The Villainess Is Pretending to Be Sweet Again Today (Transmigration) - Chapter 49
Ever since Nuo Yang found out about the birthday gift Long Huaichang received from her deceased father, she hadn’t been feeling too great.
She was supposed to be the rich one here…
Sitting on the sofa with her knees hugged to her chest, Nuo Yang watched as Long Huaichang mopped the living room floor. Guazi had always loved the way the mop slid across the floor, so sometimes when it was in a good mood, it would plop its butt right on top and let Long Huaichang push it around like a little ride.
This was the third time today that Long Huaichang had shooed Guazi away to start mopping all over again.
Seeing that its little “airplane” was no longer available, Guazi trotted over to Nuo Yang with a disgruntled look and plopped down beside her. Nuo Yang immediately felt the sofa sink under the sudden weight, the spot where the cat sat noticeably dented.
Nuo Yang: “…”
Had this cat gotten even fatter??
They say nine out of ten orange tabbies are overweight, and the tenth is exceptionally fat. Nuo Yang suspected hers was that exceptionally fat one.
She reached out and picked Guazi up, settling it in her lap to assess. Yep—definitely heavier. Its paws pressing into her stomach actually hurt.
Noticing Nuo Yang playing with Guazi, Long Huaichang reminded her, “Sis, its paws are dirty—it just came back from outside.”
“What’s the big deal?” Nuo Yang chuckled, looking down at Guazi’s chubby face. “Cats are clean creatures anyway.”
Just then, Guazi lifted a paw and smacked it right onto Nuo Yang’s white dress, leaving a dusty little paw print behind.
Nuo Yang: “…”
This damn cat!!!
Seeing Nuo Yang immediately shove Guazi off, Long Huaichang knew the cat must have dirtied her clothes again and walked over.
“Go wash your paws right now!” Nuo Yang scolded, pointing at Guazi.
Guazi flicked its tail and scampered off.
Long Huaichang glanced at the tiny paw print on Nuo Yang’s dress and smiled. “It’s just dust, sis. A little patting will get it off.”
Nuo Yang tried brushing at it, but the mark remained.
Long Huaichang stepped closer and took her hand, making Nuo Yang tense up instantly.
“Sis, sit down first,” Long Huaichang said, guiding her back onto the sofa. Then, bending slightly, she lifted the hem of Nuo Yang’s dress and said, “Let me help.”
Nuo Yang’s nose was filled with Long Huaichang’s scent. The girl’s black hair brushed against her nose and shoulders, tickling and fragrant…
“N-No need.”
Remembering what had happened the other day, Nuo Yang shifted uncomfortably. “It’s fine if the dress is dirty. I’ll wash it later.”
Unfazed, Long Huaichang leaned in closer and murmured, “Don’t move, sis.”
Nuo Yang froze obediently, watching as Long Huaichang rubbed at the hem of her dress. Soon, the gray paw print faded significantly—barely noticeable unless inspected closely.
Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, Long Huaichang glanced up at Nuo Yang and smiled. “All done.”
Nuo Yang’s face flushed instantly. She pushed Long Huaichang away and stood up. “Attorney Chen will be here soon. Don’t do anything weird.”
Long Huaichang looked up at her. “I’ve always helped you like this before. Why is it weird now?”
Nuo Yang’s face burned red. Long Huaichang wasn’t wrong—they’d done much more intimate things in the past. But back then, Nuo Yang had never thought anything of it. Now, though…
Now, every time she closed her eyes, she saw Long Huaichang from that night…
During the day, Nuo Yang couldn’t help wondering what Long Huaichang was up to.
At work, she kept staring at her phone, and at home, she was all ears for any movement. This feeling of being constantly on edge was driving her crazy.
Seeing Nuo Yang blushing and silent, Long Huaichang leaned in closer. “Sis, what are you thinking about right now?”
Nuo Yang’s ears turned red. “None of your damn business!”
With that, she turned and ran off without even putting on her shoes.
By the time Lawyer Chen arrived, Nuo Yang had already changed into fresh clothes.
Lawyer Chen came alone today and seemed much more at ease when he saw Nuo Yang. Swinging his car keys, he said, “All set? The place we’re heading to today is pretty far, so we’ll have lunch there.”
They were going to handle the property transfer for Long Huaichang. Since Lawyer Chen didn’t get along with her, he dragged Nuo Yang along—after all, she had nothing better to do.
When no one responded, Lawyer Chen glanced at the two of them.
Nuo Yang stood to the side with her hands behind her back, clearly in a bad mood, while Long Huaichang remained expressionless, giving nothing away.
Being the gossip he was, Lawyer Chen immediately focused on Nuo Yang and whispered, “Did you two have a fight?”
Nuo Yang gritted her teeth. “No, we’re perfectly fine.”
Lawyer Chen clicked his tongue. “You look like you want to strangle her—that’s ‘perfectly fine’?”
Nuo Yang sighed. “You wouldn’t understand.”
He wouldn’t understand what it felt like to have Long Huaichang occupying every thought in her mind.
