years ago, the Du family and the Yao family were equal in power, so their children were betrothed from a young age. But as time passed, the Du family fell into decline while the Yao family rose to power and now held considerable influence in Nancheng. Eventually, the Yao family pressured the Du family to dissolve the engagement, and the Du family had no choice but to agree.
Not long after the engagement was broken, Qingwu discovered that her former fiancé, Yao Yishu, was passionately pursuing Lin Qingyin, the cold and elegant goddess of the entertainment industry. Lin Qingyin had become a household name in just three years. Though her family background was unclear, rumors suggested she came from a powerful military, political, or government background. No one knew the truth, but speculation was endless.
News that the infamous playboy Yao Yishu had changed his ways and was wholeheartedly chasing Lin Qingyin spread like wildfire. When Qingwu accidentally overheard this from her assistant, jealousy consumed her. She rushed to Lin Qingyin’s filming set, trying to confront her. Unfortunately, she was caught by paparazzi who had been stalking Lin Qingyin for gossip. That evening, the photos went viral, and Qingwu’s image as a sweet and obedient woman completely collapsed.
Things only got worse. When Yao Yishu learned what Qingwu had done, he immediately blacklisted her. For a long time, Qingwu was shelved by her agency. She couldn’t get any work, couldn’t make money, and eventually couldn’t even pay rent or utilities. She was evicted by her landlord, and the scandal was spread maliciously online. Unable to bear the pain of both romantic and career failure, Qingwu jumped into a river on a cold and bitter night.
In the moment she hit the water, she was filled with regret. If she could live her life over again, she would make Lin Qingyin pay for stealing her man.
After skimming through the background story of this world, Yu Liuxue couldn’t help but complain, “This girl must have something wrong with her head. Obviously, it was Yao Yishu who was the jerk.”
Still, she noticed that three years ago, the original host had worked with Lin Qingyin. During that time, Lin Qingyin had publicly expressed her appreciation for her.
But Yu Liuxue believed it was probably just a polite compliment. Lin Qingyin likely admired the original host’s work ethic and professionalism, nothing more.
Just as she finished mumbling to herself, there was movement at the stairs again.
Lin Qingyin had removed her makeup and was now wearing a silk pajama set. She stepped down the stairs in white slippers, her delicate face glowing under the lights. She leaned lightly against the handrail, looking down with a cool and distant expression. Her dark eyes were like the night sky—deep and unreadable. Yu Liuxue was instantly frozen by that gaze.
Suddenly, Yu Liuxue clutched her chest in pain and squatted down. Her elbow rested on the sofa while her knees hit the cold floor. Sweat beaded on her forehead. She gripped the front of her peach-gold dress, her pink lips slightly parted as she gasped. Even while acting, she didn’t forget to confirm the mission.
“As long as I stop Lin Qingyin and Yao Yishu from getting together, it doesn’t matter how I do it, right?”
The system hesitated briefly before answering in her mind, “Correct.”
That settled it.
Sorry, Yao Yishu. Your female lead may be great, but she belongs to me now.
The woman in front of the sofa looked pale and unwell. Her fair fingers clenched into a tight fist. As Lin Qingyin passed by, she paused. Yu Liuxue immediately looked up as if grabbing onto a lifeline. Her voice was faint and weak.
“Qingyin…”
Hearing her name suddenly spoken, Lin Qingyin’s brows twitched almost imperceptibly.
Yu Liuxue reached out to her. Her voice was barely audible.
“Qingyin, I feel sick…”
The system stayed silent for a moment.
What kind of illness is this supposed to be?
At the moment, Lin Qingyin and Qingwu were filming a reality show together. Though there were few staff members inside the villa, cameras were set up all around. Lin Qingyin looked at her for a few seconds before crouching in front of her.
“Where’s your medicine?”
“In… in my suitcase,” Yu Liuxue whispered. Then, her body went limp as she leaned forward, wrapping herself around Lin Qingyin’s neck. Her chin rested gently against Lin Qingyin’s pale neck, and her warm breath stirred a strand of soft hair near Lin Qingyin’s ear.
Lin Qingyin’s body tensed. She clearly hadn’t expected the woman who had ignored her all day to suddenly throw herself into her arms.
She crouched stiffly for a long moment, then glanced down at Yu Liuxue with an unreadable expression. Her lips pressed into a subtle line.
“I’ll carry you upstairs to rest.”
