The Villainous Sister-in-law Mistakenly Marked as the Heroine (Transmigration) - Chapter 3
Lin Qile arrived at the underground parking garage and, following the memories in her mind, found the original owner’s car.
A luxury sports car.
The original owner had gotten her driver’s license at eighteen, and her mother, Lin Xinrou, had immediately gifted her a five-million-yuan limited-edition sports car. It was wrecked within a month, but Lin Xinrou didn’t hesitate to replace it with another one.
After reviewing the original owner’s relationships, Lin Qile couldn’t help but feel both affection and exasperation toward this mother.
She circled the sports car twice.
“It’s so expensive, I don’t dare drive it.”
Twirling the car keys in her hand, she headed toward the first floor instead.
She took a taxi to the hospital.
The moment she stepped out of the car, someone exclaimed, “Lin Qile, you actually took a taxi to the hospital instead of driving your flashy sports car? Don’t tell me, you’re here to steal knowledge too?”
After paying the fare, she turned to see two classmates holding notebooks and a medical record.
“Here for a checkup. Not feeling well.”
One of them narrowed their eyes. “You skip classes, don’t take exams, and now you’re really here to copy diagnoses?”
Medical students often struggled with assignments their professors gave them. Many would resort to visiting other hospitals, registering as patients, and meticulously recording the doctors’ diagnoses word for word.
It was practically a rite of passage for every med student.
“I really am here for a checkup.”
She walked closer, glanced at the notes in her classmate’s hands, and felt a sudden familiarity. Smiling, she asked, “Mind if I take a look?”
She wanted to see if the medicine in this world matched what she had studied in her own.
The classmate handed her the notebook.
Flipping through it, Perfect!
Everything was familiar.
Her mood instantly brightened. She took a pen, crossed out a few diagnostic notes, made corrections, and handed it back. “A student wouldn’t diagnose it like this. If you don’t fix it, the professor will spot it immediately.”
The two classmates took the notebook, looked it over, and stared at her in shock.
Since when did the perpetual slacker suddenly radiate the aura of a top student?!
“I really don’t feel well, so I’m going to see the doctor now. See you back at school.”
Waving at them, she headed toward the outpatient hall.
After registering, seeing the doctor, and explaining that she had accidentally taken an inducer for pheromones, she underwent tests and got an injection.
Once everything was done, she walked out, rubbing her sore arm.
Just as she was about to leave, she spotted Rong Jing striding toward the hospital entrance.
The woman had reverted to her untouchable ice queen demeanor wearing a sleek pantsuit that only a flawless figure could pull off, high heels, and sunglasses.
She walked with such commanding presence, not a trace left of the tearful, pleading temptress from before.
“Don’t tell me she regrets letting me go and is here for payback?”
Lin Qile muttered under her breath, quickly stepping back as her mind raced. Would a chase scene in the hospital end up on TV?
But Rong Jing entered the outpatient hall without even glancing her way, heading straight for the second floor instead.
She didn’t seem to be here for Lin Qile at all!
The second floor?
Lin Qile checked the directory.
Psychology Department. Infectious Diseases. Reproductive Medicine.
Her face twitched.
Those three departments felt oddly targeted.
Sure, the original owner had a terrible reputation, but was she really infectious?
“System, I have a question.”
[What is it?]
“Did the original owner have any infectious diseases?”
[No, why?]
Lin Qile speculated, “Then does Rong Jing have some kind of illness?”
[Host, you’re so clever! If you want answers, focus on completing tasks and accumulating reversal points. The system store has everything you need.]
Heh, thanks for painting me such a rosy picture, I’ll work hard!
Glancing toward the second-floor stairwell, she still chose to head for the main entrance.
Curiosity killed the cat!
She needed to stay alive!
Outpatient Department, Second Floor.
Reproductive Medicine.
After Rong Jing finished her impassive explanation, the friend sitting across from her lit up with excitement. “So, you’ve been marked?”
“He Yan, you’re a doctor wipe that gossipy look off your face!”
She shot her friend an annoyed glare.
Perhaps because she’d just been marked, the glare carried an unintentional allure. He Yan knew her friend was genuinely angry and didn’t dare push further. “Alright, alright.”
Clearing her throat to mask her awkwardness, He Yan stood up to fetch a syringe for Rong Jing’s bl00d draw, her expression now professional. “This must be the first time an alpha has affected your pheromones, right?”
“Mhm.”
Since puberty, this was indeed the first time.
“Are you sure they didn’t drug you? Some substances can stimulate glands but come with side effects.”
“Positive.”
She lowered her gaze, fingers tightening slightly on her lap. Drugging had indeed occurred except she was the one who’d drugged Lin Qile.
As her friend drew bl00d, Rong Jing’s eyes landed on an alpha and omega physiology chart on the desk.