Noticing her troubled expression, Lawyer Chen reassured her, “Don’t worry, there’s plenty of fun stuff for you at the Red Light District.”
Nuo Yang perked up immediately. “Like what?”
Lawyer Chen grinned. “There’s a mini casino, dance halls, adult entertainment clubs—what do you think you’d enjoy?”
Nuo Yang’s eyes sparkled. “Isn’t that illegal?”
Lawyer Chen explained, “As long as it’s through legal channels and done properly, it’s fine. But blatant high-end prostitution like what Long Yingjun was running? That’ll get shut down for sure.”
Nuo Yang blinked excitedly. “So, I can go play by myself later?”
“Of course. I’ve already talked to the manager there. Just flash your VIP pass, and you can do whatever you want.”
“Great!”
Long Huaichang watched the two of them from a distance, noting how Nuo Yang’s eyes were practically sparkling. She knew it couldn’t be anything good.
The last time she’d seen that look was before Punk Night.
After a moment’s thought, Long Huaichang figured it out. Her sister had all the desire but none of the nerve—she’d freeze up at the sight of a pretty girl, yet remained completely indifferent to her.
Was she not pretty enough?
If she went to a nightclub, she’d definitely be the star attraction!
Annoyed, Long Huaichang snapped, “When are we leaving?”
Lawyer Chen laughed. “Right now!”
The three of them got into the car cheerfully. Nuo Yang sat in the passenger seat, chatting with Lawyer Chen and eagerly anticipating their arrival at the Red Light District.
Meanwhile, Long Huaichang sat in the back, her face dark and silent.
Lawyer Chen, much more relaxed on his own, teased her. “Why the long face, Huaichang? You’re about to become a millionaire—shouldn’t you be the most excited one here?”
Long Huaichang propped her head up and glanced at Nuo Yang, whose eyes were sparkling, then snorted, “I’m not a child anymore.”
The implication was clearly directed at the person in the passenger seat, swaying their head to the music.
But that person completely missed the hint and cheerfully opened the sunroof, saying, “This car looks great! Once I learn how to drive, I’ll buy one too!”
Buy, buy, buy—what’s the point of getting another car when she already has one?
Long Huaichang curled her lips and muttered, “It’s not even that great of a car.”
Lawyer Chen awkwardly closed the sunroof and shot Nuo Yang a look. “The kid’s in a bad mood, so behave yourself.”
Nuo Yang shot back a glance. “You must be mistaken—she’s had that sour face since we left the house.”
When they arrived at, Nuo Yang couldn’t believe her eyes.
The place was like a scenic resort, complete with mountains and water, and in the distance, she could see the towering Ferris wheel and roller coasters of an amusement park. The entrance was bustling with tourists and tour groups, giving it the vibe of a city that never slept.
Lawyer Chen parked the car and turned to Nuo Yang and the others. “This place is always packed. It’s got its own business model, so after Huaichang took over, she barely needed to oversee anything—the managers here are very reliable.”
Nuo Yang gazed at the well-decorated buildings around them and sighed. “This must have cost a fortune, right?”
Lawyer Chen chuckled. “Absolutely. Mu Jiazhao has been trying to acquire this place for ages, but she never found out who the owner was.”
Hearing the familiar name, Long Huaichang turned her attention toward them. “You mean Mu Jiazhao didn’t know?”
“Of course not,” Lawyer Chen explained. “As resourceful as she is, there are some things even she can’t uncover.”
Especially considering what their law firm specialized in.
The three of them chatted as they took the elevator up. The general manager was already waiting in the hotel lobby. Spotting Lawyer Chen leading the group in, he immediately stepped forward to shake Nuo Yang’s hand. “Miss Long! I’ve been waiting for you!”
Long Huaichang swiftly pulled Nuo Yang back, leaving the man grasping at air.
General Manager: “???”
Lawyer Chen quickly clarified, “You’ve got the wrong person—this is Miss Long.”
“Oh! My apologies!” The general manager hurriedly turned to Long Huaichang, though his expression faltered slightly at her youthful face. “Young miss, what grade are you in?”
Long Huaichang replied coldly, “Second year of high school.”
General Manager: “…”
Good lord, she was even younger than his own daughter.
But appearances could be deceiving, and the general manager was sharp enough not to say anything disrespectful. Instead, he quickly ushered them in. “Please follow me, young miss. I’ve prepared all the necessary documents for you.”
Nuo Yang stayed rooted in place. Long Huaichang glanced at her and said to the general manager, “This is my sister. Have someone show her around—it’s her first time here.”
“Of course.” The general manager waved over an elegant-looking woman. “Take this young lady on a tour. Let her enjoy herself—make sure she’s well taken care of, understood?”
The woman nodded with a smile. “Understood.”
As she was about to leave, Long Huaichang motioned for her to come closer.
“While you’re with my sister,” Long Huaichang whispered, “don’t let her interact with anyone—male or female.”
The woman smiled. “Got it.”
Long Huaichang also said, “Pay attention to those pretty waitresses—don’t let them touch anyone.”
The woman: “……??????”
What the—??