Lin Qingyin slid one arm behind Yu Liuxue’s knees and easily lifted her. The delicate pink fabric of her dress dragged along the marble floor as Lin Qingyin carried her up the stairs. They disappeared around the corner.
Yu Liuxue leaned sweetly into Lin Qingyin’s chest like a gentle bird. Her slender fingers tugged at the collar of Lin Qingyin’s loose pajama top. As it slipped, a patch of soft white skin beneath her collarbone was revealed.
Lin Qingyin looked down. Yu Liuxue stopped her movement and spoke weakly to distract her.
“Qingyin, I feel terrible.”
Lin Qingyin kicked open the door. She gently placed Yu Liuxue on the bed and looked at her pale face.
“Where does it hurt?” she asked softly.
“Here.” Yu Liuxue took her hand and placed it over her chest.
Lin Qingyin’s hand was slender and cool. The warmth of Yu Liuxue’s body seeped through the fabric to her fingertips. Yu Liuxue let out a soft sigh, sounding as if she were both comforted and pleased. She lay on her side, her delicate ankle slipping from under her skirt and gently brushing against Lin Qingyin’s leg.
“Qingyin, will you stay with me for a while?”
“I don’t want to be alone.”
Lin Qingyin’s palm was resting against something soft, and she could feel the rapid heartbeat underneath. Her expression froze for a moment as she studied the woman before her with a complicated gaze.
Qingwu had signed with the largest entertainment agency in the country. Her popularity was soaring. Although Lin Qingyin did not view Qingwu as a true competitor, she couldn’t deny the stunning impact of her appearance.
Her gently arched brows curved like distant mountains, and her expressive eyes shimmered with emotion. Beneath her delicate, well-shaped nose, her cherry-pink lips looked soft and moist, like flower petals kissed by dew.
The luxurious costume she wore added to her noble and charming aura. A subtle trace of seduction flickered across her flawless, elegant face.
Lin Qingyin lost focus for a moment before calmly pulling her hand away.
“I’ll go get your medicine,” she said softly.
Qingwu’s suitcase was in the corner of the room. The zipper had been left open. After asking for her permission, Lin Qingyin searched through it under her guidance. There was no medicine to be found, but what she did uncover were stacks of light-hearted romance novels.
Lin Qingyin stared at the garish covers at the bottom of the suitcase. Titles like Spicy Little Girl: The Pure Wife of the School Hunk, Genius Baby: Daddy, Please Go Away, and Cold Young Master’s Obsession: Woman, You Are Playing with Fire filled the space. For a moment, Lin Qingyin wasn’t sure whether to laugh at the books or at Qingwu.
Without a word, Lin Qingyin covered them with some clothes.
“There’s nothing here. Did you forget to bring it?”
When she turned around, she was met with Yu Liuxue’s sparkling puppy eyes. Yu Liuxue looked deeply disappointed as she saw Lin Qingyin quietly covering the novels. Her voice was soft and weak.
“I’m sure I packed it…”
Before she could finish, Yu Liuxue lay back down on the bed. Clutching her chest in an exaggeratedly fragile manner, she turned to face away from Lin Qingyin.
“Qingyin, I feel like I’m about to die.”
The system was silent for a long moment.
If the Oscars don’t give you Best Actress, it’s truly their loss.
Lin Qingyin had nothing to say. The room fell completely silent.
Yu Liuxue perked up her ears, listening carefully. She soon heard the soft sound of footsteps and the rustling of clothes as someone slowly approached. A faint breath brushed past her ear.
Yu Liuxue closed her eyes and continued the act.
“Qingyin, are you still there?” she murmured, her tone full of longing.
“Qingwu,” Lin Qingyin called her name quietly, deliberately lowering her voice.
There was a hint of probing in her tone.
Yu Liuxue’s ears twitched. Without opening her eyes, she felt Lin Qingyin leaning in close and speaking softly beside her ear. Her voice was calm but hoarse with emotion.
“It’s been a long time. Are you doing all this just to get my attention?”
Her tone was light, but there was certainty hidden in the final note.
Yu Liuxue stiffened slightly. Then she quickly masked it with a sickly expression, turning over to face Lin Qingyin. Her gaze was confused as she looked up at the woman leaning over her bedside.
“Qingyin, what are you talking about?”
“I don’t understand.”
Lin Qingyin’s lips curved ever so slightly in a silent smile.
Then, without any warning, she lowered her head and gently kissed Yu Liuxue’s soft lips.
“Do you understand now?”
