- Chapter 25 - The Omega Sister (25)
By the time Jiang Yushu finally woke up, it was already three in the afternoon the next day. His entire body ached as if he’d been run over by a truck.
“Hiss~,” he groaned, rubbing his leg. “Damn it, this woman! Doesn’t she know anything about restraint?”
Host, good afternoon, the System’s voice chimed in his mind, barely suppressing a laugh.
Damn it! This thing is doing it on purpose, isn’t it? Judging by Little Sys’s tone, it probably knows exactly what happened to my body last night.
Waaah, what sins have I committed to provoke a top-tier Alpha like that?
Creak. The door opened, and Feng Canjiu entered in a bathrobe, carrying a plate of spaghetti. “You’re awake. Hungry?”
“Hmph,” Jiang Yushu muttered, burying his face in the pillow, unwilling to acknowledge her.
Feng Canjiu placed the plate on the bedside table and reached out to grab his ankle.
Jiang Yushu flinched at her touch, instantly sitting up in bed. He wrapped the blanket around his chest and leaned against the headboard. “Sister, I can’t take any more.”
Hiss… My back hurts, my butt hurts, everything hurts.
Seeing Jiang Yushu in such a state, Feng Canjiu suddenly felt a pang of guilt. How could I have lost control so completely last night?
“I’m sorry,” she murmured.
Huh? You were so wild last night, and now you’re giving me this act? Jiang Yushu was truly at her limit. If Feng Canjiu hadn’t shown this remorse, she might have had to endure another round…
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Jiang Yushu snapped, pursing her lips. She didn’t want this woman feeling guilty about her. Her gland throbbed and tingled; Feng Canjiu had shown no mercy last night. Thank goodness it was just a long-term mark.
Feng Canjiu had retained some semblance of reason last night. Had she lost all restraint, it would have been a permanent mark.
“Get up and eat something,” Feng Canjiu sighed, resolving to never lose control like that again.
Last night, her thirty years of composure and self-restraint had vanished into thin air.
Jiang Yushu breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness Feng Canjiu is being reasonable now.
She shifted her aching body, the blanket sliding down her skin to reveal her pale collarbones. The marks on her body were still faint, barely visible.
The sensual scene caught Feng Canjiu’s eye, and her throat involuntarily tightened. “Yushu…”
Jiang Yushu felt a chill run down her spine. What does she want now? Stiffly lifting her head, she met Feng Canjiu’s burning gaze and quickly clutched the blanket tighter. “Get out!”
Damn it, that look in your eyes… are you trying to devour me? Haven’t you gone crazy enough already? You’re a perfectly capable CEO—why aren’t you even going to work today?
“Mm.” The Alpha nodded obediently and reluctantly left.
The moment the door closed, Feng Canjiu pressed a hand to her chest, her heart racing.
“Mother?” A small hand tugged at her hem, and a child looked up at her with wide, watery eyes.
The child had changed into clean clothes, no longer covered in dirt.
Seeing the child, Feng Canjiu’s inner turmoil instantly calmed. “Why are you out here?”
“I was alone in the room and didn’t know what to do.”
The child sounded a little aggrieved. She had no name, and though her mother had said she would adopt her, she knew adoption required paperwork.
“Mother, aren’t we going to do the adoption paperwork?”
Feng Canjiu raised an eyebrow. This child was far more perceptive than she’d imagined. Crouching down to meet her gaze, she pressed a hand on the girl’s head. “How do you know about these things?”
“The books said so.”
“Books?” Could it be that even in that abusive household, they actually let her read?
The child’s face lit up with pride. “When Auntie Chen didn’t want to deal with me, she’d dump me on Sister. But Sister didn’t want to bother with me either, so she’d leave me in the school library. There were so many books there.”
“What’s your name?” Feng Canjiu suddenly realized she hadn’t even asked the child’s name, nor had Jiang Yushu.
A shadow of sadness crossed the child’s face. “I don’t have a name. Auntie Chen always called me ‘worthless burden.'”
“Nonsense,” Feng Canjiu said coldly. What kind of ridiculous name is that? She recalled the couple Jiang Yushu had mentioned needing to speak with. They hadn’t had time to discuss it last night.
Judging by the child’s expression, it couldn’t be good news. She’d need to talk to Yushu about it more thoroughly.
“Can I choose my own name?” the child asked, tilting her head and speaking cautiously.
Traditionally, naming adopted children was the Alpha’s responsibility—Feng Canjiu’s right. The little girl was afraid; what if Feng Canjiu didn’t like it?
Hearing her request, Feng Canjiu’s interest was piqued. “What name do you want?”
“Feng Liantang,” she said happily, feeling reassured by Feng Canjiu’s gentle tone.
Feng Canjiu repeated the name, “Feng Liantang. Why?”
“Because of Mother’s name. And… um…” She hesitated, unsure how to address Jiang Yushu. “Sister” seemed inappropriate for her mother’s Omega, while “Auntie” felt too formal for someone so young.
It seemed her mother and Jiang Yushu were just dating, not yet married, so neither term felt quite right.
The master bedroom door opened, and Jiang Yushu leaned against the frame, wearing one of Feng Canjiu’s shirts.
Feng Liantang’s eyes lit up like round, gleaming cat’s eyes. “Mommy!”
