The Villainess Is Pretending to Be Sweet Again Today (Transmigration) - Chapter 55
The woman sitting across from her looked at Nuo Yang with surprise and asked cautiously, “Aren’t you and our boss…?”
“I’m her sister,” Nuo Yang explained, her face turning red. “There’s no other relationship.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding,” the woman said awkwardly with a laugh. “It’s just that the way our boss looks at you is different from how she looks at others, so I thought maybe you two were…”
Nuo Yang scratched her cheek. “We really don’t have that kind of relationship…”
Long Huaichang looks at me differently??
Nuo Yang couldn’t help but recall—hasn’t that girl always looked at her the same way?
Those dark eyes blinking, then pursing her lips to softly call her “sister.”
Looking so well-behaved and sensible.
Nuo Yang wondered if she had given the girl some kind of signal, making the newly adult girl always cling to her.
Lunch was arranged lavishly, but Nuo Yang was the only one eating.
“The boss is still discussing matters with the manager and probably won’t be done until the afternoon,” the woman said as she had the waiter serve the meal.
Though puzzled, Nuo Yang didn’t dwell on it. If she was busy, then so be it—she could wait. But she didn’t expect to wait until well past five in the afternoon.
The bus back to the city had already stopped running. Nuo Yang tentatively asked several times, only to be told that they were still in discussions and she should wait a little longer.
Dinner was also at the hotel. Since it was a tourist spot, the place was bustling with people. After eating in the restaurant, Nuo Yang began thinking about how to get back.
Would it be easy to hail a cab?
Just then, her phone on the table rang. She picked it up and saw a message from Long Huaichang:
Long Huaichang: Sister, where are you now?
Nuo Yang moved her fingers to reply: Eating in the restaurant. When are we going home?
Long Huaichang: Probably not today. The manager has arranged rooms for us. I’ll come down to find you soon.
Nuo Yang’s heart skipped a beat—could it be a couples’ suite?
Long Huaichang: What’s wrong? Don’t you want to stay the night here?
Nuo Yang: How many rooms?
Long Huaichang: …How many does sister want?
Nuo Yang: What do you think?
Long Huaichang: Wait for me, sister. I’ll be right down.
Nuo Yang stared at the message, but no matter how she prodded, Long Huaichang didn’t reply, leaving her frustrated.
Just as she sighed and hugged her phone, she felt someone pull out the chair opposite her and sit down.
Thinking it was Long Huaichang, Nuo Yang looked up and said, “How many rooms did you book?”
The newcomer froze, then behind large sunglasses, a stifled laugh emerged as they lazily said, “Little lady, are you asking me to share a room with you?”
Only then did Nuo Yang realize the person sitting across from her was the celebrity who had filmed the MV that morning. Although she’d been in this book world for quite some time, she wasn’t much of a star chaser.
Facing a stranger after saying something like that, Nuo Yang felt rather awkward and quickly explained, “Sorry, I thought you were my sister.”
“You have a sister?” The girl became even more interested, leaning halfway across the table. “Are you here with your sister for fun, miss?”
“Well… not exactly for fun. We have some business to take care of.”
“Ohhh~”
The girl straightened up with a smile. “I can’t stay out too long. Let’s exchange contact info—we can keep in touch when we’re free.”
Nuo Yang felt uneasy about someone asking for her contact so directly but didn’t know how to refuse. Under the girl’s urging, she added her as a friend.
“Just put my name as the note,” the girl said, tapping Nuo Yang’s phone. “I really think we have a connection. Maybe we’ll run into each other again.”
Only after the girl put on her hat and left did Nuo Yang glance down at the name—Xi Qingwei.
Ah, the one who often appears in commercials.
Nuo Yang vaguely recalled her.
But why would a celebrity like that add her as a friend? Nuo Yang couldn’t quite figure it out.
Before she could dwell on it, a dark shadow loomed over the table. Looking up, she saw Long Huaichang standing beside her, the manager still trailing behind.
“Sis, what are you doing?” Long Huaichang glanced at Nuo Yang’s phone, which displayed nothing but the default wallpaper.
“Nothing much,” Nuo Yang said, putting her phone away. “Have you eaten?”
“A little.” Long Huaichang grinned. “Let’s head to our rooms first, sis.”
Nuo Yang hesitated. “How many rooms did you book?”
The manager opened her mouth to speak, but Long Huaichang cut her off, flashing a mischievous look. “How many do you want me to book?”
Nuo Yang gritted her teeth. “What do you think?”
“Of course, I booked two.” Sensing that teasing her further might make Nuo Yang snap, Long Huaichang took her hand reassuringly. “It’s too late to go back tonight, so we’ll stay here. I’ll be in the room across from yours—just call if you need anything.”
