- Chapter 4.2 - "Feng Jingzhuo is Inherently Cold and Ruthless"
The man was lying there, his clothes discarded and only a silk blanket wrapped around him. His chest and collarbones had red marks, and his eyes held a lingering sense of humiliation. His pale face seemed to want to speak, but he couldn’t.
He had dragon energy, so he must be from the dragon clan. Lianzhen really had a soft spot for dragons. Ning Yao said, “Aren’t you leaving?”
The man turned his face away. “Where can I go?”
Ning Yao grew anxious. She didn’t have time for words, tearing off the vine from the bed and erasing the traces. “You can go anywhere, but do not stay here. If you don’t want to share cultivation with her, you can’t risk her thinking the insects are your doing. Stop dawdling, come with me!”

As they neared Zhanxue Lake, Ning Yao looked back at Luoxiang Mountain in the distance and said, “It’s safe here. You don’t need to follow me. Go home.”
The entire journey had been quiet. The man had kept his head lowered, but now he raised his gaze, revealing a handsome and refined face. “Miss, you saved Dong Ze from water and fire. If you don’t mind my filthy body, please allow me to serve you.”
Ning Yao replied, “Saving you was no trouble at all. No need to thank me. I don’t need anyone to serve me. Go home.”
After a pause, she added, “You shouldn’t be from the Xuan Yue Sect, right? I can see your soul is stable; you haven’t lost your dragon tendons or bones, nor have you been injured. If you were kidnapped by Lianzhen, you’re free now.”
He still hesitated to leave.
Ning Yao asked, “Are you afraid Lady Lianzhen will chase after you?”
That seemed unlikely. Even though Lady Lianzhen was wealthy, the world was vast, and dragons loved water. There were countless places where he could hide—rivers, lakes, and seas were all options.
Wan Dongze shook his head. “She never chases runaway slaves.”
“That’s good,” Ning Yao said.
Wan Dongze’s knees buckled as he knelt to the ground. “Miss! I have no home to return to.”
He looked pitiful, and Ning Yao felt a pain of sympathy. However, he wasn’t from the Cangyuan Dragon Clan, and she wasn’t particularly interested in picking up men either. “Even if you have no home, I’ve done all I can.”
Wan Dongze shook his head repeatedly. “Lady Lianzhen truly never chases runaway slaves, but she will use Cloud Shadow Technique to record the most humiliating scenes of the escapees and then publicize them, spreading false rumors that ruin their reputation… Miss, even if you’re not with Lady Zhen, you’ll never escape her shadow for the rest of your life.”
“But following me will solve it.,” Ning Yao said. “Either you don’t care, or you find a way to kill her. Or, at worst, find a deep lake, sleep for a while, and when you wake up, maybe the world outside will be different.”
Wan Dongze’s eyes dimmed, but he still wasn’t willing to give up. “Miss, you entered Lady Zhen’s bedroom to steal a few dragon scales. Recently, only one person has had their scales pulled—was it for Feng Jingzhuo?”
“Don’t ask about that,” Ning Yao said, turning away.
Wan Dongze raised his voice behind her. “Miss saved please my life, so I not dare go ungrateful. Feng Jingzhuo is cold-hearted, cruel, and, in his quest for favor, has caused the deaths of many of his kin in the mountain villa! He is wicked and vile, and he crawled into the beds of the three of Lady Zhen’s junior sisters, which enraged her and led to his punishment!”
“Though his appearance is ruined, it’s not difficult to restore it. Lady Zhen is obsessed with him and won’t truly abandon him! Miss, Feng Jingzhuo is Lady Zhen’s most beloved male companion, and keeping him by your side will only bring more trouble!”
Ning Yao, already walking away, slowed her steps after hearing this, then turned back. “Did you see it with your own eyes?”
“What?”
“Did you personally witness what you just said?”
Wan Dongze froze, his lips moving but unable to speak.
Ning Yao understood, turned, and said, “You’re also afraid of your reputation being tarnished. Since you know what it feels like, why become the one who spreads others’ rumors?”

The preparations to repair the dragon scales were already sufficient. Ning Yao passed the scales she had brought through the Spirit Pool Water, applied medicinal powder, and then went to her room to find Feng Jingzhuo.
He was very quiet. According to Ning Yuzhu’s report, he had been sitting in a corner of his room for the past few days, not moving or speaking. Ning Yuzhu had secretly glanced at him a few times, and every time he was in the same position—holding his tail, leaning against the wall. After staring at him a few times and finding it boring, Ning Yuzhu stopped looking.
He said, “Yao Yao, let me tell you, I think this person is really difficult to deal with. Originally, the Cangyuan Dragon Clan is cold-blooded, each one prouder than the last. They stayied in the Cangyuan and never comes out, as if the outside world is beneath them, as if they are so noble. The ones exiled are those who have committed grave crimes. Who knows what crime he committed? What if he has violent tendencies?”
Ning Yao said, “That’s exactly what I want.”
Ning Yuzhu stomped his foot. “It’s really a waste of time talking to you. I’ve done this for your own good. I’ve learned… ” He suddenly lowered his voice and whispered in her ear, “I’m not afraid of anything, but I’m afraid he has a venereal disease…”
Ning Yao pushed him away. “Go away, go away, go away!”

Ning Yao didn’t really love Jingzhou. She just used him. Too bad for him suffering for a thousand years in guilt for killing her when that was really her goal in the first place.