“Good girl,” Jiang Yushu said, tapping her forehead. “You have quite the literary flair, choosing a name from that poem: ‘Last night’s rain was sparse, the wind fierce; even after a deep sleep, the lingering wine remains.’ You’ve been reading a lot, haven’t you?”
This world was still quite behind in many ways. For example, literature wasn’t treated as essential curriculum like it was in other worlds.
Not everyone knew it, just like Feng Canjiu, who had grown up under a heavily commercialized and militarized education, had never heard this line of poetry before.
“Mmm, ‘Smiling, I ask the curtain-roller, “Do the crabapple blossoms still bloom?”‘ That’s the line. It suits Mom and Mother perfectly, don’t you think?”
“Stop talking,” Jiang Yushu said, pinching Feng Canjiu’s nose. “When are you going to propose, Sister?”
Propose? Feng Canjiu’s mind went blank for a moment. Was it too soon?
“What? Sister doesn’t want to take responsibility?” Last night, you pulled out all the stops and had your way with me completely.
Feng Canjiu met her teasing gaze. “I’ll do it as soon as possible. As long as you don’t mind.”
“Why would I mind?” Jiang Yushu chuckled. Mind that you’re rich? Mind that you’re beautiful and have a great body? What, am I crazy?
Pulling the Omega close, she whispered in her ear, “Mind what happened last night… hmm?”
Jiang Yushu…Â Damn it, my back’s acting up again. If I’m getting married soon, will my old back even survive? But this person…Â Damn it, they’re so beautiful. I think I’m falling for them.
“Eww, how embarrassing!” Feng Liantang covered her eyes. Don’t these two adults ever notice me, a little kid?
Gently pushing Feng Canjiu away, Jiang Yushu bit her lip, a faint blush lingering in her eyes. “Sister~, that’s embarrassing.”
Turning, she took the child’s hand. “Come on, Tangtang darling, let’s go. We’re ignoring your mother now.”
The two descended the stairs, leaving Feng Canjiu watching their retreating figures with a helpless expression. A flicker of warmth stirred in her heart; this family seemed to be changing.
Just as Jiang Yushu settled on the sofa, her phone rang again.
This world might be technologically backward, but at least the phone’s battery life was surprisingly reliable.
The moment she answered, a furious voice roared through the line: “Darling! Where were you last night? I was worried sick!”
Oh no, I forgot to tell them I wouldn’t be home last night.
Jiang Zhen’s voice was slightly unsteady and weary. Feeling a pang of guilt, Jiang Yushu chuckled awkwardly. “Father.”
Jiang Zhen, ever perceptive, immediately sensed something was amiss when he heard his daughter’s hoarse voice. “Were you with Feng Canjiu last night? What did she do to you?”
Why does my precious daughter’s voice sound like this?
“She…”
“Don’t say another word! That beast! How dare she treat my daughter like this? You just woke up? Damn it! Shameless creature…” Jiang Zhen continued his tirade for a full half-hour.
Jiang Yushu could only listen to his rant. Just when she thought he was finished, her brothers took turns launching their own wave of accusations against Feng Canjiu.
“My sister’s still just a child! You were out for so long yesterday… Damn it! Is she even human?” Jiang Hengshu calculated the time. How many hours was that?
Jiang Yushu covered his face. “Second Brother, it’s not as scary as you make it sound. It just started around eight o’clock yesterday…” He trailed off, realizing he’d been led into a trap. Damn it, I’ve been played.
“What? Is she still human?” What kind of Apex Alpha is this? How long did you sleep? How could my little sister possibly withstand Feng Canjiu’s… affection?
Jiang Zhen, hearing this, began to reconsider the marriage. My daughter’s waist is so tiny—with Feng Canjiu’s strength, she’ll be broken in half on the bed!
“Why are you asking all these questions?” Jiang Yushu demanded. Aren’t you ashamed, a bunch of grown men?
“We’re just worried about you,” Jiang Henge replied calmly. He had already called Fu Chenlan earlier and learned that Jiang Yushu had taken a child with him. “Where’s the child? And why did you go to the construction site yesterday?”
Host, you can tell them the truth. It’s fine. The System was in an excellent mood, having gathered a massive amount of energy the previous night. Now, the Host faced virtually no restrictions in this world. Male Leads, Female Leads—they were all just fleeting clouds.
Feng Canjiu sat down beside her, pulling Jiang Yushu into her arms to make her more comfortable.
She gently massaged Jiang Yushu’s slightly swollen waist.
“Hmm… I was just wondering… Is the child in Chenchen’s womb really Feng Zimo’s?”
The moment she spoke, not only did the other end of the phone fall silent, but the hand massaging her waist also froze.
“What are you implying?” Jiang Henge frowned, recalling the girl in the waitress uniform from that night. She seemed vaguely familiar, but he couldn’t quite place where he’d seen her before.
Hearing her third brother’s tone, Jiang Yushu pouted. What’s his problem? Does he think I still have lingering feelings for that idiot Zimo?
“Jiang Henge, watch your tone!” If Feng Canjiu, that jealous pot, hears this, my waist will be as good as gone!
“Jiang Henge?” Feng Liantang tilted her head, murmuring another name, “Jiang Hengyuan?”
Jiang Yushu’s heart jolted. What’s Tangtang saying? How does she know my eldest brother’s name?
