The Virtuous Wife Lete Succumbs To Lascivious Venomous Fangs And Exposes Her Fallen True Self - Chapter 10
While the married woman, Lete, was offering her body to the lord, Baron Bart.
Her husband, Abram, was imprisoned in a dungeon on the lord’s estate.
The dungeon consisted of just a small stone room. A situation where large numbers of criminals would be captured was not expected in this small rural domain.
The prison was attached to the knights’ guardhouse, built in a way that allowed them to both relax and watch over prisoners. Hence, the knights who imprisoned the woodcutter Abram were also tasked with guarding him.
Abram called out to the knights.
“I will make my case. I want the taxes to return to their former state, and for the villagers to be protected from the dangerous creatures.”
“Shut up! I’m sick of hearing this!”
The knight who struck Abram in the village yelled angrily and kicked the bars of the cell.
One of the knights, seeing this, tried to calm him down.
“Hey hey, just ignore him. He’s the type to come with petitions again and again, he won’t listen even if we talk.”
“It pisses me off, he keeps going against us!”
As the enraged knight yelled back, Abram continued repeating himself without showing any signs of fear.
“I will make my case. I want the taxes returned to the way they were, and for the villagers to…”
“How many times are you going to repeat the same thing?!”
The furious knight entered the cell and struck Abram with his fist still wearing the gauntlet.
Though Abram staggered, he repeated himself without changing his expression.
“I will make my case…”
“If you’re looking for a fight, I’ll take you on!”
Feeling mocked by Abram’s repeated defiance, the enraged knight beat him again and again.
Watching it from outside the prison, the other knights sighed.
“That Dennis… he wasn’t like this before.”
Before coming to this land, the angry knight Dennis had been a respectable military man.
However, when Baron Bart was subjected to a form of exile, Dennis got involved and ended up following him from the bustling capital to this forest. There was no chance of rising through the ranks in the military anymore.
Now, he is a short-tempered brute. His relationship with his wife and children is also in terrible shape.
“We’re in no position to talk about others.”
Another knight said this as he gulped from a bottle of alcohol.
Since they arrived, none of them have taken their work seriously. The reason is exactly the same as Dennis’.
Suddenly, a chilling sound echoed from the inside of the prison.
One of the knights shouted loudly.
“Hey, that’s going too far!”
–
The woodcutter Abram had hit his head on the stone wall and was now lying with his neck bent in a strange angle.
Dennis, the knight who had knocked him down, stood stunned. It didn’t seem to have been deliberate.
The knights rushed into the cell in a panic to check Abram’s condition.
One of them immediately shook his head.
“He’s dead…”
“It was done with the lord’s consent.”
Muttering this, Dennis’s bearded face turned pale.
“We were only given permission to hit him if he was being annoying.”
“It was this woodcutter who kept resisting until he was beaten to death! I’m not at fault!”
Dennis shouted, his eyes wide, at one of the knights who spoke in a reproachful tone.
Then, he hurriedly left, from the dungeon, from the guardhouse. He mounted his horse and rode off, and the other knights watched from the window of the guardhouse.
The remaining knights exchanged glances.
“What are we going to do?”
“That wife, she’s probably offering her body right now…”
Though the knights were jaded, they didn’t hate the villagers.
In fact, deep down, they felt guilty and even ashamed.
It was just that resignation and apathy outweighed their sense of guilt or duty to their work.
A brief, heavy silence passed.
Eventually, one of them spoke.
“I’ll go report to the lord.”
“Do you think there will be any punishment?”
“Perhaps. But it’s unavoidable.”
They all nodded weakly, and one of them left the guardhouse to report.
The ones left behind covered the woodcutter’s corpse with a cloth, knelt, and clasped their hands in prayer.
–
The knight who went to report returned shortly after.
The other knights rushed to his side.
“How did it go?”
“He said to call the undertaker and hold a funeral in the village.”
“What about that wife?”
“As expected, she had offered herself. When I saw her, she was sleeping, though…”
The lord, still naked, sat up in bed and gave instructions to the knight who had gone to report.
The woodcutter’s wife, Lete, was also lying naked on the other side, her back facing the knight.
It was clear that they had just had an affair.
“I see. I wonder what will happen to that wife.”
A heavy silence fell between the knights.
No one could answer.
–
What would be the outcome?
It was an unexpected turn of events for the knights.
The lord kept Lete locked in the room and barely came out anymore.
The servants were always instructed to bring two servings of food, and water for bathing was delivered daily.
As far as the servants could see, the lord and Lete were always in bed. Both the lord comforting Lete, and for some reason, the lord being comforted by her, were witnessed many times.
The lord made no attempt to hide his obsession with the captured married woman.