“Could their pheromones have triggered yours?”
“Impossible. They’re not a particularly strong alpha their scent is completely ordinary.”
After the bl00d draw, the sample was handed to a nurse for testing.
Sitting across from each other again, He Yan spoke up. “It might be related to pheromone compatibility. I recommend getting tested with them if you get the chance. You’ve never had a heat cycle since development, and no alpha has ever influenced your pheromones. Over the years, your mom made you undergo every test your glands, genes, and bl00d are all normal. That leaves only one possibility.”
Rong Jing looked at her.
“Your pheromones are exclusionary.”
“Exclusionary?”
Rong Jing looked utterly bewildered.
He Yan explained, “Some alphas with overwhelming mental strength can exhibit overly dominant pheromones that’s been documented for years. Recently, another theory emerged: exceptionally strong alphas might reject ordinary omegas, only responding to specific pheromones. This is called exclusivity. The same applies to omegas.”
Rong Jing’s expression slowly cracked. “That idiot has strong mental power?”
He Yan was certain she saw disdain and fury flash across her friend’s face now that was rare.
Leaning in with a smirk, she asked, “Who exactly is this person who marked you?”
Rong Jing rolled her eyes. “You’re a doctor, not a paparazzo!”
“For you, I’ll play reporter just this once. Come on, Rong Rong, tell me~”
“Don’t call me that, it’s making me cringe.”
Rong Jing stood up, evading her friend with a frown. “An irrelevant person. Drop it. Even though omega conception is difficult, we should still take precautions.”
There was no way she’d have a child with Lin Qile.
Just imagining that fool’s offspring.
She shuddered.
Rong Jing talented, beautiful, and wealthy would never bear some idiot’s child!
“Fine, fine.”
When the bl00d test results came out, He Yan spoke up: “There’s nothing wrong with your body, no drug residues, and no injuries. If you ask me, since that person can trigger your heat cycle, why not give it a try with her? Just treat her as a medical tool!”
Be with Lin Qile?
At the thought of the other’s foolish appearance, her expression darkened further.
“Don’t give such terrible advice! I’m leaving!”
Rong Jing left the hospital in a foul mood. Standing by her car, she leaned forward slightly, panting. The soreness throughout her body hadn’t lessened with movement if anything, she felt even more exhausted.
Thinking of the culprit, she gritted her teeth: “Lin! Qi! Le!”
Driving home, Rong Jing was nearing her limit. After being tormented all night, she desperately needed proper sleep.
Just as she was about to head to her room, her mother Bai Jiao called out, “Rong Jing, come here. I need to talk to you.”
Gripping the stair railing, she lowered her head to conceal all discomfort before looking up. “Mom, what is it?”
In the living room, Bai Jiao reclined on the sofa, one maid massaging her while another manicured her nails. Once a top actress, Bai Jiao had been utterly pampered by Rong Yihua after marriage. Now fifty, she maintained the appearance of someone just past forty.
Rong Jing had never seen an alpha who spoiled their spouse more than her mother did.
“Mom.”
She sat on the opposite sofa.
Bai Jiao opened her eyes and looked at Rong Jing with mild reproach. “Your niece is getting married. How much longer do you plan to delay settling down?”
“Mom, I truly have no interest in marriage.”
“Nonsense! You’re an omega, how can you not marry? You’re twenty-eight already! Your niece Wannian is only twenty-two and getting married. Aren’t you ashamed?”
Rong Jing struggled to keep her tone even. “Do you think Wannian wants to marry Lin Qile? She doesn’t! Our Rong family isn’t short of money, Wannian should marry someone she loves!”
“What do you know? Marriage requires matching social status. Should we let Ning suffer with that pauper Ji Zhao?”
Not wanting to continue this familiar dead-end conversation, Rong Jing stood. “Mom, I need to get back to work. There’s still company matters.”
“Work, work is that all you think about?” Bai Jiao snapped. “Rong Yihua was a workaholic, and you mustn’t follow her example. I never should have agreed when she wanted to take you into the business. Look what you’ve become now.”
Rong Jing’s eyes darkened. “You think Mother teaching me business was corrupting? Without business, how could we afford your lifestyle?”
“Rong Jing!”
Bai Jiao’s voice turned shrill as she sat up, dismissing the maids. “Are you criticizing my spending now?”
Avoiding pointless conflict, Rong Jing took a deep breath and softened her voice. “Mom, I’m going to my room.”
She turned and went upstairs.
Collapsing onto her bed, she closed her eyes exhausted yet unable to sleep.
Sitting up, she pulled out Lin Qile’s number from her phone. She’d only saved it during Wannian and Lin Qile’s engagement ceremony when the shameless woman insisted, and social niceties prevented deletion.
Now it proved useful.
After sending a text, she tossed the phone aside and lay back down.