As for what kind of “need”…
Long Huaichang didn’t elaborate, and Nuo Yang didn’t catch the implication, eyeing her suspiciously. She had a feeling this little troublemaker was up to no good.
The manager led them to their hotel rooms. The lavishly decorated hallway and ornate wall hangings gave the entire floor an upscale feel.
Pushing open the door, Nuo Yang was greeted by an enormous bed in a spotless room, the faint scent of freshness lingering in the air.
“Sis, it’s late—you should rest soon.” Long Huaichang lingered at the doorway. “I’ll head back to my room too.”
“Mm.”
Nuo Yang watched as Long Huaichang closed the door. Pressing her ear against it, she listened until she heard the opposite door open and shut. Only then did she excitedly toss her things onto the bed and rush to the floor-to-ceiling window, yanking the curtains open with a dramatic swish.
Beyond the expansive glass, a sea of neon lights stretched for miles. Perched on the city’s high ground, the hotel overlooked half the metropolis, its dazzling glow painting the night in vibrant hues.
Nuo Yang rarely saw such beautiful scenery. She took a few photos with her phone and posted them on her social media, casually marveling at the charm of the five-star hotel.
After taking a shower in her room, the steam left her face flushed red.
When she finally checked the time, she realized it was already 11 p.m. Blaming herself for soaking in the bath for too long, she thought that maybe she should install a similar round bathtub at home—it was incredibly comfortable.
Drying her hair, Nuo Yang yawned and crawled into bed. She was exhausted from the day’s activities and could barely keep her eyes open.
She wondered if her chubby cat at home had eaten properly…
Nuo Yang drifted off to sleep almost instantly, only to wake up again past 1 a.m.
The lights in the room were still on, stinging her eyes.
“Mmm…”
She sat up in bed, running a hand through her slightly damp hair, which still felt uncomfortable.
After yawning, she went to the bathroom to blow-dry her hair, only to realize a pressing issue—she was starving.
1 a.m.
And hungry.
She hadn’t eaten much for dinner, and now the hunger was unbearable. Opening her phone to order takeout, she found everything was out of delivery range.
Nuo Yang sat on the bed, clutching her phone in silence: “…”
This was the city that never slept—how could there be no food available???
With that thought, she threw on her jacket and headed out, planning to explore downstairs for something to eat.
As she passed Long Huaichang’s door, she noticed faint sounds inside and a sliver of light seeping through. Nuo Yang frowned—she had already woken up from a nap, yet this person was still awake?
The door was slightly ajar. Nuo Yang cautiously pushed it open with her finger, and it slowly swung wider…
Long Huaichang was sitting at the desk, writing something. Hearing the door, she turned her head.
The two stared at each other for a moment before Nuo Yang finally spoke. “What are you doing up so late?”
She had half-expected to find a burglar in the room.
Long Huaichang glanced down at her test paper and replied, “I’m doing homework.”
Nuo Yang was puzzled. “Homework?”
“Yeah,” Long Huaichang continued writing. “The weekend assignments from my teacher. I haven’t even started.”
Peeking over, Nuo Yang saw two test papers spread across the desk—so she wasn’t lying.
But…
Who would’ve thought Long Huaichang would be in this situation?
Nuo Yang suddenly felt a sense of vindication. No matter how their relationship had been before, at least she was the one supporting Long Huaichang’s education. That had to count for something.
“Sis,” Long Huaichang noticed Nuo Yang’s faintly smug expression and asked, “Why are you up so late?”
“I’m hungry,” Nuo Yang admitted. “I didn’t eat much for dinner, and now I’m starving after waking up. I was looking for food.”
Long Huaichang pointed to the mini-fridge in the room. “There’s instant noodles in there. Want some?”
“Instant noodles?” Nuo Yang hesitated for a second before nodding eagerly. “Sure! I’ll go check mine too!”
She had noticed the mini-fridge earlier but didn’t realize it had anything inside.
As she turned to leave, Long Huaichang stopped her. “Wait, sis, don’t go yet.”
Nuo Yang looked at her, confused.
“I’m hungry too,” Long Huaichang said somewhat sheepishly. “Could you make me a bowl of instant noodles as well?”
Nuo Yang: “…You got it.”
The two of them sat around the small table waiting for their instant noodles to cook, their eyes practically glued to the bowls. Once the noodles were ready, they dug in eagerly—right now, filling their stomachs was all that mattered.
Long Huaichang still had several test papers left to complete. If he didn’t finish them, he’d probably get scolded at school again.
Though getting called into the teacher’s office was practically routine for him, it was still better to avoid it if possible.
When Long Huaichang finally finished the last math paper, she stretched and turned her gaze toward her bed.
Nuo Yang was curled up like a shrimp, hugging her own arms as she slept, her face completely unguarded.
Long Huaichang paused for a moment, then couldn’t help but smile.
This sister of hers—did she really not know she was tempting her like this?
